How Have You Been, Mara?
It took us a few more days before a rather familiar station was in sight.
On another note… I was quite nervous about carrying that box on our ship that I was constantly on edge throughout the first part of the flight.
The others obviously noticed and Amber had to point out that I was already carrying drugs before this and I wasn't as nervous as I was about it.
She then assured me that in the outer colonies, no one really gives a crap about what you're carrying. That was why our ship has barely even been subjected to a search throughout our journey so far. Only places with tighter security or with military presence might do that.
I realised the truth behind her words since we really haven't been subjected to any searches for contraband much…
I then asked about the existence of black markets since they would be rather pointless if the trade wasn't regulated by such searches.
Amber laughed at that and just said that the black market was the place that people could avoid taxes by the station itself and also sell and buy things that would actually be regulated in the station itself.
I understood from her that this meant that the so called illegal drugs were most likely also being sold in the open market within those stations but they were either more expensive or harder to procure.
That made me feel a little better… Though I suspect it also had something to do with the fact that Amber and Lea then dragged me off for a threesome after that.
I really, really need to get us some recreational stuff to do after this…
Sure, the sex is good, but I fear that just doing it everyday would make it become a chore instead…
The other two definitely didn't have the same fear as I did since every time we did it, their enthusiasm didn't seem diminished in the slightest…
On that note, I believe I caught Ries peeking at us a few times and I have a feeling this was why Lea and Amber seemed to be much more horny on this particular trip than normal…
Still… I was going to let her approach me instead since it feels like she was still on the fence about this.
But first things first…
I watched as the screens in front of me showed that the docking procedures for my ship were completed and I started powering down the engines before getting out of my seat.
I stretched my arms above my head before I let out a groan, "Alright… I guess we're finally back here on Theeve. So we're all good on the plan right?"
The three girls that were arranged in front of me nodded.
We had already discussed earlier on what we were going to be doing when we reached the station.
Amber would be in charge of looking for additional furniture that we could purchase for the ship which included the entertainment stuff.
Additionally, she would be the one to drop the box somewhere, since she assured me that she knew the perfect place for it.
Lea would obviously be going to buy the parts and tools she needed to start up her hydroponics farm while Ries would also accompany her to get the tools and parts she needed to set up her workshop.
As for me… Well… There was someone I wanted to visit both for information and just to check up on her.
I'm talking about Mara of course.
It's been a while since we've seen her and I honestly haven't really been calling her as often either, though we did exchange some messages from time to time but that was mainly just small talk.
She was still complaining about how Amber would still send pictures of my cooking just to make fun of her.
That's why I was bringing another box of my cooking to her for this visit. Specifically, I made her some of that potato omelette that I made for the others using some of the potatoes that Lea had grown.
With our plans set, we left the ship and went our own way.
Since this wasn't the first time I've been there, I could find my own way to the clinic.
I walked through the bustling streets before turning into the narrow alleyways.
There were a few shady looking guys who turned to watch me as I passed by. But since it didn't look like they wanted to do anything, I ignored them.
Turning the corner, I found Mara's clinic where I remembered it to be.
The only problem was that there was a whole bunch of mean looking people standing outside the clinic.
Err… Is Mara having another problem again? She's not getting robbed, is she?
Just as I was thinking whether I should check out what was happening, a group of people walked out from the clinic, the leader looking quite pissed.
"I fucking knew it… That bastard Toby… Let's go. Call up the rest, we're wiping that traitor out today!"
The group then left the clinic, walking in the opposite direction of where I was to leave the alley.
Huh… I wonder what that was about.
I went over to the entrance of the clinic and found Mara leaning against the front counter while looking down at her personal terminal. That was weird since she would usually be in her operating room instead and the front counter would be manned by the receptionist.
But right now, aside from her, the entire place was empty.
I was just about to call out to her when I heard a bunch of footsteps moving towards me, prompting me to turn back and see a crowd as big as the previous one marching towards the clinic's entrance.
Woah… What's going on today?
The sound also prompted Mara to look up and she spotted me instantly.
"Tera? Is that you?"
I turned back to answer her but then a hand on my shoulder shoved me to the side to let another guy take my place.
"Whisper Tale. We have an appoint--"
Turrets popped out from the ceiling and I noted that there were way more of them than the last time I came here.
Heck, there were even turrets popping out from the walls and all of them were currently pointed at the crowd of mean looking thugs that had shoved me aside.
"You bastards… Who do you think you are?" Mara growled.
The leader seemed to be surprised by this reaction from Mara and he frowned at her, "What are you talking about? We had an appointment, Whisper Tale! Did you forget about me? It's Toby!"
She completely ignored him and walked over to me, pulling me to her side before she patted the shoulder that the person shoved as though she was getting rid of some dust.
"Hey?! I'm talking to you!" That Toby guy yelled.
Mara continued to ignore him as she started to pat down my body, "Are you hurt? Do you feel pain anywhere? Did that bastard hurt you?"
Err… Mara? What are you doing? It was just a shove at most you know? It's not like I fell on the ground either… All it did was make me stumble a step to the side…
"I'm ok… Is err… Umm… You seem to be in the middle of something so… Actually do you need help?"
I mean… Is she being threatened by these guys? Does she need an extra gun?
She waved her hand dismissively, "Don't worry about them. Come in, come in~"
The Toby guy obviously wasn't amused by her words and he started shouting again.
"What is the meaning of this?! Who is this bitch!? We had an appointment! I'm here for info--"
Mara waved her hand at him, "I have decided not to sell you any, so you are no longer welcome here. Go away."
Mara then started pulling me inside the clinic but the Toby guy was having none of that.
"Hey! What the fuck?! No, no, no. You can't do that!"
"I just did. Now get the fuck out of here. You are an eyesore."
He reached behind him and pulled out a gun, prompting the rest of his group to do the same as well.
I was going to reach for mine as well but Mara tightened her grip on my hand and I understood that she did not want me to.
The Toby bastard took a step forward while pointing his gun at her, "Do you want to find out if I can blow your head out faster or you can get your turrets to respond faster, huh?"
"I know I can get my information out faster. Something to do with two beds and a cupboard at Jus--"
I saw the blood drain from the guy's face and he let out a scream, "Ok! Ok!! Stop, stop!! I'll leave! I'll leave!! How the hell do you even know… No, no, no… Ok! I got it! I'll leave!!"
His attitude did a complete one eighty as he hurriedly spun around and pushed past his men to run the way he had come from.
His men were obviously confused but could do nothing but follow after him.
Ermm… Ok… So that happened…
So how have you been, Mara? Nice weather today, eh?
