About starting a part-time job as a rental boyfriend and then getting a lifetime contract from the most popular heroine at the university

Chapter 19 - At the Game Shop

After parting with Jasmine & her mother, the two finally arrived at their destination.

It was a specialty store that stocked game consoles, software, and related goods.

From portable game consoles that you can carry around to stationary ones that you can connect to a TV, all kinds of products were available.

Moreover, not only the latest models, but also quite old generations were being sold, albeit secondhand.

It was a store that would make any game otaku drool, but unfortunately neither Haruya nor Akiha were that knowledgeable about games.

They had only played games like “Mao”, “Pomon”, and “Do** Forest” at an average level.

So even when they looked at many game consoles and software, they thought nothing more than, “There’s a lot.”

“What kind of game console does Hikari-chan want?”

“Well, it’s the one that can be connected to the TV and can also be used on its own… Ah, here it is.”

Haruya spots a game console released by a company called “Meitendo”.

The color variations included black, white, red, blue, and the recently released new colors, sakura pink and pastel green.

Hikari’s wish was for the newly released sakura pink.

“This is it.”

Haruya picks up the box of the last sakura pink available and double-checks the product.

The package includes the game console, two controllers, a charger, cables, etc.

There’s no doubt that it’s the product Hikari wanted.

“Now what…”

Haruya and Akiha then move to the software corner.

And Haruya picks up a game called “Mushroom Cart Hyper DX” that Hikari wanted to play.

It’s the latest popular game where you can enjoy car races using various items.

They’ve got what they came for, but Akiha was looking at the game software with interest.

“There’s such a variety.”

“Yeah. They have both new and old games, just like the ones I used to play when I was in elementary school.”

“It brings back memories. I haven’t played recently, but I should still have a game console and some software somewhere in storage.”

“You know, it can be surprisingly fun to dig it out and play after a long time.”

“Oh, I know!”

After a chat about games, the two head to the checkout.

Before announcing the price after swiftly scanning the products, the clerk said:

“We’re running a campaign right now. For those who purchase this newly released color, we’re giving away another controller as a gift on a first-come, first-served basis. Which color would you like? You can choose from both the standard and new colors.”

“Oh, really? Hmm, can I make a call and ask?”

“Of course.”

Haruya takes out his smartphone and calls his mother.

Hikari doesn’t have her own smartphone yet.

“Hello?”

“Hey, mom. Is Hikari there?”

“She’s here. Wait a moment.”

“Hikari! Your brother’s on the phone!”

“Okay!”

After hearing his mother’s call, Hikari’s cheerful reply, and the sound of footsteps running down the stairs, Hikari’s voice resonates from the other end of the phone.

“Hello, brother? What’s up?”

“I’m buying your game console now.”

“Oh! Finally!”

“So there’s a campaign going on, and we can get an extra controller. What color do you want?”

“Pink!”

“The same color?”

“Yep. Uniformity is important.”

“The reason isn’t very cute…”

He murmured in his heart, but he’s not the kind of terrible brother who would bluntly tell his sister she’s not cute.

“Got it. Then I’ll buy the pink one and bring it home.”

“Okay. Enjoy your date with Akiha-chan~”

“Huh… Wait! How did you know Akiha was here?”

“Eh!? Me!?”

While Haruya and Akiha, surprised by her sudden mention of Akiha’s name, were surprised, Hikari’s explosive laughter resounded from the other end of the phone.

He also seemed to hear his mother’s laughter.

“So you were with Akiha-chan~”

“This kid… She set me up…”

“Ehehe~”

“Well, that’s fine. Anyway, that’s what’s going on.”

“Wait a minute, brother!”

Just as he was about to hang up, Hikari hurriedly stopped him.

After whispering something to her mother, she continued the conversation.

“Mom wants you to buy some fresh cream. She forgot to buy it when she went shopping today.”

“Fresh cream, got it.”

“Also, if Akiha-chan is free, bring her… not lure her, bring her home. I want to play ‘Mushroom Cart’ with Akiha-chan too~”

“I’ll…ask her.”

“Okay, bye~”

At the end, she conveyed her message and hung up the phone.

She’s quite a self-paced sister.

“I’d like the controller in pink, please.”

“Certainly.”

While the clerk went to get the controller, Akiha, still a little surprised, said,

“I wonder how Hikari-chan knew I was here.”

“She has a weirdly good intuition. So, about that…”

“Wow, inviting her to my house is a big step! I’m getting nervous…!”

“Do you want to come over to my house today?”

“Huh!?”

“Hikari wants to play the game with you too. Of course, only if you’re free.”

“A date at his house!?”

Feeling her heart racing, Akiha hesitated before answering.

“May I…come over?”

“Yeah…got it…”

“I’m going to his house… I’m getting nervous…!”

Akiha has met Haruya’s mother and Hikari at Starbucks.

But visiting his home was a completely different level of nervousness.

Especially since Akiha had just become aware of her feelings for Haruya.

“What should I do! Should I bring a gift or something…?!”

In the midst of Akiha’s panicked thoughts, the clerk came back with the controller and quickly finished the checkout.
