Allen the Reincarnated Merchant: A Plan to Get Rich in Another World

Chapter 64

After delivering products to the Enfibe Magic Academy, I had enjoyed a peaceful few days.

While explaining the work I had planned to do to Eurua, even Aria, who lived with us, seemed to take an interest in the trading cards. In exchange for pocket money, she helped me with the card packaging process.

During the daytime, I was working at the brigade’s team house, having moved out of my personal room. There, I handled office tasks, greeted merchants who visited daily, and worked on accounting. Slowly but surely, I started bonding with the other members of the brigade. It was on one of these days that something happened.

“Allen, you have a visitor!”

I was checking stock in the food storage on the first floor of the team house when I heard someone call out from near the entrance.

I wasn’t expecting anyone today, but since they specifically asked for me, I assumed it was urgent. I wrapped up what I was doing and headed to the entrance.

“Kanon-san, who’s the visitor?”

In a hurry, I arrived to find Kanon, a fellow brigade member acting as the gatekeeper, sitting at the entrance and reading a borrowed volume of *Yume Koi*. While Kanon and I didn’t have much direct interaction, she was close to Ryuka and Razuri, which is likely how she became aware of *Yume Koi*.

With a snap, she closed the book and stood up from her chair. For a woman, she was quite tall—nearly 180 cm. As the gatekeeper, she wore armor typically used in adventures, with a black metal chainmail visible around her torso and a shoulder guard modeled after the skull of a tiger-like monster on her right side.

Next to the counter leaned a weapon, a buster sword-like blade that was large for a one-handed sword.

Although her personality came across as kind and friendly, her appearance screamed “villain.”

“They’re waiting outside. Looks like a student from the North District, I think.”

A student? For a moment, I wondered who it could be.

The only students I knew were Rey and Sakakibara. Sakakibara, despite his high status, was light on his feet and would usually send a letter beforehand if he needed something. Rey, being a pure-bred noble, wasn’t the type to come all the way here personally.

Which meant this visitor was likely someone I didn’t know.

Curious, I stepped outside to find a boy standing beside the team house entrance. He wore the student robes of the Enfibe Magic Academy.

He had distinctive curly dark green hair and sharp, cat-like eyes. For a second, I thought he might be a middle-school-aged girl, but on closer inspection, it was clear he was a boy.

He looked about the same age as Rey or Sakakibara.

“Did you call for me?”

At Enfibe Magic Academy, where the future aristocracy of the Kainriese Kingdom trained, only the top students were allowed to leave the school grounds wearing special robes granted by the academy.

The boy’s robe was made of glossy black fabric, with green embroidery matching his hair color along the edges. The inner lining, peeking from the collar, was white, contrasting with the black outer material, and densely packed with intricate embroidery, making the robe itself appear to be a unique piece of equipment.

From his attire, I could tell immediately that he was one of the elite students of Enfibe Magic Academy. That also implied he likely came from a noble background, which raised another question in my mind.

“Yes, my name is Diero Porthley. I’ve come here today because I have business with you, Allen.”

Porthley. Upon hearing that, I instantly knew he was from a noble family, though I didn’t recognize the name.

I thought I had memorized most of the noble families in the capital, but it seemed I had overlooked this one.

“It’s understandable that you wouldn’t know my family. My home is a barony in the northern part of the kingdom, so we aren’t from around here.”

“I see.”

There are nearly a hundred noble families in the capital alone, so I had suspected as much. Diero confirmed that he was from the northern region of the Kainriese Kingdom.

Many nobles don’t hold land but are wealthy aristocrats, religious nobility, or influential families working at the heart of the capital.

Given that I hadn’t memorized the names of all the provincial nobles, it made sense that I wasn’t familiar with the Porthley family.

“But why did you come to see me, Diero?”

“Well…”

I could roughly guess why an Enfibe Magic Academy student would seek me out, but I asked just to confirm, in case I was mistaken.

Diero hesitated for a moment but then spoke up with determination.

“I understand this is a very bold request, but I was hoping you could sell me some of the *Crossworld* card packs that you supplied to the Great Eagle Dormitory.”
