A NEET’s Guide to the Parallel World: Healer, the Strongest Cheat?

Chapter 53.1: SS-Things Nem Hates

Nem pushed the silver vine pot away from herself with both hands and muttered “No.” With a face that looked as though she was going to cry.

“For being part of the cat race you’re not like a cat at all. What do you mean no? ”

Every cat I know would rapage, clinging onto it for dear life.

“It makes me Dizzy.”

Nem calmed down as the pot was taken away but she still seemed wary of it.

“Building a resistance is important but for some reason Masamune looked like a bad guy here.” Sierra said.

“Why?”

“No reason, don’t worry about it.”

“By the way Toa how did the Cat maid in your hometown overcome it? ”

“U~hm she probably just smelled it a lot until she finally got used to it?”

“Hiii!” The hair on Nems arm stood up as if she’d touched static electricity.

“Is that what she said?”

“She didn’t say it I just figured that’s what she did.”

“Then no.”

“Toa, have you remembered anything else?”

“I wonder if the Walstein meat is still on sale?”

“You’re talking about meat again?! We have to do something about Nems dislike of the Silvervine otherwise she’ll be caught by strange men again.”

“Nem, how’s this?”

Sierra pulled out a bottle from behind her back, inside was silver vine mixed in with other things to create a kind of liquor.

“Ah!” Nem hid behind my back.

“Sierra that’s enough, stop already.”

“O-k” Sierra looked a little sad.

“Nem, what about this?”

I pulled out some torn leaves, causing her to jump and back away.

“Here.” I tore it into bite size pieces and let her see me eat some. “It’s OK to eat.”

“I don’t want to. I give up trying to build a resistance to it.”

“This isn’t going to upset my stomach is it?”

“If it’s you Masamune, your status should be able to handle it. Why are you worried?”

“I was asking just in case.

“Nem wants you to keep things that make you sick away from Nem! I was able to live just fine without being resistant to it.”

“But that’s why you got caught and I had to help you. I won’t always be right next to you…… As I thought I have to do something about this.”

“Enough already.” Nem seemed depressed.

Then as if remembering something she suddenly looked up.

“More importantly teach me to use a sword like when you defeated that smelly lady!”

“Smelly lady?…..oh, her, all I did was swing it?”

“Well then what about that time you defeated a basilisk.”

“Nem, the truth is. That can’t be learned without having a resistance to silvervine.”

“Master.” Nem glared. “Stop lying just because I’m a kid.”

“But even if you could use a sword, after just a little bit of silvervine you’d get all dizzy.”

“It’ll be fine once I grow up.”

“Oh! I have a great idea.”

Nem watched me suspiciously.

“Keep your arms just like this.”

“Ok….”

I gave Sierra the silver vine and told her to hold her arm out. Then I put Nem on my shoulders.

“Ok, now Nem, all you have to do is stick out your arm. I’ll use 《God Speed》and then it’ll hit your arm.”

“What are you talking about?!” Nem clung to my head.

“Relax, it’s hard to touch it normally because you hate it so much right?”

“………..” Nem nodded.

“So we have no choice but to make it happen in am instant! By the time you notice you’ll have already touched it.”

“Isnt this getting a little ridiculous?”

Toa was reclining in a chair next to a round table with a white umbrella, as she sipped old gert from a glass. She looked quite relaxed.

“You don’t have to build a resistance to it right away, but if you can’t even touch it then we can’t start training.”

“Masamune let’s do it.”

“You’re really going to do it!?” Nem looked scared.

“Yeah, don’t worry, just stick out your arm.”

“……ok.”

I firmly supported Nem with both hands then activated the skill.

“Too fast!” Nem screamed.

“Its ok just keep your arm stretched out, well hit the Silver vine in the third lap.”

“Thats enough.”

Her arm came into contact with it in the third lap but she didn’t notice. Her eyes were closed as she begged me to stop.

“Nem, you just touched it.”

“It doesn’t matter anymore!”

After the 6th lap Sierra stuck out another leaf. I told Sierra before to let her touch it a few times and if Nem seems ok, stick out another.

“She has two! This isn’t what you promised! You broke the rules!”

“Nem you can see?”

“Of course I can see, slow down.”

Nem who was only level 10 was staring fixatatedly at the silvervine. For me the eyesight came with the skill and my level but Nem shouldn’t even be able to open her eyes. I stopped after 10 laps.

“I’m dizzy.”

Nem wobbles when I set her down.

“So you got dizzy after all.”

“Its not from the silvervine.”

“Nem, how was it? Did it work?”

“I don’t know. I could feel it touching me but I don’t know which one made me dizzy.”

“Do you feel sluggish?”

“No.”

“Really?”

“I don’t feel sluggish but everything is spinning. Lets stop training for now. ”

Nem went over to rest next to Toa.

“You shouldn’t go too crazy, Nem looks exhausted.”

“Yeah lets stop. It’s better to get used to it normally. Let’s try putting it in some food.”

Nem’s face looked cramped.

“Fine, we can just have you touch it normally.”

Nem sighed as I sat next to her so I cast healing magic. But she still seemed to depressed so I felt guilty. However one day we will have to find a way to overcome this weakness but, not today.

“Nem, why don’t we wait until you’re older for this training? For right now, how does lunch sound? There should be some Walstein meat left over.”

“Ok!” Nem brightened at the mention of meat.

“Yeah, there’s more meat.”

“If I think about it, there are things I don’t like too.”

“Even Master?”

“Yeah, for example bell peppers.”

“Bell pepper? What’s that?” It seems like it’s a food that doesn’t exist in this world. Even Nem tilted her head to the side and said. “Strange name.”

“Its a green vegetable.” I used my hands to mime the shape of it.

“You really are from another world, everything Masamune says is backwards.”

“Backwards?”

“I think so too.” Toa agreed.

“Healers always carry green stuff with them so I thought vegetables were their favorite foods. But it seems that’s not true for you. ”

“I think I prefer Walstein meat. Toas the same thought right?”

“If I don’t each vegetables my healing magic will weaken.”

“Is that true?” Sierra asked.

“It was a joke.”

Nems expression cleared up as we talked and she latched on to things that she wanted. “After we eat, Swordsmanship with master!” Following Sierra the two of them went into the house. Razhausen, that recently survived an attack, is full of banquets. Lots of food and alcohol, but it’s become a slight problem because it’s been going on for a week already.

“Masamune aren’t you hungry?”

“If you don’t hurry, I’ll eat master’s portion too!”

“Masamune what kind of Alcohol do you want?”

“Wine is fine, Nem leave me some food.”

“Itll be punishment for making me dizzy!”

“You really didn’t like that huh?”

“Its ok, as long as there’s no silvervine. Wah!”

I picked Nem up and put her back on my shoulders.

“Silvervine again?” Nems expression fell.

“Alright, food! ”

Nem recovered instantly.

“Go!”

We sat around eating, drinking and laughing.

“Master, Nem wants to drink some too!”

“Wait, thats-” Nem grabbed the glass and took a drink.

“Kuh- gross!” Nem stuck her tongue out, as innocent as ever.
