Supreme Emperor of Mist

Chapter 96: Tong Xuan Jian / Copper Xuan Sword

"What are you going to do this time, husband?" Hu Jia asked as she leaned on the seat where Qin Lan used to meditate. Her dress looks neat and appropriate this time because she knew she shouldn't disturb Qin Lan's concentration right now.

But asking a question or two won't be counted as a disturbance.

"Do you remember that I was trying to refine something from the materials I've brought back last time? I'm going to use them now to refine something for all of us." Qin Lan said.

"Ah... No wonder you took the two Jade Dragon Fingers from Lu Yi and Huo Zunjie... It is for this reason." Hu Jia nodded. A moment later, she continued as there's one more question of her is unanswered.

"How many treasures can be refined from these ingredients?" Hu Jia asked as her hand sweeps through the ingredients Qin Lan arranged nicely on top of a roundtable.

"It's depending on what kind of treasure I'm going to refine. I can force all the ingredients into one Offensive Treasure, or I can separate them into ten. What's important is how suitable is the ingredients when I put them together." Qin Lan rubbed Hu Jia's head as he clears her curiosity.

"Oh... So it's like refining a pill..." Hu Jia's eyes wandered around as she rolled on the smooth seat.

"Then... Let me know when you need me for something." Hu Jia shut her eyes and started to take a nap.

"Hehe..." Qin Lan touched her bum on purpose as he teased her a little. But his attention returned to the treasure refining soon after that.

Using his Spiritual Energy as a firestarter, Qin Lan ignites the firewood stacked under the two smelting forges sitting in the corner of his room. A bunch of materials is thrown into the forge to start the extraction process.

"Renting my own spiritual cave is indeed more convenient compared to using the public forge area provided in the dwelling. At the very least, I can keep my own techniques a secret while I produce the treasures out from the forge." Qin Lan smiled as he monitors the extraction process.

The forge provided is also a higher-level smelter that came with all the required features. One of them is the draining system to remove the liquid metal and slags without requiring an extra pair of hands.

Furthermore, the ventilation system is fully controllable through Spiritual Energy. Unless he's trying to refine something like a Bone Reconstruction Treasure, the ventilation will be more than enough for Qin Lan to refine them without turning the room into an oven.

"Done," Qin Lan used the hammer in his hand to unblock the draining pipe for the liquid metal to flow into a holding pool. The next batch of material is quickly inserted into the forge as he removes the slags aside.

He then took the time while waiting to separates the Offense Metal from the holding pool. As the metal would slowly harden as it was fed with Spiritual Energy, Qin Lan controlled the output at minimal as he formed them into a common-sized ingot.

After repeating this process six times, 48 pieces of Offense Metal Ingots are now ready to be used to create any Offensive Treasure.

"Let's start with the two Jade Dragon Fingers first." Qin Lan took a few ingredients from the table and mixed them together with the disassembled Huang-Grade (Half) Offensive Treasure. The flame soon turned the parts into golden bits before the Offense Metal is added.

Since there's no longer a constraint over refining materials, Qin Lan decided to scrape aside the idea of keeping their weapon as a gauntlet for close combat.

"It's time I'm going to teach them a proper sword martial technique to protect themselves outside of the sect too..." Qin Lan nodded as he raised the hammer taller than his head.

"Dang!"

"Dang!"

"Dang!"

It was a different process when it came to refining an Offensive Treasure with the appearance of a sword, spear, hammer, and staff. The reason is that they're considered as a Solid Armament, which tends to focus on durability.

Meanwhile, the gauntlet, brush, fan, and blade are considered Soft Armaments. A weapon like them can be processed in multiple ways, but they're eventually not used for a severe engagement.

Furthermore, the demand in the material used to refine the Offensive Treasure is slightly different too.

After removing and refining the scales into the sword's core, it was time for Qin Lan to add the star ingredient for the first sword that was customized for Lu Yi.

"Spine and Core from the Rock Demon Boar."

"A complete limb from the Violet Legged Broodmother."

"Flameless Lizard Demon Beast's ribs."

"Thunderhorn Copper Rhino's horn."

"Material selection is complete! Let's start the sword tempering process!" using both of the forges to fire the ingredients until they reach the malleable stage, the sword's core is added into the forge last.

The five Yao Beast parts are quickly combined with the sword's core to create a rough branch-like body. At this stage, holding the treasure is no longer possible using his bare hand.

A grabbing tong went inside the forge to grab the sword out as Qin Lan begin to hammer it into a shape he desires. Taking Lu Yi's height into account, Qin Lan created this sword to be about 34 inches long.

He also made the sword a little broader than usual and added some weight to its base based on his understanding of that guy's fighting habit.

With the feature of the blade has been decided, the hammering process continued. One hit at a time, Qin Lan steadily molds the sword into a state of perfection as the Offense Metal is added, one drop at a time.

Close to half a day later, the sword created for Lu Yi finally has taken shape. As the Thunderhorn Copper Rhino's horn was the most volatile material amongst those used to shape this Offensive Treasure, a striking copper color coated the weapon from its tip to the base.

Only the hilt remained a little different as it carries the color of the lustrous black from the Rock Demon Boar over.

"Only the final steps remained..." Qin Lan quenched the sword into the water twice as the refining process is leaning closer to its completion. The moment the excess water on the Offensive Treasure has finally evaporated, Qin Lan used it to open an incision in between his palm.

Spiritual Energy soon gushes out from the incision along with his blood like a spray of mist. Using his own blood to baptized the Offensive Treasure he refined, the droplet soon gathered at the ridge of the sword's body in the form of three texts.

"Tong - Xuan - Jian!"
