chapter 6
6 – How to teach
How to teach
“Ugh…”
After the lecture, Philia let out her moans mixed with anger. In an angry atmosphere, the academy students avoid her and head elsewhere.
“hehehehe, Philia.”
A cute girl with pink hair is hugging her behind. Her body is also small, so holding the elongated Philia gives the impression of being hung.
Philia, who was frowning, looked back at the three of her embracing her as she relaxed her expression. Unlike Zeroa, who doesn’t know anyone at all, nobles make friends with children of their age through social activities, so there are many people in the academy who know them.
Three three of them are Philia’s irreplaceable friends.
“Why are you so angry?”
“I’m not mad. I’m just annoyed.”
“That means he’s mad.”
Philia strokes the pink hair of the three of them looking up at her bright face. With a heheheh-heh laugh, Sesset frees her arm that was wrapped around her Philia and they walk down the aisle with her.
“Does Philia hate Instructor Rai?”
“I really hate it. The human being called the lecturer has no dignity, and the lectures are terrible. The academy is not a place to nurture clowns.”
“Well, Philia, she came to the academy with great expectations. She jumped up and down in her bed at the acceptance letter.”
At Seset’s words, Philia blushes and covers her mouth.
“Everybody likes it when they get into a prestigious academy!”
“Amurgohlua… Ugh…”
“I’m not the only one who thinks it’s a natural reaction.”
“Oops, wooooo…”
When Sessett tapped her on the arm to save her, Philia, who finally came to her senses, took her hand away in embarrassment.
“It’s been a while since I experienced death.”
“I’m so sorry.”
As Sesset, who had barely been freed, was breathing lightly, Philia apologized to her.
Sesset stares at her as she lowers her head.
She has been with her for a long time, she knows that Philia is an upright child. She may be a bit picky, but she is a good person who always stands up to injustice confidently and is considerate of her surroundings.
She’s not the kind of person who will rudely ignore and interrupt someone just because she doesn’t like the lecture.
Sesset doesn’t approve of Rai’s lecture either. It is certainly not credible to say that it is a training method created by a bard.
That said, I don’t ignore it without learning it properly. From a learner’s point of view, there are more things that you don’t know, and there’s no way you’re giving a boring lecture at the academy.
Anything can only be known by experiencing it enough. Philia probably knows that well.
Except when she’s excited, her eyes for seeing things are superior to her own.
“Do you know something about Instructor Rai?”
Philia remembered the instructors talking about Rai, but she shook her head.
“…… I can’t say it. It’s about personal honor.”
“Hasn’t Philia already trampled on her honor? She said she was low-level in front of her?”
“Ah- that’s… Uh… That’s wrong. I was so flustered that I was speechless…”
Seeing Philia lowering her head in her dejection, Cesset laughs and bumps her shoulders. She acts cute, but her short stature stabs her shoulder under her Philia’s armpit, which hurts more than expected.
When Philia, who was pushed aside, grabbed her by the side and looked at her in amazement, Sesset was momentarily taken aback, but she carried on with her original words.
“Should I apologize because I did something wrong?”
“Ugh… I’m going to apologize. Even if I don’t like it, I have to. It’s because I made a mistake. But since I’m in a duel right now, I’ll apologize after it’s over regardless of the outcome.”
“Aren’t you putting it off because you don’t want to do it?”
Philia turns her attention elsewhere. As Cesset moves her little body to where Philia’s gaze is heading, Philia turns her gaze back.
“Philia-?”
“I’m going to do it. But… I really hate it. Look at that smirk. I can’t help but physiologically hate it when I say I’m going to do my own body.”
“I didn’t say that.”
Philia opens her mouth in tears as Sesset looks at her with her pitiful eyes.
“Is Sesseth on his side? Do you like him?”
“It’s childish, I’m not on anyone’s side. No, Philia was rude, so she’s rather on Instructor Lai’s side. And she’s pretty good-looking, funny.”
“Ehh- Do you like people like that?”
“It’s not my taste, but it’s good. It’s not authoritative, and it’s sociable. Huh? Come to think of it, it’s good as a husband? You’re young, but being an academy instructor means you’re competent.”
Seeing her serious contemplation, Philia stopped her, saying no for her friend’s future.
* * *
“You’ve been in trouble since day one.”
“Did you come all the way here to talk about that? If you’re going to talk nonsense, go.”
Layla looks down with her cold eyes as she lies down on the grass in front of her house. Rai frowns at her and shakes her hand.
“The deputy director is looking for you. He seems upset.”
“Yes? Then you must never go.”
“Do whatever you want.”
Layla shook her head excitedly at the sight of Rai’s face smiling single single as she hit her accident. She has a lot of things she wants to say, but she can’t because there are other people in this place as well.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Special training.”
“Ah.. Um… Hello…”
Leila sees Zeroa lying next to her Lai. She looks very comfortable to say that she is special training. Zeroa can’t wake up, so she asks for forgiveness and she laughs awkwardly.
She appears to be sunbathing peacefully. She looked at the two of them alternately, Leila sighed and left.
Lai, who had been still for a long time even after she disappeared, said while looking at her zero ah.
“Are you done?”
“Yes, I guess.”
“Then take it out.”
Zeroa closes her eyes to focus her mind, and she sees a hole the size of her fist breaking through beside him. Lai only blinks at the appearance of the clay doll he made while making humans.
“You really can’t do that.”
“Sorry.”
“No, there’s nothing to be sorry about. I didn’t learn mana control, so those who can’t do it can’t do it, and those who do well do well. It seems that the second step was too fast, let’s just start with the first step. Do as you did in the previous lecture. .”
“Yes, will it happen then?”
Ray looked at Zeroa, who was already getting ready to stand up, as if it were strange.
“Why? Aren’t you comfortable right now?”
“It’s convenient… But shouldn’t training be done in the right posture? At least like in a lecture, sitting down…”
“Why do you have to be in an uncomfortable position that hurts your back? Enjoy being in pain? Lie down.”
Zeroa, who was lifting her upper body, hesitantly lays down again.
In fact, this posture of her zero knowing was too uncomfortable. Her body is comfortable, but her mind is uncomfortable. She was terribly embarrassed when Layla had just arrived and she was lying there looking up.
She was worried that someone she knew who had done the unimaginable thing that the instructor had come and lay down and said hello was watching her.
“Concentrate.”
At Rai’s words, Zeroa looked at the flame and tried to control her mana. The swaying flame seems to return to its original form as it is disturbed even if it wants to find a human form.
Rai hits Zeroa’s forehead with her palm as she struggles to control her mana.
“Look relaxed. Get older and get wrinkles. Mana control has nothing to do with strength. Relax, relax.”
“Yes…”
As advised, Zeroa tried to focus on releasing power from her body and controlling mana, but it was not easy.
Rai was lying on his side, staring at him, and although the house is in a secluded place, academy students wandering around the academy premises occasionally pass by.
When an academy student recognizes Rai and greets him, he gladly shakes his hand and chats with him.
The number of people lying on the grass increased before I knew it. If one or two people are lying on the grass, it is easy to pass by, but if they are lying in a group, attention is drawn to them.
Some academy students pass by, see this side, flinch and turn around and leave.
Zeroa’s spark, which was not easy to concentrate because of the surroundings, was disturbed again, and he notices. Rai’s serious expression worried that Zeroa would be scolded, but he said something different.
“Was my lecture strange when you thought?”
“Uh… I don’t know, I’ve only heard it once.”
“Listen, I taught three classes today. But everyone doesn’t respond well.”
“I liked that it was comfortable.”
No matter how you look at it, the academy student, who is lying down and resting rather than training, says, Lai replies, “Oh, thank you,” And then looks at Zeroa again.
“I don’t have the experience of teaching kids like you. Anything strange?”
“Well… What kind of people did you originally teach?”
“They’re just guys on the battlefield.”
At Rai’s words, Zeroa thought about today’s lecture. It is not fair to say that he served as an instructor in the army, but he was not heavy or pushy.
But since she’s not asking about this kind of weirdness, Zeroah thinks a bit more.
As I listen to her past and keep thinking about it, I feel that Rai’s lectures are similar to those of an instructor. He teaches you how to do it without explanation and then trains you right away. If someone asked a question, he would explain it well, but basically, he got straight to the point and started training.
Compared to other lectures I took today, it is definitely different.
“Uh… I think I didn’t explain enough at first.”
“Wasn’t that enough? You taught me how to train properly.”
“No, other than that… Other instructors gave various explanations such as history and how to use them before going into the content. Instructor Audrey told interesting anecdotes about gargoyles.”
“Hmm… Wouldn’t Philia have been more angry if I had explained to Solterian who created the training method?”
“That’s right.”
When Zeroa nodded her head in agreement, Rai looked at her with her eyes wide open. Zeroa averted his gaze and quickly added his words.
“When I first heard the instructor’s explanation, I had a lot of questions. What is good about mana control, and why has no one trained on mana control until now? And so on.”
“Really? Um…”
Rai nodded and thought for a moment before opening his mouth.
“There are very few people at your age who learn mana control properly. Why? Except pure mages, they are of no use to you right now. Maybe they won’t be of any help until you graduate from the academy. There is.”
Continuing her explanation, Lai raises her flames high into the air, using the sky as a blackboard to create her drawings and writing. The splendor created by the fireworks draws the attention of everyone lying around.
“Mana control is essential for handling high-level spells. But, excluding pure mages and pure magic users, how hard would it be for kids who fight with swords to use it? All of those things become useful only after they build up their skills tremendously.”
A person wearing a robe and a person holding a sword are drawn, and a small person is drawn next to them, moving away from the preceding two.
“Being strong is necessary after all, but why are you learning now? Because it’s dangerous. You guys remember the first time you felt mana? The feeling of a foreign body entering your body. It’s frustrating because you can’t move on your own. Are you telling me to try handling such a dangerous substance? It’s like giving a three-year-old a cleaver and telling him to wield it as he pleases, because it’s yours now.”
As the explanation continues, the flames set by the people gathered around him disappear one by one, focusing on Rai’s words.
“That’s why you release mana. Cover it outside your body. If you go further from there, you strengthen it. Focus on learning only the skills that fit these three concepts. At the same time, while using durability and spells that can withstand even if you make a mistake, The ability to control comes naturally. Specializing in mana control is a training method based on mistakes, so I postpone it until durability is achieved.”
The small person drawn next to him explodes, but he soon turns into a muscular man and is showing off his muscles.
“There are many training methods, but I didn’t recognize that they were created by Salterian, no, actually, he himself. Salterian was just trying to perform. Anyway, Salterian’s training method is very safe. Usually, there is no mana inside. , But Salterian trains with mana out of the way. It’s okay if you make a mistake and explode. But the effect is a bit insignificant. Instead, it’s so damn easy that it consumes almost no mana, and once you get used to it, you can do it while sleeping.”
Two new people are drawn, and figures are piled on top of each person’s head. One goes up 10 at a time and the other goes up 1. However, the person whose 1 goes up continues to go up, while the other person has a long term for the number to go up.
“You can train in your life as if you breathe. It’s not a naive story that persistence wins everything. As you build up your skills, it serves as a stepping stone to higher training methods. But for beginners, it’s safe and sustainable The only training method that will be helpful is Solteria. This is the end of the explanation. Is this enough?”
“……”
After the explanation, Rai looked up, but Zeroa didn’t say anything, just stared at the flames in the sky.
– Mate
People around me clapped their hands one by one.
“This is a much better training method than I expected.”
“What did you do to explain this earlier?”
“Right, I explained a good training method as a poor training method. This is the instructor’s fault.”
“The explanation is a bit long, but it was interesting.”
The academy students criticize Rai for his poor lecture and praise him for his explanation. Zeroa also clapped her hands and laughed.
“This was the best lecture I took today.”
“Really? It’s annoying to explain. And it takes up too much time. Wouldn’t it be better to practice a little more with that time?”
“Shouldn’t you do it at least once? But didn’t you just prepare an explanation?”
“Are you ready? I’m just spitting out what I know.”
At those words, the academy students looked at Rai and her eyes lit up.
The reason why the level of education at the academy is so high is because the instructors put so much effort into it. Education is not simply about teaching someone to excel in their own expertise. Since the general knowledge and environment of those receiving education are all different, additional knowledge is needed to help them understand.
Instructors gather knowledge from various fields in order to properly explain to academy students and think about how to make it easy to understand.
However, Rai gave a high-level lecture as she explained without preparation. In the actual lecture, it was all over the place, but it is difficult for anyone to fault the lecture given here.
It drew interest by showing mana control skills right in front of me, and the explanation was excellent. Being able to explain this much without preparation meant that the skills and knowledge he had accumulated were great.
Although there were not many of them, the academy students who lay together and listened to the explanation began to trust Rai more and more.
“Ah, I’m busy with work. Enough.”
Suddenly Rai jumps up and runs somewhere. The academy students who had been watching blankly burst into laughter when they saw Vice President Bright walking towards them with a serious expression.
