chapter 39
39 – Adding a Porter
Adding a Porter
Moura hurriedly rolls to the ground to avoid the claws aiming at his head.
“Is the dwarf okay?!”
“Who’s the dwarf?!”
“I lived because I was a dwarf!”
Moura, a dwarf, rolls around on the ground to get out of the monster’s attack range and take a stance. Michelle, a beast-man girl who calls him a dwarf, throws her dagger to attract the attention of her monster, but when her ferocious eyes turn towards her, her Michelle immediately runs away.
When the monster rushes after her and opens her mouth wide, Calen holding a large shield gets in between and struggles to block it.
“Aww!”
As the monster wearing the shield shakes its head, Cailen holding the shield also shakes and flies off to the side. Kaylan, who was wearing heavy armor, squirmed in agony from the great shock and struggled on the floor.
Moura swings her hammer and strikes her side to get the monster’s attention.
“Dwarf back down!”
“I’m not a dwarf!!”
Moura shouts, throws the sledgehammer at all, and quickly backs away. When the fireball passed him and hit the monster directly, a large flame erupted.
“My God…”
Sierra, who had cast her magic, looked at the monster, which was a little burnt but no problem, and made a devastated expression. As if the flames clinging to her hide and fur were annoying, the monster brushing off her body looked at Sierra with menacing eyes.
Moura stood in front of Sierra, who thought she was rather angry. I threw away my main weapon, so I pulled out a dagger, but I don’t know if I can scratch the leather with it.
“Why the hell is there a Klein Chimera on the 33rd floor! I’ve never heard of that!”
Moura shouts, but she doesn’t change anything. Although the Klein Chimera is the weakest individual among the Chimera that is a mixture of several monsters, the Chimera is always feared.
A chimera is a synthetic creature, so it is created with magic and alchemy, but it naturally occurs in dungeons due to the nature of the combination system that copies the 5th world.
Whatever the reason, the Chimera, which should have been on the lower floor, appeared in front of her, and Moura’s party ran away from the Chimera and ended up here.
When Sierra, a pure mage, injured her leg and could not escape, she fought back, but their skills were still not enough. Moura lost her primary weapon, and Calen lost her shield. She approaches with Michelle’s short sword, but gets caught in her claws for no reason.
As Sierra’s magic didn’t work, Moura’s party fell into a crisis. The guy who used to be a porter has already run away. He doesn’t help anyway, so I don’t need it, but he’s offended and I can’t forgive him.
‘Though that’s something you have to live with.’
If you’re lucky, the porter will leave the dungeon alive.
But Moura’s party is over. With her injured Sierra as her bait, the thought of the rest of her running away crossed her mind, and he slaps her on the cheek to bring her to her senses.
Don’t give up in fear. He hates himself for thinking like that. He catches his weak self and gritted his teeth as he sees the distant hammer called Moura, and swallows his breath.
Thinking of dying from a funny chimera with a lion, goat’s horns, and cow’s legs makes her feel pitiful.
“Calen. When you signal, put Sierra on your back and run.”
“Dwarf! What are you thinking?!”
“See how these bastards say they’re all dwarfs when they die. Damn, I’m in a position to sacrifice myself for these ignorant bastards.”
Except for Michelle, Moura shouts in anger when everyone who calls her by her first name calls her a dwarf.
“So don’t sacrifice, we can do it.”
“What can I do? All I could do was kick him.”
“Do you know? If you hold out, another party will come to help?”
“sh*t. If the dream is big…”
Moura, who was conversing with Calen in the face of her death, is stopped by her distant voice.
As I was looking at it, I saw something like a white thread shining from the other side of the darkness, and soon a brown-haired man approached me with a bright face waving his hand.
“Hello~ Do you have a map?”
Looking at Lai, who walks casually as if they met on the street, Moura puts on a dumbfounded face. Approaching with a sunny expression, he waves his hand, not paying attention to the chimera in front.
Seeing Rai pass by, Chimera threatens him with a loud cry, but he doesn’t care and introduces himself.
“Nice to meet you. My name is Rye Redford. I’m sorry you’re busy, but maybe…”
“Kuaaa!!”
“Noisy.”
Chimera turns his head and opens his mouth, but Rai doesn’t even look up and punches lightly.
– Bahah!
It was a light fist, but a loud sound echoed through the dungeon, and Chimera crashed into the wall with her head bent. Moura’s party opened their eyes wide and looked at Chimera and Rai alternately at the sight of that large body flying helplessly.
“Ah… Were you hunting by any chance? Sorry to disturb you. I’m not dead yet, I just passed out.”
It is a huge mistake to intercept a target among adventurers. Even in the guild, priority was given to the party that attacked first so that they would not fight each other over ownership, and intervening in the middle was beyond rude, and even if they were attacked, there was nothing to say.
Moura, who was staring blankly at Rai, who quickly apologized while watching her notice, regained her senses and shouted thanks.
“Thank you for saving my life! I almost died!”
Moura frantically shakes Rai’s hand. Only then did Michelle, who regained her senses, cling to Calen in her happiness, and Sierra sighed and sat down.
Looking over the fallen Chimera and the delighted Moura’s party, Rai briefly shows a windfall expression, then turns to a friendly smile and looks at Moura.
“I think a party member is injured. Can I treat you?”
“No. He saved lives, but we can’t make them use potions. We have them too.”
Potions that heal wounds are quite expensive, so even a party of intermediate or higher level adventurers doesn’t carry a lot of them. Moura, who only carried one or two, mostly for emergencies, and could no longer be a nuisance to Rai, who had saved her life, refused.
“No. Because I can use healing magic. Potions are expensive.”
Moura opens her eyes wide at Rai as she shakes her head and speaks. Seeing her defeating her chimera with her bare hands, she thought she was a monk or a fighter, but she can even use healing magic, she says.
Treatment can only be performed by a priest with divine power or a pure mage with excellent skills. Temples that show miracles with divine power are ok, but healing magic requires a lot of knowledge, so you can’t see it often.
Even Sierra, a pure mage, can’t use her healing magic because her skills are still lacking.
“Mr. Hero is a pure wizard? But why are your fists so strong?”
“Michelle! Respect!”
Seeing her Sierra sitting beside her and her Michelle taking an interest in her, Calen freaks out and scolds her. If you can use healing magic with the ability to defeat a chimera in one shot, you must be an adventurer with at least an A rank.
“It’s okay, feel free to call me. No. A hero is a burden, so please call me by name. I’m Rye Redford.”
“Lai~ Thank you for saving me.”
“Nothing.”
Ray replied with a kind smile and looked at Sierra’s thighs. She must have been struck by the chimera’s claws, and she has a deep cut on her thigh, and her blood is flowing.
Sierra’s face is pale as she has already shed a lot of her blood.
“Thank you. It’s an honor to see such a noble mage.”
“I’m sorry. The wound is big, so I’ll forcefully stop it, so bear with it even if it hurts.”
Rai puts her blood on her finger and draws her magic circle on her thigh. Moura and Michelle, not knowing much about magic, only blinked at the unusual method, but Sierra hardened her expression when she saw the magic circle he was drawing.
‘How high is this man…’
Normal healing magic infuses mana to forcibly activate the target’s natural healing power. Since the energy of the target is used, of course, as the treatment progresses, the target consumes physical strength. Therefore, if too severely injured, the target’s stamina is insufficient and treatment is often stopped.
But the magic Rai used was several steps above that. The concept of using mana itself as healing power rather than the target’s energy is a way to follow the divine power.
The conversion of mana into the nature of holy power is a level so high that it can be called authority. You would have thought that Kaylan was A-class, but with this skill, she was at the level of one of the few adventurers on the continent called Unlimited.
“Huh…”
As Rai unfolds his magic, a slight fever rises from the wound and pain comes, just as he said. Sierra tries to hold back her moans, but Calen, who hears the sound rather erotic, turns her head in embarrassment.
“Hey, how far did it go? It goes through walls, so it’s f*cking useless.”
When Aslan comes shouting from afar, Moura’s party turns their attention to him.
Seeing the white line connected to Rai’s wrist, Michelle tilts her head, but Moura sees her familiar face and makes a happy voice.
“Zeroa! Cindy was there too!”
“Mr. Moura?”
Perhaps they know each other, Zeroa, who was walking towards us, has a bright face.
“Kids, send Cindy over here and clean it up.”
But the happy reunion is short-lived, and at Rai’s words, Zeroa and Aslan see the chimera stuck in the wall. Cindy quickly runs towards Moura and Aslan sees the shabby collapsed Chimera with her legs flinching in the air.
“Oh- it’s a chimera. What kind of thing is this?”
“Is it Klein?”
As Aslan approaches her showing interest, Zeroa also speaks carefree and approaches her Chimera.
“It’s dangerous! Zeroa, step back!”
Moura shouts, but her chimera, who has regained her senses, jumps up and attacks Zeroa.
She has a nervous expression, but Zeroa, who raises her shield to block her paws, reverses her sword and slashes her feet. Her chimera pulls her skewered foot, but Zeroa holds out, twisting her sword in her skewer and holding her sword back with her hand.
Then, Aslan rushes in and swings her club, which has turned into her half, and slashes her chimera’s head down.
“Sheesh, I don’t like the taste.”
Aslan, who was using a greatsword, looked at the club in her hand, frowned at her, and struck the chimera’s head down on the floor. Writhing in her pain, she tries to swing her other foot, but Zeroa protects Aslan with her shield.
One hand holds the knife, and the other hand blocks the attack directed at Aslan. Seeing Zeroa with one foot on her sword so as not to be dragged away by her power, she appears to be a skilled monster hunter.
Of course, her nervous expression looks like an inexperienced monster hunter, but she handles it so well that it looks like smoke.
She is so nervous when dealing with assassins that she is dealing with humans, so even Zero Ah is an academy student. She was prepared for the unfortunate incident, and she continued to train at the academy and Rai. She’s still lacking compared to the other academy students, but she’s strong enough outside.
After matching hands and feet while coming this far, Aslan believed him and hit the chimera’s head one after another, and the chimera, whose brain was damaged enough to burst out, stopped breathing.
Even though he was dead, Aslan, who remained vigilant until the end and stuck a club into his neck, cut off his head and kicked the chimera’s head that was rolling on the floor and asked Zeroa about it.
“Does a chimera die if she cuts off her hair?”
“Perhaps? I haven’t heard of any other weaknesses.”
Moura’s party loses her words at the sight of the two brushing away the blood from their weapons while having a casual conversation. Even though they look young, they hunt Chimera casually.
Besides, it’s zero. I haven’t seen her in a while, but she’s definitely a porter. She laughed as Zeroa approached Moura, who was confused as to whether her memory was wrong or not.
“It’s been a while, Mr. Moura.”
“Ah, uh, uh uh?”
“Yes?”
“Is it really Zero? Isn’t it someone else?”
“Yes, that’s me. Have I grown unrecognizable? I haven’t grown that much.”
It was big. Not height, but skill. Looking at Zeroa’s fierce face as he speaks while touching her head, he’s right. She heard rumors that she got into the academy, but Moura, who treated it as just a rumor because she said it was so hard to believe, now realizes that it wasn’t a rumor.
“Did he say something?”
“…… What are you doing?”
Asran asks Lai as he moves his fingers toward Aslan and Zeroa as he speaks one syllable at a time, Aslan smiles.
“Huh? I was wondering which bastard said it. I’m filming it.”
I see Cindy hiding behind Calen behind him, who is smiling happily.
She arrived and saw her rai touching Sierra’s thigh. Seeing Sierra let out a moan as if she felt something, though she said it was a treat, her Cindy face hardened and she hid behind Calann, avoiding Rye who greeted her.
Her quick-witted Lai realizes that one of the two of them was gossip about her wary attitude and is trying to find her culprit.
Aslan averted his eyes, Rai, who approached him before he knew it, looked up at him from under his chin.
“Is that you?”
“…… Yes, it’s true. I just told you what you told the kids.”
“There’s a guy who talks about men’s conversations outside? He’s not even a man.”
Ray grabs Asran by the ankles and beats him to the floor.
Zeroa smiles and explains to Moura, who doesn’t understand what the situation is.
“It’s normal, so you don’t have to understand.”
Cindy nodded her head behind Moura, who couldn’t understand more.
As time passes and Aslan passes out, the situation is sorted out. For a break, Rai and Moura decided to go camping. It’s not a safe zone, but there is a party next to it that can easily beat a chimera, but it’s actually safer than a safe zone.
Rai asked Moura to lend her map.
When Rai readily lent the map, asking if it could be just that, Rai threw it to Zeroa, and he quickly copied only the terrain in a straight line up to the stairs going down each floor onto another piece of paper.
Watching Zeroa copying hard, Rai, who was lost in thought for a while, looked at Moura with a strange smile.
“Are you going back now?”
“Yes, Sierra has been cured, but she needs time to recover, so she has to come back now.”
“I see.”
Her strange smile deepens and Rai looks at Moura with shining eyes.
“Then would you like to work as a porter for one day?”
“Yes?”
Understanding what Rai was thinking, Cindy patted Zeroa on the shoulder as she hastily copied her map. Cindy, who shook his head as he looked at him with her face asking why, points to Rai.
“Safety guaranteed. For 50 silver coins per person, 15% of the materials obtained from the Plus Dungeon, we will protect the way back there. It’s a pity to just go back after coming this far, right?”
The safety of the party is guaranteed with just one rye unless there is a sudden sound of going to the 100th floor. In addition, Moura looks at the other party members in embarrassment at the very good condition of giving 50 silver and materials even if you work for just one day.
Michelle pricks her ears and shows interest, not to mention Calen, who considers Rai to be of high rank and has her eyes of respect. The problem was Sierra, who was injured, and no matter how much healing magic was used, it took time to fully recover.
“Let’s go.”
Her normally inactive Sierra says she will follow her with her eyes shining uncharacteristically.
When everyone agrees, Lai holds out her hand without listening to Moura’s answer.
“Then thank you.”
“Ahh- I’m asking you to take good care of me. I don’t have enough hands to collect them.”
Shaking hands, Rai makes a fuss.
