Another World Game Developer

Chapter 64

While Yuren was starting the development meeting for [Eternal Fantasy] at the Irene School,

a meeting was also beginning far away in the Yura Republic.

In attendance were the key members of the Magus Society, including Dean Einhardt and Professor Howard, where shocking discussions about the Irene School were taking place.

“What!? Mass production system?”

“That’s right, Howard. Now that we’ve gained enough experience in game magic production, I’m thinking of sharing it with other teams to create a mass production system.”

Upon returning from the Gilberd competition, Dean Einhardt immediately summoned the professors back to the Yura Republic.

Among them was Professor Howard from the successful Speed Rabbit team.

Professor Howard knew exactly how much profit the Magus Society had raked in from the success of Speed Rabbit.

So he sincerely thought he would at least get some form of compensation for attending this meeting.

But what he heard was shocking news.

It was the Magus Society’s proposal to embrace a mass production system for games.

“But Dean, it seems too early for that.”

“I understand, but when I went to the Empire, I found that the game market there is ownerless. This is an opportunity.”

The success of game magic relied heavily on Sora’s abilities.

He knew that any game made without her would be as disastrous as the first failed attempt he created.

However, there was something Howard didn’t know.

A greedy leader becomes far more foolish than one might imagine.

“But Dean!”

“Howard, do you see me asking you for a favor? This is an order.”

With those words from Dean Einhardt, Howard eventually lowered his tail.

In the end, rank was the real power.

No matter how Einhardt appeared to have lost his sense of judgment due to neglect, he was still in a higher position.

Given the choice, Howard didn’t have any option but to follow the order he was given, no matter how tragic the outcome might be.

“Everyone, please receive the game development process from Professor Howard’s team and start planning development.”

Dean Einhardt stood up and addressed all the professors in attendance.

All the professors straightened up under his barren gaze.

“The goal is to create one game per team each month. I ask for everyone’s utmost effort to thwart the Empire’s conspiracy.”

“<< Yes! Dean!! >>”

Thus began the game project initiated to thwart the Empire’s scheme,

but it soon started to transform into a pursuit of profit for the Magus Society, tasting the lure of money.

But there was no helping it. The Dean’s authority in the Magus Society was absolute.

As a Magus engineer, he wielded such immense power that opposing him would mean leaving the Republic of Yura, and everyone dutifully set out to prepare for game production, silently giving their best.

The developers were on the verge of a hellish nightmare.

The presentation explaining the development plan for the [Eternal Fantasy] project continued smoothly.

I displayed the prepared documents, sharing the work distribution and schedules with everyone, and everyone’s expressions showed they understood what was explained while looking at the crystal ball that contained the plans.

Of course, I knew they didn’t truly understand.

In due time, after extended confirmations and conversations, they would come to grasp my intentions.

“We’ll start assigning tasks this way. Basically, we’ll hold a crystal ball video meeting every two weeks and an in-person meeting at the Irene School once a month, so please check your schedules.”

“Understood, Yuren.”

“Got it, Yuren! Hahaha!”

As I shared the development plan with everyone, the project for [Eternal Fantasy] officially commenced.

After the meeting wrapped up, as I was about to head to the restaurant where food and drinks were prepared, Silvia and Karen approached me with worried expressions.

“Um, Yuren, is it really okay to distribute the work like this?”

“Why’s that?”

“Karen is right. It seems like a lot of responsibility is concentrated on you, Yuren.”

The work had been divided as follows:
Combat system: Me, Jiren, Julia, and the Juel School,
3D space implementation: Me, Master, and the Claudia School,
Attractive character and world art and graphic resources: Me, Lauren, and the graphics specialists from the Irene School,
Production and level design content: Me, Noirin, and the Irene School clergy and Apollo,
Overall scenario: Me,
Overall schedule management: Karen,
Financial and production management: Silvia and Butler Thomas,

Looking at that organized work division, I felt a cloud settling over me.

Hmm, there are really a lot of me in this world. Hahaha.

“Um… If we work hard, maybe it’ll somehow work out?”

“Ha… Okay, but please don’t overexert yourself. Remember that a responsible person also has to take care of their health.”

“Got it, Silvia. Thanks for worrying.”

“As a partner, that’s only natural! Now, let’s go eat.”

Absurd schedules, but there was no helping it.

The project for Eternal Fantasy was filled with many new concepts.

Sci-fi, turn-based combat, modern cities, guns, 3D, and many other new concepts that people from other worlds had never experienced.

To ensure everything was adjusted correctly, I’d have to check everything as I worked.

For instance, just looking at the city of Midgar, where the game was set, was a testament to that.

“This is the city of Midgar, where ‘Eternal Fantasy’ begins.”

[Midgar]

A city that serves as the backdrop for the beginning of Final Fantasy 7, it is a city of luxury and indulgence that endlessly consumes the life energy known as [Lifestream].

Filled with modern architecture yet bathed in a dark atmosphere reminiscent of Gotham, the green light emitted from [Mako Reactors] symbolized this city from Final Fantasy 7.

I used memory magic to project an image of Midgar for the graphics team, and while observing the city, Lauren and the graphics team began to marvel.

“Wow, it’s beautiful. So fascinating… and for some reason, the city looks sad.”

While observing the large representation of the city in the center of the lab, Lauren shared her thoughts.

A glamorous yet dying city, it seemed Lauren could sense Midgar’s fate.

“There’s a reason for that; this city uses Mako energy, which consumes the energy of the stars…”

“C-Can we not discuss that now, Yuren?”

Lauren’s curiosity awakened the geek in me.

Sigh, hiding the geek side of me wasn’t easy even in another world.

Thus, our graphics team began to observe the colossal Midgar, starting to visualize the images.

And one by one, they began to ask questions.

“Yuren, what about those carriage-like things the people are riding?”

“That’s called a car. It consumes Mako and is ridden like a carriage.”

“Wow, the design is cool!”

There were also carriage-like vehicles similar to cars in this world.

While they couldn’t travel as fast since they operated on magic rather than highways, it wasn’t challenging to visualize something similar to automobiles.

“Yuren, what about those soldiers over there holding something that looks like a weapon?”

Another disciple, Barren, pointed to the guns held by the Midgar soldiers.

I explained it to him.

“That’s called a gun; it’s a projectile weapon used by soldiers in this world.”

“Ah! So it’s like magic tools used by soldiers.”

“Similar; if you brace it like this to fire, it releases fire magic like ‘Pao’ from the barrel.”

“Interesting. What’s the principle behind it?”

“Hmmm…Well, to explain that, concepts like gunpowder, bullets, and cartridge would come into play, but if I explain…”

Barren seemed to take a liking to the gun and started bombarding me with questions about it, asking about the shape, type, principles, and effects, and I shared whatever I knew.

Barren noted down each item, his eyes shimmering with excitement.

What’s up with him? Does he really like guns?

“This city seems amazing! Did it really come from your dream, Yuren?”

Aside from my mentor and a few acolytes, my past life was a secret.

The setting for Eternal Fantasy was that it had all come from a dream I had.

“Um… Y-Yeah! About three months ago, I suddenly had this dream.”

“Hmm, so in this dream, you saw this city, the people’s outfits, and these weapons?”

“Y-Yeah, something like that!”

Hearing my words, Lauren looked at me incredulously, yet she wore an expression that suggested she begrudgingly accepted it.

“Yuren, you have really detailed dreams.”

Having a curious younger sibling was always a headache.

Anyways, as this progressed, I had no choice but to get involved in every little detail.

My hell was about to begin.
