Chapter 246: Chapter 212: Evolution! Dark Realm Arbiter (Mega Chapter)
At night, Han Yuning looked at the two tokens in his hand.
One was a black crystal, and the other, a necklace embedded with a black crystal.
After pondering for a long time, he finally put the black crystal into his bag.
"Follow me."
Han Yuning said to Chen Xing.
Chen Xing followed his mentor Han Yuning deeper into the Shadow Giant City.
The deeper they went, the taller the surrounding buildings became, until even the stark white city walls were no longer visible.
"Sister Ning, this Giant City seems quite large." Chen Xing surveyed the environment, noting that aside from the main thoroughfares, the rest of the side paths were shrouded in rolling black mist, which he couldn't see clearly even when he strained his eyes.
Perhaps it was his intuition, but he always felt like there were lots of things in the alleys watching him.
"It's Ridden Ghosts." Han Yuning suddenly stretched out her hand and reached into the pitch-black alley beside her.
Her sleeve disappeared into the rolling black mist,
and when she drew her hand back, Han Yuning was holding a small white thing in her palm.
At a cursory glance, Chen Xing thought it was a little mouse.
But on closer inspection, he found it wasn't a mouse but a palm-sized, ethereal and transparent creature with two large, skull-like black eye sockets.
[Species] Lesser Spirit Ghost
[Attributes] Death
[Power Level] 13
[Power Level Cap] 16
[Weight] 0.01Kg
[Skills]
Primary Skill: Circle Curse (Mastered), Coquetry (Proficient)
"Squeak, squeak, squeak~"
The Lesser Spirit Ghost made a faint squeaking noise after being caught, sounding pitifully endearing.
Chen Xing inexplicably felt a surge of affection for the little creature.
But the next second, Chen Xing snapped to his senses.
It just used the Coquetry skill, which affects the emotions of the opponent, reducing their desire to attack.
Of course, it only reduced the desire to attack; if one truly decided to strike, not even a hundred acts of coquetry would help.
"Many of the cities where humans live within the Shadow Domain are infested with these creatures. The locals all call them Ridden Ghosts. They have no real attack ability and can survive by absorbing dark energy from the air, much like the rats in our cities." Han Yuning tossed the Ridden Ghost away.
The discarded Ridden Ghost clung to the wall like a lump of putty, struggling to move its short neck, casting a fearful glance at Han Yuning before turning into a white shadow and disappearing into the dark mist of the alley.
From its profile just now, this Ridden Ghost had no Attack Skills.
"We've arrived." Han Yuning stopped, facing a black building.
When Han Yuning stood at the entrance, the building's door automatically opened.
A grey gargoyle hung upside down in the living room, its claws crossed over its chest, eyes tightly shut.

Beyond the living room was a spiral staircase leading to the second floor.
Footsteps came from the staircase,
and a woman wearing a black gauze dress descended from upstairs.
The woman had a very pale complexion, unnaturally so, as if she were not alive.
Her lips were black as the veins on her exposed neck and chest were visibly blue beneath her pale skin.
"Captain." The woman kept an elegant smile on her face, glancing at Chen Xing with a flicker in her eyes before looking away.
"Ling Yin, I need your help," Han Yuning said to the woman.
"I'll always help you with your tasks, captain." The woman called Ling Yin bent down, her face close to Han Yuning's, "I thought you wanted to reassemble the team when I heard you were coming, making me unnecessarily excited."
It was only upon getting closer did Chen Xing realize how tall she was, over two meters, yet without seeming bulky; she was well-proportioned, especially with her straight, muscular thighs.
"There are only three of us left from the five. How can we reassemble?" Han Yuning shook her head.
Ling Yin stood up, her gaze falling on Chen Xing, "Is this a younger family member of yours?"
"My student."
"You became a teacher, captain?" Ling Yin was surprised, then her face showed a teasing smile, "That doesn't seem like your style, but what do you teach him, how to kill monsters?"
"Under my guidance, he has independently completed a C-grade project. As long as the student works hard, my promotion to full professor is just around the corner," Han Yuning said with a light laugh.
Ling Yin smiled wryly, yet it appeared that the captain must have moved on from that incident from the past, which was a good thing.
"It's rare for you to seek me out, captain, what can I do for you?"
Han Yuning said, "My student needs to make a trip to the Dark Realm, but I've never been there either. Being a local, you should know more than I do."
Ling Yin cautioned, "The Dark Realm, huh... It's not safe. One of our family's great elders once tried to uncover the secrets of the Dark Realm, but returned with his beasts badly injured.
He advised us afterwards to avoid entering the Dark Realm if possible, and even if we do, not to step outside the cities there."
Hearing this, Han Yuning frowned. She was previously told of the dangers of the Dark Realm by Ling Yin, but never in detail.
She herself had never been interested in the Dark Realm, hence she had never visited.
But now, warning bells went off in her mind after Ling Yin's words.
She knew which family Ling Yin belonged to, and the great elder she mentioned was probably that person alone.
Even he came back from the Dark Realm with his beasts gravely injured.
There must be dangers beyond Transcendence within the Dark Realm.
"His beast needs to evolve while in the Dark Realm," Han Yuning explained.
"I see. It seems there's a necessary reason for the visit. Alright, as long as you don't leave the city within and only move around within the Dark Realm's city, it should be fine.
After all, many people have entered the Dark Realm in recent years, and the dangers within the city are within controllable limits." Ling Yin thought for a moment, "How about this, I'll accompany you into the Dark Realm tomorrow."
As she said this, the woman turned to Chen Xing, "Speaking of which, I graduated from Jiuzhou University as well, so you should call me 'senior'."
