AI Doctor : From Slave to Beast King

Chapter 71: Dash came dashing

Adikus looked at the man who stood in front of them. He was a short man, with a rather portly belly and curly black hair and bushy moustache.

"What in the blazes are you doing?" Azriel said with an annoyed voice, though a tremor could be detected. "Can't an old man get his rest? Do you have to cause trouble for me in the middle of the night?"

"It's not even eight."

"It is for me," said Azriel as he dismissively waved his hand. "Do you not see how old I am? I don't get paid enough to do an overnight shift."

Gina rolled her eyes. She glanced at Adikus before saying, "You have a patient, Azriel. He was sent to you by Master Godric." she added in a not-so-subtle voice.

Azriel narrowed his eyes as he looked at the dog beastman standing in front of him. After a long pause, he sighed as if the very thought of doing his job was tiring enough already.

"Come on in," he said.

And Adikus heaved a sigh of relief. He was worried that he was going to be pushed out of this building as well but maybe —maybe they wouldn't need Damien's help at all.

"Lay him here," said Azriel as he pointed to one of the beds in the infirmary.

Adikus did as he told him and once he placed Sigurd on the bed, he stepped aside, leaving enough berth for Azriel to take a look at Sigurd's condition.

"Hmm," Azriel peered at the cut that was still bleeding. "What kind of weapon was used to make this cut?"

"It was a dagger," replied Adikus promptly.

"What kind of dagger, was it?" He asked sharply.

"I—I don't know," Adikus bewilderedly replied. "He was attacked by a snake beastman earlier in the morning, we have been trying to stop his bleeding ever since."

"Snake beastman? Who?" Azriel asked. He turned and looked at Adikus with a frown on his face, he even pulled his hand away from Sigurd.

Adikus sensed something amiss but it wasn't in his blood to lie.

He was taught loyalty and honesty from the day he gained his senses. His father told him that as a dog beastman, he needed to be loyal and honest.

'Wear your honesty like a badge of honour, Adikus.' This was what his father had told him when he was only six.

And that was what he had done till now but his honesty had always been rewarded with jeers and contempt—

"GET OUT!" Azriel roared as he pointed at the doorway. "Leave! Shoo! I will not treat anyone from a lowly place such as the one where you work."

Martha blanched while Adikus looked offended.

"Azriel!" Gina scandalously chided him. "What do you think you are doing? These are master's orders."

"It matters not," snarled Azriel as he turned to look at Gina. "You want me, a healer of D class, to heal a servant of a brothel? Are you mad, Gina? People will laugh at me for touching a servant from that place. It is bad enough that he is a dog beast but on top of that he works in a brothel."

"Why does it matter where they work?" A new voice joined them and everyone turned to look at Damien who held a hand in front of his mouth and yawned loudly. He turned to look at Adikus and said to him, "I hope you called me to treat him. Even I would be furious if you called me when I was just about to sleep only to change your mind at the last moment?"

"Lord Damien, you are here!?" Adikus let out an excited whimper which sounded like a pup, as he looked at Damien.

Damien pointed at Dash who was skulking behind him. He remarked, "Well with him barging right inside my bedroom and carrying me all the way here without an explanation —I have no idea what you were expecting."

At his words, Maui the stead glanced at Dash with a hint of annoyance and blame on his face. He could have carried Master Damien just fine but this man just had to step in between.

Gina turned to look at Dash who was flicking his spotted tail and blinked her eyes. She asked in a quiet voice, "You did not kidnap a man from his bedroom, did you?"

"What are you looking at me like that for!?" Dash asked with a tilt of his head. He looked at Gina as if she was being unreasonable. "You asked me to bring him here as quickly as possible, and I did just that—what's wrong with it?"

"I didn't ask …" Gina raised her voice but closed her eyes and opened them a second later. She looked at the cheetah beastman and said to him, "I will deal with you later."

Dash who just did as he was told opened his mouth to object but Gina was already looking at Damien, "I am so sorry about this."

"It's alright but next time—I hope that they will just knock or something… for my own mental peace," Damien thought of how the mood in the bedroom had almost turned slutty.

Fortunately, he was still dressed when Dash had dashed inside or else he would be too traumatised to ever get it up again if he was brought to the guild in his birthday suit.

Though Damien did not clarify the situation by going deep in the details, Gina understood what he was trying to say, she flashed him an apologetic smile when Damien returned.

"And who are you?" Azriel asked while looking at Damien. His gaze was rude at best as for the rest Damien tried not to think about it, as he knew that he would be sure to get offended.

"Damien de Brsytoria," he introduced himself, with his hand outstretched in front of him. "I am a doctor who treats people."

"You mean to say healer?" Azriel corrected him having never heard of the word —Doctor before.

Damien smiled with a light shake of his head. He said, "No, a doctor. I treat patients without using magic spells."

Azriel looked at him for a whole minute and burst out laughing. "Haha, you do know how to make a man laugh boy! What do you mean by saying that you treat patients without using magic? How can that be even possible?"

But when Damien didnt go- sike, I gotcha conk— Azriel stopped laughing and stared at him, "You ..you are speaking the truth?"

"I am afraid so," Damien smiled dazzlingly. He walked inside the infirmary before pulling on his gloves, "Let me see the condition of the patient."
