Chapter 51: Hold Me Tight, Don't Be Afraid
Chapter 51: Hold Me Tight, Don’t Be Afraid
Ten minutes later, Chu Hanting’s phone rang.
“Mr. Chu, you were right. That heartless bastard really did plant a bomb here, hidden in the ceremonial flower ball. They were directly targeting your life. If it had detonated at close range while being held, it would have caused death or severe injury.”
Hearing these words, Su Mu beside him almost lost his balance, his body swaying and face turning deathly pale with fear.
So in his previous life, Chu Hanting had been caught in the blast at close range!!!
No wonder, no wonder!
During that time, his face had been as white as paper, and what did Su Mu do? Not only did he not care, he even mocked him.
How much pain must Chu Hanting have been in at that time!
Su Mu dared not think about it further. Just thinking about it felt like someone was carving his heart with a knife, dissecting it alive.
His face also turned extremely unsightly.
Noticing Su Mu’s poor state, Chu Hanting asked worriedly, “Su Mu, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“I…” Su Mu looked up at Chu Hanting, eyes moist and reddened at the corners, holding back tears that threatened to spill.
He suddenly threw his arms around Chu Hanting, burying his head in the other’s chest, sobbing, “Thank goodness you’re safe.”
Chu Hanting knew he was frightened and gently patted him, his voice gentle, “Yes, I’m fine, you’re fine, everyone is safe. It’s all over now. Don’t be afraid.”
Chu Hanting let Su Mu quietly sob in his arms, releasing his emotions.
Only by holding this person, feeling that the man was still safely by his side, could Su Mu feel secure.
Chu Hanting could sense Su Mu’s unease, but thinking of something, he still reminded him, “Su Mu, are you still going to participate in the competition? There’s still an hour before it starts. If we go now, you might have a chance to make it.”
Hearing this, Su Mu pulled away from Chu Hanting’s chest, lowering his eyes to collect his thoughts.
Right, there was still the competition. Since the situation here was resolved…
No matter what, whether he could make it or not, he had to try.
He clenched his fists, his tone determined: “Yes, let’s go now.”
“Good, Yang Hua is already at the entrance. I had him wait there on standby. Let him drive you there, Yang Hua’s driving skills are excellent.”
Chu Hanting had already planned this backup when he saw Su Mu appear at Chu Da Plaza, having Yang Hua park the car at the entrance.
The two didn’t say anything more. Time was of the essence now. Chu Hanting led Su Mu at a quick pace to the entrance where Yang Hua was waiting with the car.
After hurriedly seeing Su Mu into the car, Chu Hanting gave one final instruction: “Get him to the competition venue as fast as possible, but safety comes first.”
“Understood, boss.”
The car sped along, weaving between large and small vehicles.
Su Mu finally believed what Chu Hanting said about Yang’s driving skills – they were truly excellent. He managed to cut their usual thirty-minute journey in half.
Throughout the journey, Su Mu kept wondering if Yang’s driver’s license would be revoked after this trip.
However, even at this pace, they still couldn’t guarantee arriving at the venue on time.
The second half of the route was known for traffic jams, which was why Su Mu had planned to leave early originally.
Despite Su Mu’s silent prayers throughout the journey, fate showed no favoritism – they still hit the traffic jam.
At this point, even Yang’s superior driving skills had no room to shine.
Su Mu wasn’t the only one feeling anxious. Yang was too, having been given a mission to complete. But with the current traffic conditions, there wasn’t even a gap wide enough for a small car to squeeze through.
Even the most skilled cook can’t cook without rice.
There was another person worried about Su Mu missing the competition – Chu Hanting.
After Su Mu left, he handed all follow-up matters to Liu Yu, including tracking down the mastermind behind the incident. Liu Yu knew what to do.
Meanwhile, Chu Hanting went to the garage and mounted his motorcycle – a collector’s item he hadn’t had the chance to ride since purchasing it.
He never imagined its first use would be at a time like this.
Putting on his helmet, he mounted the bike with a cool swing, kicked off the brake, twisted the throttle, and the motorcycle’s engine roared like thunder.
It shot forward with a “whoosh.”
Every young man has their wild moments.
In his younger years, Chu Hanting had loved racing, but after taking over the company, he became too busy to indulge in such activities.
This limited-edition motorcycle, worth tens of millions, was something he’d spotted during a recent overseas business trip. It was the latest model at the time, and he’d bought it immediately.
However, it had been gathering dust in the garage since being shipped over. Today would finally be its debut.
Meanwhile, Su Mu’s car had been stuck in the same spot for five minutes. If they remained stuck any longer, they wouldn’t make it in time even at top speed.
Both men were getting anxious, but there was no way to squeeze through the traffic.
Su Mu thought about it and decided he might as well get out and run past the congested section, hoping to catch another ride afterward.
“Yang, I think…”
A roaring sound approached from behind, growing louder and drowning out Su Mu’s voice. Yang Hua couldn’t hear clearly.
“Young Master Su, what did you say?”
“Knock knock”
After Su Mu was about to speak, someone knocked on the car window.
Su Mu was slightly annoyed, thinking someone was causing trouble at this moment, and turned to look out the window with an unfriendly expression.
Yang Hua also heard the sound and turned to look.
They both saw the person remove their black helmet, revealing a face they both knew well.
“Mr. Chu?”
“Hanting?”
Even Yang Hua was stunned, as the boss hadn’t mentioned this at all.
As for Su Mu, his impatient expression instantly transformed into surprise, then delight.
He quickly lowered the window, “Why are you here? What’s going on?”
The motorcycle was clearly high-end, with its powerful engine roaring excellently. The black body was glossy and new, with a sleek boat-like design – narrow in the middle, pointed at both ends, and a sharp appearance that hinted at its hefty price tag.
The man wore only an expensive white dress shirt, having removed his suit jacket. The top three buttons were undone, collar wide open, looking less formal than usual.
Presumably from riding in the wind, his collar was slightly askew and his hair somewhat disheveled. Holding the helmet at his waist, his whole demeanor was different from his usual CEO persona, appearing more dynamic and alive, with an even more powerful charisma.
For a moment, Su Mu was inappropriately mesmerized, struck by the man’s handsomeness.
“What are you staring at? Hurry up and get on, we’ll be too late if we don’t leave now.”
Su Mu finally realized what Chu Hanting’s appearance meant and immediately opened the car door to get out.
Chu Hanting extended his hand, and Su Mu grasped it. They pulled together, allowing Su Mu to easily step onto the bike and swing his long leg over to settle in place.
“Put this on properly. We’ll be going quite fast, don’t be afraid, just hold onto me tight.”
Su Mu took the helmet, and Chu Hanting had already put his black helmet back on. Once Su Mu wrapped his arms around his waist, the motorcycle began weaving through the gaps in traffic.
