Chapter 7: Maybe Not So Well-Behaved
Chapter 7: Maybe Not So Well-Behaved
Half an hour later, they took a taxi to the bar Gao Yang mentioned.
“Su Mu, what do you think that driver meant?” Gao Yang scratched his head.
“You’re asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?” Su Mu pushed Gao Yang forward, “Come on, stop looking back.”
The taxi driver had picked them up from the college gate. Upon hearing they were heading to this bar, he’d given them an extremely shocked and curious look, then advised with contempt mixed with concern: “Take uncle’s advice, I won’t even charge you for this ride, let me take you back to school?”
Until they got out, the driver kept trying his best to convince them to return to campus.
Finally, under the driver’s head-shaking and sighing gaze, Su Mu and Gao Yang got out.
The driver’s behavior had made even Gao Yang, let alone Su Mu, lose confidence.
When they actually reached the entrance of Moonlight Bar, both breathed a sigh of relief.
At least from the outside, it had normal, stylish decorations, without any garish red and green lights.
They just didn’t know what it would be like inside.
“Why aren’t you moving?” Su Mu asked Gao Yang who had stopped.
“I, well, Su Mu, why don’t you go in first?” Gao Yang hesitantly said, clutching the bag of bananas they’d bought after dinner.
“Heh,” Su Mu’s mouth twitched as he pretended to kick Gao Yang’s behind, “Get going.”
In a corner booth on the second floor of the bar, there was an area that felt more serious than the surrounding alcohol-perfumed atmosphere, with intimidating security guards standing nearby.
“I heard the old man forced you to go on a blind date with a college student? Planning to rob the cradle?”
The speaker wore an expensive watch, pouring wine with elegant grace, his long fingers with distinct knuckles impossible to ignore, making even the million-dollar wine seem dull in comparison.
“It’s nothing, just going through the motions to appease the elders.”
The responding voice was deep and magnetic, pleasantly resonant with a sense of power.
If the wine-pouring man could be called exceptionally handsome, this man was even more extraordinary in appearance.
Liu Yu gave a slight smile, “You sound like such a player. What if that college student falls for you?”
“Won’t happen, not a big issue, they’re a good kid – excellent student since childhood, teachers’ favorite.”
“You’re that sure? No offense, but with your family background, how many people, male or female, wouldn’t be interested?”
“Certain,” Chu Hanting said confidently. The matchmaking was this afternoon, and the person’s complete files, from elementary school to present, had appeared on his desk that evening.
“I’d guess they’ve never even been to a bar in their life…” He tilted his head, casually glancing down through the transparent glass that offered a clear view of the first floor from above.
His words suddenly halted, taking an abrupt turn, “Maybe not so well-behaved after all.”
“Hm?” Liu Yu, curious about Chu Hanting’s sudden change in tone, followed his gaze downward.
On the first floor, Su Mu stood in a white shirt and black track pants, his neat short hair framing his face, leaning casually against a pillar while holding the bananas that had been thrust into his hands.
When they first entered the bar, both were overwhelmed by its sheer size. But that wasn’t the main thing – it was the cacophony of noise, the bustling environment, with drum beats that seemed to hammer directly against their eardrums.
That atmosphere of extravagant indulgence hit them full force, nearly making Gao Yang unsteady on his feet.
But Su Mu, after initial amazement, remained perfectly composed.
Gao Yang got nervous, and when nervous, he needed to use the bathroom.
So he handed the bag to Su Mu and ran off to find the restroom.
Su Mu shook his head with a smile at this sight.
Still such an inexperienced kid.
His previous life seemed divided into two extreme watersheds before and after marrying Chu Hanting – before was smooth sailing, after was miserable.
But that was a misconception. By the time he regretted it, he realized his suffering hadn’t come from Chu Hanting at all.
It came from his own foolishness and others’ schemes.
In his previous life after marrying Chu Hanting, he’d frequented many bars, often goaded by Su Ning to drink away his sorrows, then returning home reeking of alcohol to vent all his dissatisfaction and anger on Chu Hanting.
He had been so innocent.
As Su Mu recalled these things, his brow unconsciously took on a melancholic, slightly sad expression, adding a kind of fragmented beauty to his appearance in others’ eyes.
His sorrowful reverie was interrupted by a teasing voice. Su Mu’s wandering, slightly confused gaze refocused.
Without moving, he lifted his eyelids slightly, regarding the newcomer with a cold, distant expression.
Black studded outfit, long bangs slicked back with hair gel, red earrings – dressed like a delinquent.
Placing one hand on the pillar behind Su Mu, leaning in slightly, he spoke frivolously: “Hey beautiful, alone?”
“Tsk tsk,” he continued, “You look pretty young. Haven’t seen you before, first time here?”
Just then, unpleasantly close proximity made Su Mu frown. He tilted his head and stepped aside to escape from the man’s range.
His refusal to engage was obvious, but the man clearly wasn’t satisfied and tried to press further.
By now, Su Mu, having tolerated it once, lost his patience.
Strangely, in his previous life he’d been patient with everyone except Chu Hanting, never even willing to hear his explanations.
But this life was completely reversed – Su Mu found he only had patience for matters concerning Chu Hanting, becoming much more irritable with other people and things.
Perhaps it was the resentment accumulated over those twenty-plus years in his previous life.
It had changed his temperament considerably.
“Don’t flirt with me, it won’t end well,” Su Mu gave a final warning.
If the other party backed off now, he’d pretend this never happened.
The guy with earrings whistled, “Interesting.”
He’d thought he’d found a little white rabbit, but it turned out to be a little grey wolf.
But hunting wolves was more fun, wasn’t it?
Chu Hanting’s quick glance had caught Su Mu emerging from behind the man’s figure.
When Liu Yu looked in that direction, the guy with earrings was reaching out to touch Su Mu inappropriately. He felt the low pressure beside him and knew without looking that someone was angry.
“Should I get someone to…”
“No need anymore.” Chu Hanting had seen what happened.
From the second floor, seeing the kid about to be bullied, he’d cursed being unable to get down there in time.
He’d thought the kid would be taken advantage of, not knowing how wild he could be.
It seemed from the moment he saw Su Mu appear in the bar, things already differed from what his background check had shown.
