Angel Monarch

Chapter 32: Seed

Sera began from top to bottom, even though she was most interested in the Heritage.

<Nature's Call>

Description: <The World Trees are a race of sentient treespirits who are meant to support whole ecosystems alone. One particularly fickle, went into another Realm for an adventure. What she found was a dying Realm which she helped brought back to fruition.>

Nature called and you answered. You are able to control nature to some extent.

'This is kind of weird, the description of her ability is not even sad. All of mine are sad. Anyway lets see the next one.'

<One With Nature>

Description: <The Realm that the World Tree nourished, became a paradise. Forests so huge that the trees reached the clouds, animals the size of buildings and a sentient race called the Dryads. They all lived in peace and worshipped the World Tree. Until something went wrong.>

You are part of the mythical Dryad race. Your progression changes from regular Evolved and can achieve greatness, if you nourish your tree.

'Sounds ominous and way to end a description. Who ever wrote that is an asshole! Now, the one I have been waiting for.'

<Seed>

Description: <The World Tree's rule couldn't last forever, eventually she became too powerful and Mad. But with enough self awareness, she decided to leave her Realm, which she made and ruled. What happened to the Realm, she never found out.>

You have the Seed of Life in your soul. Great power awaits those who understand their nature, for you this is especially true. Your connection to nature increases.

'Finally found the sad part and what is this 'Seed of Life'? And this part about understanding your nature, maybe this is a clue to increase the Heritage's level or something, I will ask Bea when I'm finished.'

<Branch of Life>

Type: Weapon

Description: The Knights of the Trees swore fealty to nature itself. They worshiped the forests and thought nothing was above Mother Nature herself. In a war most of them died and this sword is a relic of that era.

Attribute: This weapon highly resonates with nature. It helps its user until they obey and take care of nature.

'Man, this sword is made for her. How can she be so lucky! I want a sword made especially for me!'

<Melting Point>

Type: Heavy Armor

Description: In the depths of a hellish Realm there was a race of Demon who swore to destroy everything. They conquered many races, but in one of their wars, most of them died and this armor is a relic of that era.

Attribute: This armor is imbued with the power of hell. It makes the wearer immune to fire attack and negates most physical attacks. It's a great choice of armor made for war, of course if the wearer is strong enough.

'That explains why she wasn't wearing it during the fight with Deathbringer. It's probably too heavy for her. But I got to the end of it wonder where Bea is at...'

Her thoughts were stopped by Bea's voice.

"Why is your descriptions so sad, poor doggy." Sera laughed at that.

"Believe me, I fought it and let me tell you that dog is an asshole."

Sera finally released Bea's hand to pull up the left side of her shirt.

"See that burn wound? That fucking Hellhound cut my side and it didn't want to stop bleeding. There was no bandage or anything to sew with, so I grabbed some metal heated it up and burned the wound shut."

Bea made a disgusted and at the same time pitying face, then asked.

"But didn't that hurt? Like a lot?"

"Did it hurt? Of course it did! I passed out screaming. It still beats drinking monster blood for a weak or getting stuck in a dream."

Bea's face could only be described as pure bewilderment. And that made Sera laugh a lot.

"Okay, at some point you are going to tell me everything about that journey of yours."

They both laughed this time, then Sera asked the question she was dying to know.

"I will tell you, but first tell me what your Heritage actually means?"

This time Bea's face was pure confusion.

"Heritage? I haven't unlocked my Heritage yet... Or did I?"

She immediately opened her status window and judging by the surprise on her face, she realized that her Heritage was indeed unlocked.

"Okay, so I unlocked my Heritage, but when?... Oh, I remember it was at the end of the fight against Deathbringer. But why does it look different from yours?"

"Well, I think that this Seed of yours is upgradable. You do not gain more Heritages but your current one evolves with you."

Bea looked at her thoughtfully for a while then she nodded.

"Yeah, probably that's the case. It's interesting, wonder how strong will it get."

Sera was more interested in something else.

"I'm more curious about how you unlocked it?"

"Oh, that is pretty simple actually. I just needed to accept my death. If I had to guess, this relates to nature's aspect to accept death in winter to be able to reborn in spring."

Sera's face was very sad and scared.

"Promise me that you will never do something like that again... I'm not asking to stop risking your life, because in this world that is impossible. But never ever dare to give up and accept your death!"

Sera was on the verge of crying.

"Seraphine... I can't..."

But before she could finish Sera cut in. And while crying she said.

"Please... I don't want to lose someone I care about again... Just, promise me... Please..."

Instead of saying anything Bea just hugged her. They both were crying at this point. They knew how much they've lost already so the thought of losing each other, was nearly unbearable.

After a while they both fell asleep while holding onto each other, for much needed support.
