AI Doctor : From Slave to Beast King

Chapter 35: Joining an adventure guild

"A guild huh?" Damien muttered with his hands behind his head as he walked past the bustling crowd on the streets.

Though the city was attacked by Bannppe wolves a few days ago, it seemed to be bustling with excitement. Beastmen and Beast women were walking around the streets, with smiles on their faces.

All of them were carrying a bowl of watery soup in their hands.

"Is something going on today?" He asked Xavier who was following behind him.

The man raised his gaze and studied Damien with a lightly inquisitive expression before replying, "Today is Thursday. People worship the beast god today and the church also hands out a bowl of soup which is cooked in diluted holy water."

"This is something that you ought to know right?" He asked with a suspicious look and Damien glanced at him before thickening his skin. He rolled his eyes and pretended to be annoyed before saying, "I didn't know that it was Thursday. I thought it was Tuesday, there is no need to look at me like I have committed murder."

"What now can't I even misunderstand? Is it a crime too?" He questioned Xavier who didn't say anything for a long time causing Damien to start sweating.

It was after a very long pause that Xavier answered, "No, it is not."

Overjoyed by the fact that his plan had worked, Damien snorted before turning his face to the front. "I thought so."

The two of them walked for a long time before Xavier brought Damien to a guild. It must have been a rather popular guild as it was located in the middle of the town, and with a rather gigantic building.

Damien had to stretch his neck back such that he could look at the top of the building.

"Fallen Star," he mused as he read the name written on the guild's board. "That's some depressing name."

Xavier glanced at him before stating, "This guild was established by the comrade in arms of Lord Gilderoy. Master Godric was once a General himself but then he was backstabbed and had to retire from the military. He established this guild after that, thus this name."

"In short, he was either drunk as a skunk while naming this guild Fallen Star or he was depressed," Damien remarked. He ignored the look of affront on Xavier's face as he walked inside the guild.

It was one of the noisiest guilds that he had ever seen, not that he had seen many but Damien was certain that none of the guilds would be as noisy as them.

It was afternoon and yet there were more than ten people who passed out after getting drunk.

"Come on, is this all you can do?" A jolly loud voice snickered and Damien turned to look at a little boy who was holding a barrel of alcohol. He must be of age and just small in size because there was no way that boy despite looking like he was eleven ended up drinking more than six barrels of alcohol.

Damien only glanced at the boy, he wanted to tell him that it was not good for him to drink so much alcohol but he refrained himself from doing so when he saw that boy pick up that heavy barrel with his hands and start drinking big gulps.

"Shouldn't you do that?" Dan asked while flying next to his ear. "It could be seriously damaging to one's health if they were to drink so much."

"Well, I don't know if you know this but there is a thing called tact," remarked Damien while looking in the front while pretending that he could not hear a voice which no one could. "I can't just walk over to a drunk person and tell him about how damaging it is to their body if they drink so much."

"And you are scared," Dan deadpanned.

Damien ignored the chatty system. He knew perfectly well now that being goaded by Dan wouldn't bring him any good results.

The last time he let Dan talk about something, Damien almost lost his life. The taste of coming close to the brink of death was still fresh in Damien's mind and there was no way he was going to forget it in a hurry.

He walked to the large bar aisle where a woman was standing. She was a really beautiful woman.

With her long wavy red hair that reached past her back and hovered only an inch above the floor, shiny golden eyes and lips that were curled in a polite and enchanting smile, she seemed like a seductress.

The white robe-like dress she was wearing hugged her curves nicely.

It was thus not a surprise that many men were trying to chat with her.

"Gina, come on it will not hurt for you to agree to my proposal," said the drunken man slumped on the bar counter. "I mean there are only three times you can…"

Damien didn't know what he meant three times as the man stopped speaking and started snoring.

Gina, the bartender, turned to look at Damien and Xavier. The two furry ears on her head twitched before she summoned them back.

"Hello, good afternoon, Lord Xavier," she greeted Xavier before saying, "How can I help you today?"

"Gina," Xavier nodded at the woman before turning to look at Damien. "We are here to get Lord Damien to become a member of your guild."

No sooner did he finish speaking the rowdy guild turned silent. At first, there was only silence before the crowd started hissing.

"A member? A member of our guild but he is useless."

"Without a beast nucleus, what could he even do?"

"It's a shame."

All kinds of remarks and insults were passed around but Damien remained unfazed. He was not here to please anyone but to fulfil his ambitions.

He opened his mouth to tell Gina to deal with the paperwork or whatever was required, when —

"Silence you brats! Is this how I taught you all to behave?"
