All the team members couldn't help but exclaim that the boss was indeed impressive.

This referred to Ye Zian's immense storage capacity; he could fit anything in his space.

With everyone enviously watching, Ye Zian headed back to the sixth floor, which looked just like it did when he first arrived.

However, Ye Zian felt that something was off.

After careful consideration, he realized the answer.

Why had the two mutated dogs appeared one after the other instead of attacking together? Wasn't this a way to divide their forces and weaken their strength? Recalling the attack pattern of the second mutated dog, it was clear it wanted to take both Ye Zian and Chen Ruoxue down with it.

Understanding the key point, Ye Zian knew they must have been guarding something.

What could compel them to sacrifice their lives to protect? Only the puppies of the mutated dogs could be that important.

"Search the area; there may be mutated puppies on this floor. Leave them alone."

Upon receiving the order, the thirty-odd team members quickly split into groups of five to search for the mutated puppies.

"I found them!" one of the team members shouted to Ye Zian, who immediately rushed over.

In a corner of a cinema, five freshly born puppies were huddled together, trying to keep warm. Their eyes were still closed, and they were covered in slime that had not yet been cleaned off.

What a lovely litter! If these five mutated dogs could be successfully tamed, they would be a significant asset to the fortress.

The team member gently pulled a cloth cover from a chair to wipe the slime off the puppies.

The puppies, unable to open their eyes, let out soft whimpers as they were handled.

Seeing that the mutated dog puppies posed no threat, Ye Zian instructed, "You two find a box to take these puppies back to the fortress."

After saying that, Ye Zian turned to head downstairs, feeling that today had been quite fruitful.

"Crack."

A faint sound came from upstairs. Although it was not loud, it was exceptionally clear to Ye Zian and Anna.

The upper floor housed the mall's offices, and Ye Zian had not sent anyone to search there.

He hadn't expected there to be survivors up there.

Ye Zian signaled to Anna not to act rashly and prepared to leave without drawing attention.

Just as Ye Zian reached the escalator, he quickly ran towards the upper floor.

In the dim space, two shirtless men crouched by the railing, observing the movements below.

They looked somewhat stunned upon seeing Ye Zian ascend; before they could react, Ye Zian struck.

He swung the Tang knife at one man's neck, ending his life instantly, and before the other could react, he too was dispatched with a swift cut.

Neither of them made a sound as they died.

Ye Zian glanced at the closed office door nearby. From the actions of these two men, it was clear that others inside had ordered them to monitor Ye Zian and the others.

Ye Zian waved to the team members downstairs, and Anna immediately led twenty team members to quietly ascend and follow Ye Zian.

Standing at the office door, Ye Zian listened carefully to the faint voices within.

"Boss, why haven't Dazhuang and Panzi returned yet?"

"What's the rush? Those people outside are of unknown origin, and there are those two big dogs down below. How many people have died in the cinema?"

A few voices of agreement echoed around.

Judging by the voices, there were at least seven or eight people inside.

Ye Zian gestured quickly and kicked open the door. The twenty team members instantly split into two groups, drawing their crossbows and aiming at the office's hidden corners.

The team acted without hesitation.

The room was immediately filled with screams.

After the second team finished shooting their bolts, the first team switched to steel knives. Ye Zian tossed a few glow sticks into the office to illuminate it, and the first team followed him in.

Seeing the empty office, it seemed that all their belongings had been taken to block the escalator on the sixth floor.

The barriers had not been meant to prevent other survivors from reaching the sixth floor but to stop the two mutated dogs from coming up to the seventh floor.

On the ground lay seven or eight men in security uniforms, groaning in pain.

These men were likely the owners of the footprints seen downstairs.

Ye Zian had thought they would meet their end in the dogs' bellies, but it turned out they had hidden here.

The crossbows pierced their bodies, rendering them unable to resist, and the team members swiftly subdued them one by one.

On one side of the office, there was a tightly closed door, behind which faint breathing could be heard.

Anna cautiously opened the door, and a foul stench mixed with the smell of blood wafted out.

Three naked female corpses lay sprawled across a table, covered in bruises. In the corner, one girl lay semi-conscious, staring blankly at the ceiling, lost in thought.

The faint sound of breathing was coming from her.

The light from outside caught her attention, and she looked at Anna, smiling foolishly.

Anna, who had clearly seen her share of horrors, recognized this situation from her time as a mercenary; she had seen even bloodier and more brutal scenes. However, the team members behind her were witnessing such a gruesome sight for the first time.

They were all filled with indignation, and the outside team members kicked at the men.

The cries of the men echoed throughout the mall.

Ye Zian retrieved several pieces of clothing from his space for the team members to help dress the deceased women, preserving a last shred of dignity for them.

The only surviving girl didn't resist, almost like a puppet on strings, as two team members helped her into clean clothes and wiped her down.

Seeing her body covered in scars and scratches, the two team members seethed with rage, wishing they could tear apart those responsible.

"You scum!"

However, before they could take action, one of the team members outside had already dealt with those men, decapitating them and ensuring they wouldn't even have a chance to turn into zombies.

As the girl slowly regained some light in her once-dull eyes upon seeing her tormentors killed, she softly said to the outside, "Thank you."

Before anyone could react, she swiftly picked up a crossbow from the ground and drove it straight into her throat.

Blood sprayed as she collapsed, her lifeblood flowing out, and her eyes gradually lost their light.

The sudden turn of events left everyone, except Ye Zian, unable to react in time.

Seeing the look of relief in her eyes, Ye Zian didn't intervene, understanding that for her, death might not be a bad thing.

A heavy atmosphere settled among the team members. Although they had long known that such horrors existed in this world, witnessing it firsthand was far more shocking than hearsay.

Ye Zian exited the office, and the other team members quickly followed him without lingering.

The earlier scene left them genuinely grateful for Ye Zian's protection.

Without him, many of them could have met the same fate.
