After Dressing Up As a Little Fulang

Chapter 57 - Playing Time (2)

Meanwhile, Zang Ya led An Yun all the way through the Zang Mansion and out the gate. This time, however, they did not travel on horseback but instead took a carriage.

An Yun glanced at the carriage, which looked no different from an ordinary one, then turned to Zang Ya beside him. Confusion filled his eyes. He didn’t understand why they were taking a carriage. Could it be that they were going far away?

Though An Yun didn’t speak, Zang Ya seemed to sense his doubts and smiled at him. “The place we are going is a bit far. It takes about two quarters of an hour to ride a horse and probably half an hour to walk. Taking a carriage makes it easier. When we arrive, the carriage will wait for us somewhere out of the way, and we can go shopping on our own.”

Two quarters of an hour, half an hour—half an hour, an hour.

An Yun silently converted the modern time units in his mind and calculated. It seemed that taking a carriage would indeed be better. If he could go there on his own, how long would it take?

Thinking this way made An Yun secretly happy, and he looked up at Zang Ya. “Young master is thoughtful; it would be more convenient to take a carriage there. Otherwise, it would be too tiring to walk. Come on, let’s get in the carriage.”

Zang Ya took An Yun and prepared to step into the carriage, but he paused a step away from it.

When Zang Ya stopped, it was naturally impossible for An Yun to continue forward. He halted and looked at Zang Ya, asking curiously, “What’s wrong?”

Zang Ya glanced at the corner far from Zang’s house. Upon seeing the figure and appearance of the leader, Zang Ya narrowed his eyes slightly.

But soon, he regained his composure. He roughly guessed the purpose of this group of people, but it was none of his concern, so he saw no reason to care.

Thus, Zang Ya said nothing, merely shaking his head toward An Yun and speaking in a contemptuous tone. “It’s nothing serious, just some garbage that wandered into the house.”

An Yun felt a bit strange and subconsciously looked in the direction Zang Ya was gazing, but he was pulled into the carriage and didn’t see what was happening there at all.

Once pulled inside, An Yun understood that Zang Ya didn’t want him to see the situation outside. Although he felt a bit puzzled, he didn’t disobey Zang Ya and quickly followed his lead into the carriage, glancing over at the scene again.

.

After An Yun and Zang Ya got into the carriage, You Mingtang, who was coming from a distance, led a group of people to the Zang Mansion. One of them, a man dressed somewhat nobly, followed You Mingtang and watched Zang Ya and An Yun leave. The man tugged on You Mingtang’s sleeve. “Brother, look at that carriage. I just saw Zang Ya get on, and there’s a beauty beside him.”

You Mingtang was still lost in thought, making calculations in his mind. After hearing his brother’s words, he subconsciously glanced in the direction of the departing carriage, only to see it leaving without looking back.

Suddenly, the humiliation he had suffered at the Zang family’s hands during his last visit flooded back to him. He remembered the hurt, how it took him three months to recover from that experience, and the grudge he still held.

However, You Mingtang also understood that his family still needed to rely on the Zang family to survive. They had no way to bring down the Zang family, and he had no means to deal with Zang Ya.

Gritting his teeth, You Mingtang spoke to the people beside him. “No matter what he is doing, we are not here to find him. He’s not at home, and we aren’t looking for him. Don’t forget, we are here this time with a mission.”

His brother, You Minghua, immediately responded, “Yes, yes, I almost delayed our official business. The Song family has truly gone too far. It’s one thing for them to rob our business, but now they dare to blatantly dominate our territory and steal from us. Although they have the support of Old Madam Zang, we also have Mrs. You, the current wife of Master Zang. It’s not clear who is more capable.”

At this, You Minghua chuckled wryly, a hint of wretchedness in his tone. “This is why our aunt is so capable. She’s married for the second time, yet she can still win over Master Zang’s heart. Our aunt is beautiful and talented. If I were Master Zang, I wouldn’t be able to resist her charm too. I’ve never seen anyone like her in my life. Auntie is still stunning, even the one who just passed by wasn’t as alluring as her, given her old age.”

You Mingtang listened to his brother’s words, nodding in agreement. But as they reached the door of Zang Mansion, he adopted a stern expression. “Let’s keep what we just said to ourselves. Don’t speak of it here; otherwise, we’ll get ourselves into trouble.”

You Minghua nodded hurriedly in acknowledgment.

After a while, You Mingtang led You Minghua into Mrs. You’s yard. The arrogant expression he had worn moments before shifted into one of flattery and a hint of grievance as he saw Mrs. You.

“Auntie.”

Mrs. You was sitting in the main seat, and her originally cold face softened slightly upon seeing the two of them. “Why are you here?”

.

Meanwhile, when An Yun was taken into the carriage by Zang Ya, he was still pondering who had come over to provoke such obvious displeasure from Zang Ya.

However, as the carriage moved forward and he felt the bustle of the crowd around him, An Yun quickly forgot about the earlier encounter and began to observe the excitement surrounding him.

Seeing An Yun engrossed in the view, Zang Ya didn’t look outside. Instead, he picked up the chestnuts on the table, took the tongs, and extracted the chestnut for An Yun, offering it to him.

An Yun gazed at the scenery outside, felt the gentle touch on his lips, and smelled the fragrance wafting from the chestnuts. Subconsciously, he opened his mouth to eat.

During the rest of the journey, Zang Ya peeled the shells and fed them to An Yun, who eagerly accepted them. The two of them shared a particularly tacit understanding.
