Chapter 8: Chapter 8 – Sleeping Together
In the dormitory building.
Tatsuki led Yukino from the school building to the dorms, clearing zombies along the way.
Lightning Dharma: Northern Abyss Pool
This technique released a vast area of Yin Lightning that gradually covered the surrounding space.
These bolts greedily drained the life force of anything within range, except the caster.
With its power at level 3, the Yin Lightning could completely sap the life force of ordinary beings.
As the Lightning Dharma expanded, it functioned almost like a domain.
Zombies that approached were instantly killed on contact.
Tatsuki also used Palm Lightning, with the black thunder taking out large swaths of enemies in one strike.
Yukino contributed as well, mainly finishing off any lingering zombies.
When they reached the dormitory building—despite it being the girls' dorm—there was no time for concern over such details in this situation.
Tatsuki utilized the wide-range power of Lightning Dharma to quickly clear the entire building.
He locked the main entrance and reinforced it with heavy cabinets, ensuring their safety for the night.
Thanks to his level 2 physical enhancement, moving these cabinets was effortless.
Returning to a room Yukino had found—clean and relatively tidy—he saw that she had already prepared two beds.
She had also used her survival points to buy some food and water.
The dorm still had running water and electricity. Yukino had covered the windows and balcony doors with blankets to prevent any light from leaking out.
With the lights on and Yukino freshly showered, her radiant appearance stood in stark contrast to their grim surroundings.
Honestly, it didn't feel like an apocalyptic survival scenario.
It felt more like a cozy little home.
"You're back!" Yukino greeted him, walking over.
Her tone carried a hint of warmth, like a wife welcoming her husband home.
Tatsuki nodded and said, "This floor is completely clear."
"I've sealed the front and back doors. As long as we lock the room door, we can sleep peacefully tonight."
"Impressive, Tatsuki-kun."
"It's nothing."
Tatsuki sat on one of the beds and gestured toward the food.
"Go ahead and eat. Afterward, get a good night's rest. Tomorrow, we'll explore this place further."
He didn't have much else on his mind.
Sitting down, he began eating the simple meal of bread, eggs, sausage, and water.
While eating, he quietly opened the Apocalypse Chat Group—somewhere Yukino couldn't see.
March 7th: "Ah, I wonder how things are on Tatsuki's side. He hasn't said anything in so long. I hope nothing's happened to him."
Aqua: "Just @Tatsuki already! This guy doesn't realize people are worried about him."
Exusiai: "Haha, maybe Tatsuki's busy with something."
Tatsuki: "I was. Just finished off a ton of zombies today."
March 7th: "Zombies?! Are they the kind that infect you if they bite?"
Tatsuki: "Yes, it's that kind of zombie. This Apocalypse Game is about surviving in a zombie-filled world for seven days."
March 7th: "Wow! That's so cool!"
Saeko Busujima: "Cool? It sounds extremely dangerous. Are you okay, Tatsuki-kun?"
Tatsuki: "I'm fine. These little zombies are easy for me to handle."
Aqua: "Hmph, small undead creatures? I can purify them with a wave of my hand!"
Tatsuki rolled his eyes and played along.
Tatsuki: "Of course, Aqua-sama is the most powerful. So… are you sleeping in the stables tonight?"
Aqua: "What? A goddess like me sleeping in a stable? What nonsense are you talking about?"
Tatsuki: "Isn't that the case?"
Tatsuki was confused. Logically, Aqua should be sleeping in a stable by now.
Aqua: "Hmph! You underestimate me. I easily found a well-paying job with just a glimpse of my divine talent. I'm staying in a high-end inn!"
Tatsuki: "What about the person who brought you to that other world?"
Aqua: "Hah? Don't bring up that jerk. Who knows which city he's in now."
"…"
Tatsuki got the message.
Clearly, Aqua's situation wasn't the same as in the anime.
He was relieved that he hadn't said too much.
And even more relieved that he hadn't tried to play the all-knowing sage to trick anyone.
The more you say, the more mistakes you make.
Reality often diverged greatly from fiction.
Some things needed to be confirmed with one's own eyes.
Exusiai: "Uh… what are zombies? Are they really that scary?"
March 7th: "Oh? It seems like you don't understand at all. Exusiai, let me explain it to you!"
March 7th: "So, it's like this and like that…"
Exusiai: "Eek! Zombies sound terrifying! They're even scarier than Oripathy contagion."
In terms of infectiousness, the zombie virus did spread much faster.
Saeko Busujima: "By the way, Tatsuki-kun, have you noticed? The chat group seems to have a new feature."
Tatsuki: "Oh? Let me check."
A new feature?
Curious, Tatsuki opened the feature interface.
His eyes lit up.
There were indeed new features—three, in fact.
