Chapter 26: Is he a Dark Mage?
Damien hated to admit that the man who smelled like a bedraggled goat was indeed correct.
He walked over to Nicolas and asked "Are you feeling alright, now?"
"I am feeling a bit better than before," the man nodded as he replied.
"Then let's make it completely better," remarked Damien as he activated his sixty-seven needles skill and summoned the fine needle and thread.
With the skill activated, he started sewing the skin which he had cut earlier.
"Is he sewing a human like a piece of cloth?" Luke muttered in awe while watching Damien who had already finished sewing the wound.
"That too at an incredible pace," remarked Xavier from the side.
"If I do it like this, his leg won't be in pain for long," stated Damien as he finished dealing with Nicolas's wound, the needle and thread vanished as the last stitch was made. "With the beastmen's healing ability, he will be fine now that the skin has been connected."
As he spoke, Damien glanced at Nicolas's leg and was surprised to find that the skin was already mending itself. Now without the parasites slowing down his healing rate, Nicolas was no longer in any danger.
"Congratulations! You have saved another patient! You are now one step closer to becoming the best doctor of the beastmen world, host," Dan congratulated Damien.
"At the cost of my life."
"Thank you very much," Nicolas said to Damien while sitting on the bed, the blood on his face seemed to have returned a little as he said to him, "I was sure I was going to die just like that.." though he was worried and filled with fear, he didn't dare to say anything to his family.
He didn't want to worry his family.
"I merely fulfilled my duty as a doctor," said Damien with a professional smile. He then stood up on his feet and turned to look at Gilderoy, "Well then I will be waiting for the payment?"
Gilderoy turned to look at the man slowly. His lips twisted in a disbelieving sneer as he questioned Damien, "What did you say?"
"Oh, you didn't know that?" Damien asked with an innocent expression on his face. "You need to pay me the double of payment that you were going to pay the healer. After all, he couldn't heal Lord Nicolas but I did."
"Tha—That.." Gilderoy turned around and looked at his daughter who lowered her head and turned her face away. She was obviously guilty!
Double the payment? Even he couldn't bring so much money so quickly.
"You are going to pay me now, right, Lord Gilderoy?"

On the other side at the Ivory Church,
"What did you say?" Lord Theodore raised his head and looked at the man in front of him. "Lord Wolfe had asked for the request to be cancelled and the payment to be returned?"
"Yes," the lower-ranking healer nodded and replied. "Lord Gilderoy said that someone has accepted and fulfilled the request of healing Lord Nicolas."
"Impossible!" Theodore's aide, Grover spoke disdainfully. "There is no way anyone could have healed Lord Nicolas when Lord Theodore couldn't, what are you even talking about?"
It wasn't Grover's fault to reject the notion outright as Lord Theodore was someone who could even aim for the higher churches, so how could someone save the patient whom even Lord Theodore deemed as beyond saving?
"Calm down, Grover," Lord Theodore raised his hand and turned to look at the healer. "Are you certain about this? Am I to assume that there was no miscommunication?"
"Yes, I am certain," the lower-ranking healer replied.
Lord Theodore frowned but still nodded, "Very well, then keep the visiting charges and hand the rest to me. I will go and return the payment."
"Lord Theodore! Why do you need to do such a menial task?" Grover asked with shock written on his face. Lord Theodore was one of the highest-ranking healers of the Ivory Church, why would he do the job of the servants?
"Of course, I need to take a look at Lord Nicolas's condition. I am afraid that there might be black magic involved," sighed Lord Theodore with a new headache.
After all, an injury like that—how could anyone heal it?
As soon as Lord Theodore finished speaking Grover and the other healer seemed to have an epiphany. Indeed, there was a good chance that Lord Gilderoy had called a dark mage or warlock to treat his son.
He was a father after all, neither of them believed that Lord Gilderoy would have given up on his son.
But the question was who was this dark warlock?
"Achoo!" Damien sneezed as he walked to the small mansion where he saw two people waiting for him. "What are you doing here?" He asked his siblings.
"What do you mean by those words, Brother Damien?" Henry said with a reproachful voice. "The servants told us that you were taken away to the dungeons. Of course, we were waiting for you to return, are you alright?"
He looked at Damie from head to toe as if trying to see if his brother was injured somewhere after being locked up in the dungeons for an entire night.
"Brother, did you make a mistake?" Priscilla asked worriedly. "You shouldn't make mistakes, it will not be good for us."
"Your brother didn't make a mistake," Damien said to the little girl, he raised his hand and patted the girl on her head. "In fact, I have done something good."
"Something good? If you had something good then it would not have landed you in the prison, Brother Damien," said Henry with a frown on his face. "There is no need to lie to us, brother. You can tell us the truth."
"I am telling you! I did not do anything wrong, I am not lying," said Damien but when the two of them did not believe him and continued staring at him, he turned to look at Xavier and said to him, "You tell them!"
********************************************************************************************
"What do you want me to tell the young master and Miss, Lord Damien?" Xavier asked as he stepped closer to where Damien was standing.
As soon as he approached, Henry and Priscilla turned wary. They eyed Xavier suspiciously and took a step back simultaneously.
With how the Wolfe family had treated them, this was a natural reaction.
Xavier felt slightly uncomfortable under their gazes.
Damien looked at his siblings and turned to look at Xavier, his lips curled up slightly as he whispered, "It seems like Mister Popular is also hated huh?"
"Please don't tease me, Lord Damien," said Xavier as he changed the topic before Damien could tease him any further, "Anyway why did you call me? In the past, you usually hated it when I got too close to your siblings."
His words seemed to be spoken in a casual tone, but Damien could see that the man was eyeing him suspiciously.
He was still doubtful of him eh? Damien thought to himself.
"The servants told them that I was taken away to the dungeons because I did something wrong," said Damien. "Tell them that there is no need to worry and I did a good thing and not a bad one."
Xavier glanced at Damien who looked back at him impertinently.
A sigh escaped Xavier's lips as he raised his head and then said to Henry and Priscilla, "It is the truth that Lord Damien was taken to the dungeons."
"Hey!"
"But it was all a big misunderstanding," Xavier continued speaking as if he could not hear Damien's outraged voice. He opened his eyes and gently gazed at the two children, "Your brother had done something great for which he would be rewarded."
Though Henry still seemed a bit suspicious, Priscilla seemed to believe Xavier as the man gave off the vibe of a man who would never lie.
"That's great, Brotehr Damien! As long as you are alright, our family won't have to worry about being kicked out," said Priscilla, causing both Damien and Xavier to look at her.
"Miss Priscilla, did someone tell you that you will be kicked out of the mansion?" Xavier asked sharply.
Henry turned and glared at Priscilla who had slipped up, the little girl lowered her head and said, "No—No.."
"Prisci, it is not good to lie. Good children do not lie," Damien knew that the condition of this family was not good but he never thought that it was so perilous that even servants who were no different from slaves would stomp on the head of their heads.
When Priscilla heard Damien's words, she panicked and cried out loud, "I am not a bad girl! It—it was my maid, she was the one who told me that I would be kicked out and have to live like a beggar."
"She also stole my hairpins," Priscilla added in a sullen tone.
Hearing her words, Damien turned to look at Xavier and sneered, "It seems like your lord and lady have hired some really good servants for my family."
Though their title was that of the slaves, the Wolfe family had still given them servants as Damien even if only in name was still Wistoria's husband.
Xavier closed his eyes and sighed. He said to Priscilla, "Miss, can you tell me where your maid is?"
