chapter 10
Episode 10 – Secret Encounter (Edited)
We entered the main hall and talked for three hours.
“… ….”
“… ….”
“… ….”
This was a place that had been full of loud talk just an hour ago.
Ruel and a few other people I met today also seemed exhausted.
Everyone was resting on the chairs around the table in the central hall.
The silence in the central hall, filled only with the sound of breathing and no words, remained unbroken for a while.
“Oops, sorry. Because the meeting ended late…….”
At that time, a small door on one side of the central hall opened and a person walked out.
At the sound of words reverberating through the quiet central hall, everyone in the room turned their eyes to the direction the sound came from.
“I’m sorry. My name is Gilled, and I will be in charge of your administration for the next four years.”
“Gilred? Gilled of the Flurry?”
A middle-aged man in a white robe introduced himself as Gilled.
As if some of the people here knew him, the word Gilled of the Windstorm came to my ears.
“Gilred the Windfury?”
“I thought you had retired from active duty, but you must have been in charge of administrative work here.”
“They said they would raise disciples… Are you doing administrative work?”
Those around me seemed to be familiar with that man named Gilled.
But I have never heard of…… It wasn’t a name.
About a year ago, when I was wandering around to buy dessert, I once saved a troupe from a crisis.
At that time, I heard a story about a man named Gilled of the Windstorm from them.
‘When it comes to famous wizards these days, there is no one who can follow Gilled of the Windstorm.’
As a reward for saving you, the merchant told you about news from another region, and the wizard mentioned at that time was Gilled the Windstorm.
He was the chief wizard of a fairly famous mercenary corps called the Blue Wind Mercenary Corps.
He was doing well as a mercenary, but he suddenly announced his retirement, saying it was because of a promise he had made with his late master.
He said that he was trying to keep his master’s word to raise a disciple like himself and pass on everything to the disciple.
So he ended his mercenary life and entered the Royal Academy.
In order to raise a single disciple who will pass on his everything, following on from his master.
“I have heard that Gilled of the Storm wants to come to the Royal Academy to raise disciples in order to continue the legacy of his master. Huhu, now I can remember.”
I tried to intervene in their conversation somehow, bringing up a story about Gilled of the Gale that came up belatedly.
My family rarely makes an appearance in the social world, so I had to secure as many people as possible who would look good to them and help my family.
Anyway, it seemed like I had to actively attend banquets and gatherings once I entered the academy.
Isn’t it possible that you won’t be able to fully enjoy the enjoyable dessert time?
“Come to think of it, Gilled of the Gale is said to teach both nobles and commoners alike. Among those teachings, it is said that he will pass on all of himself to the person who recognizes the secret hidden by his teacher…….”
While thinking about my future schedule, I heard Ruel’s story and thought it was amazing.
“Is that true? A magician who shares his teachings with commoners. It is very strange.”
“Right. I don’t know if it’s because he was a mercenary, but Gilled is an unusual wizard in many ways.”
There was a reason why I thought Gilled, who taught commoners magic, was amazing.
Unlike other weapons techniques and magic, records alone cannot fully convey them.
One day, when I went to play in another estate, I saw a book sold at a bookstore there.
I had seen a swordsmanship manual and an introductory book to magic there, but I had taken the time to read both.
However, both books were mere chaffs with plausible words, enough to say that the time spent reading this book was a waste.
None of the most important and nutritious content.
Literally, it was an item with only the simplest movements, mindset, and training methods written on it.
It would be good for common people who know nothing about it, but from my point of view, these textbooks seemed insufficient to gain enlightenment that would allow them to rise above a certain level.
Well, even this would be appreciated by the common people.
Anyway, weapons and magic always needed a teacher to reach a certain level.
Especially, since it is not easy to teach magic compared to swordsmanship, it was almost a one-person transmission.
And since magical talent flows through bloodlines, it was more common for those whose parents were wizards to display their magical talents rather than being manifested through the lineages of distant ancestors in the past.
For this reason, most of the wizards were nobles.
On rare occasions, there were commoner mages, but in those cases, most of them had aristocrats behind them, or their teachers were aristocrats.
So Gilled, who promised to follow his master’s wishes and teach regardless of whether he was a commoner or an aristocrat, was unusual.
Well, there must be someone here who will unravel the secrets left by his master in Gilled’s teachings.
Then he will take over everything.
I don’t know who it will be, but for the sake of our family’s safety, I thought it would be better to recruit as many strong people as possible.
By the way, it seemed like Gilled was just about to give us some information about our next schedule.
“First of all, the entrance ceremony will be held in the academy auditorium two days later.”
The most important entrance ceremony begins in two days.
Isn’t that a bit late? You might think, but the number of people gathered here now exceeds 300.
For the entrance ceremony tomorrow, it must be difficult for students like us and the academy to prepare.
This level is acceptable.
Instead, since I’m going to be busy, I’ll go downtown tomorrow and check out what delicious desserts there are.
“So, you can walk around freely until the entrance ceremony begins. Information about the dormitory will be announced as soon as the entrance ceremony is over, so until then, you can stay at the accommodation you are staying at.”
Hmm, it seems that you can enter the dormitory only after the entrance ceremony.
By the way, the nobles take their attendants with them. Is there a place for the attendants to stay?
“Oh, and since all of you here are nobles, I would like to add one more thing to you. In the case of nobles, the number of entourage they can accompany is limited to one.”
Sighs began to flow from all over the place at the word that the number of attendants serving a nobleman would be limited to one person.
Anyway, it seems that other people, unlike me, have two or three attendants with them.
“Oh, this is such a nuisance.”
“I can do it. Leave one person and let the rest go home.”
“Does everyone bring a lot of entourage?”
I asked Ruel.
Does everyone groan at how many attendants they bring?
“Still, since we are men, we are on the lesser side. The young ladies you see over there tend to take at least three people with them.”
“Are there three people?”
Ugh. If there are three attendants like Nina, I’m sure I’ll faint from exhaustion.
“One person is in charge of clothes. One person is in charge of the head. You should consider taking at least three people with you, one person in charge of trifles.”
“I see.”
It was the first time I knew that the daughters of other noble families had so many attendants with them.
As expected, the world is wide and there are so many things I don’t know.
“Alberto, don’t you have a lot of attendants?”
“Because I have a lady-in-waiting who has been in charge of me since I was young. If there are a lot of people, it is rather inconvenient.”
I expressed my honest feelings.
Nina-ya, I’ve been with me since I was young, so it’s rather difficult for me to stick with other people.
“Umm, is that so? I see.”
At my explanation, Ruel nodded his head and he started talking to the others.
Other than that, there were only minor things.
There were only things that didn’t apply to me, such as telling me to stay quiet until the entrance ceremony and if I couldn’t find a lodging because I was rushing up, the academy would arrange a temporary lodging for me if I told myself.
After hearing all the information about the schedule, I got out of the central hall.
“Then, I’ll see you all on the day of the entrance ceremony.”
“See you later, Alberto.”
“Let’s have sparring together sometime.”
“Whoops, sparring. Good I hope too.”
I also didn’t forget to talk with the new friends I made.
–
That evening, I was thinking about how to behave in the future at the hostel.
Nina said she had to prepare for the entrance ceremony, so she went outside for a while, so I was the only person in the room.
“What should I do in the future… ….”
I met new friends, but it was a pity that I didn’t get to meet the young ladies of each family who had a great influence in the social world.
“Well, there is still time, so I should think about it slowly.”
– Smart.
“Who are you?”
While I was thinking for a moment, someone knocked on my door.
“I am the Marquis of Sebatia. Could you open the door for a minute?”
The man standing outside the door called himself the Marquis of Sebatia.
I carefully froze the door, raising my aura in preparation for an emergency.
This was to quickly subdue the person outside the door if it was an attacker.
When I opened the door, the Marquis of Sebatia stood there wearing a black hood.
“Marquis, what are you doing here?”
“I came here because I have something important to tell you. Can I come in for a minute?”
“Come in.”
I sent the Marquis of Sebatia inside.
The Marquis came into the room and sat down on the sofa, and I sat facing him.
“Alberto.”
“Yes, Marquis.”
“Anyway, the movement of the church is unusual.”
The words that came out of the mouth of the Marquis of Sebatia were truly shocking.
No, why is the cult suddenly appearing here?
I waited until Marquis Sebatia’s mouth opened.
And, the story I heard through the mouth of the Marquis was full of shocking content.
