Apocalyptic Villain: Female Leads, Don't Even Think About Running

Chapter 62: Chapter 61: The Zombie Queen Liu Sisi

Ouyang Zhen did not respond to his wife's words; his gaze silently rested on the photograph in her hands.

In the photo, the newborn Ouyang Xue was held in Xie Wan's arms, her chubby little face smiling sweetly, while Xie Wan leaned happily against her husband.

A blissful family of three, even the usually meticulous Ouyang Zhen showed a rare, faint smile on his face.

Xie Wan tentatively suggested, "Why don't you send someone to Xiacheng to bring our daughter back?"

Her words interrupted Ouyang Zhen's thoughts. The usually gentle Ouyang Zhen rarely scolded his wife, but he did so now with unusual severity: "Nonsense! How can I prioritize personal matters over public duty? You're well aware of the situation outside. In just the past few days, we've lost thousands of soldiers trying to advance just 200 meters towards Yanjing. Most of them are younger than Xue'er. Don't these people have daughters, parents, and brothers who need to be saved?"

Xie Wan received her husband's harsh reprimand after just making a casual suggestion. Pouting, she turned to lie on the inner side of the bed, facing the tent and turning her back to Ouyang Zhen. He had his reasons, as she only had one daughter.

Although upset, Xie Wan still left half the bed for Ouyang Zhen.

However, seeing his wife angry, Ouyang Zhen decided to avoid escalating the conflict further. He wrapped himself in his heavy military coat and curled up on the narrow sofa instead.

The two had been married for forty years and knew each other's personalities inside and out.

Ouyang Zhen understood that his wife had merely made a hasty suggestion out of concern and didn't truly intend for him to prioritize personal matters. Yet, once certain thoughts took root, they became hard to suppress, and he felt the need to stop them in their tracks.

As Ouyang Zhen reminisced about the time Xie Wan held Ouyang Xue, he recalled being nearly forty, with his wife facing the risks of being an older mother, nearly dying to bring their daughter into the world.

Feeling somewhat frustrated, Ouyang Zhen instinctively reached into the pocket of his military coat, only to remember that he had finished the last pack of cigarettes during the operations meeting.

The January air in Yanjing was exceptionally cold. Hearing her husband rustling, Xie Wan assumed he was freezing, and her heart softened. She spoke gently to break the oppressive silence in the tent: "Come back to bed. If you catch a cold, it would reflect poorly on me."

Noticing his wife's attempt to mend things, Ouyang Zhen quickly got up and approached the bed, softly reassuring her, "Don't worry; our daughter will definitely be safe."

Xie Wan did not say much more, simply responding with a faint "Hmm."

Silence returned to the room.

Neither of them slept that night, lying silently in bed until dawn.

The bright moon in the sky showed signs of slowly turning red.

At the Liu family villa in Xiacheng,

Liu Jie hid in the wardrobe, trembling violently, covering his mouth with his hands to avoid making any noise.

His elder sister had turned into a zombie, and not only that, she had killed the other members of the Liu family.

Liu Sisi had not even been buried before the apocalypse began; a mysterious energy in the air revived her corpse, transforming her.

Through the slats of the wardrobe, a figure clad in white, with a face burned by fire, paused in front of the wardrobe, turning to meet Liu Jie's gaze.

Liu Sisi's terrifying visage broke into an eerie smile as her murky eyes, through the gaps, spotted Liu Jie hiding within. Her claws pierced through the wardrobe slats, pulling Liu Jie out.

"Sister, don't kill me! It's me, Xiao Jie, your little brother!"

Under pressure, Liu Jie had no choice but to kneel and beg for mercy, hoping to awaken his sister Liu Sisi through their familial bond.

Liu Sisi clamped her hand around Liu Jie's throat, dragging him to the edge of the water pool in the Liu family courtyard. The once-clear water, illuminated by the moonlight, now displayed an eerie state, having been turned red by blood.

Surrounding the pool were at least a hundred headless corpses. Judging by the severed necks, it was clear they had all been decapitated by a tremendous force.

As Liu Jie felt Liu Sisi's grip tightening around his throat, he looked at the dense cluster of corpses nearby, including his parents, and felt an overwhelming terror.

In the next moment, Liu Jie felt himself being lifted into the air, the Liu family's estate shrinking beneath him.

His vision spun until he saw a headless corpse being pushed by Liu Sisi to the edge of the pool, bleeding out. Liu Jie's consciousness began to fade.

As the last drop of blood drained from Liu Jie's body, Liu Sisi walked step by step toward the center of the pool, her white clothing stained red. She casually discarded the fabric on the shore, and when the water submerged her entire body, she finally halted.

In the center of the pool, a strange black light emanated, and a massive vortex suddenly appeared. The water began to swirl clockwise, with the water level visibly decreasing.

Liu Sisi slowly absorbed the blood water into her body, and within ten minutes, the entire pool was devoid of liquid, leaving only Liu Sisi's pale form lying quietly at the bottom.

The gruesome scars on her body had already fallen away, revealing smooth, delicate skin.

Her previously murky eyes began to clear, and compared to her former haughty demeanor, her appearance now held an additional hint of allure.

Liu Sisi stood up, perhaps dissatisfied with her current state of undress. Hard bone armor began to grow between her ribs, enveloping much of her body, and a pair of nearly two-meter-wide black wings sprouted from her shoulder blades.

Originally, the sunken sides of her skull unexpectedly developed a pair of curved goat horns.

If Ye Zian were present, the villain system would undoubtedly recognize Liu Sisi's current form at a glance: she had transformed into the queen among mutated zombies, a succubus.

Liu Sisi felt the overwhelming energy within her. With a sudden flap of her wings, all the corpses in the Liu family estate were reduced to blood mist, dissipating into the air.

Moreover, within a five-kilometer radius centered on the Liu family, all zombies knelt towards the Liu family estate, even the other dominant mutated zombies were not spared, their consciousness instantly controlled by Liu Sisi.

Frowning, Liu Sisi was dissatisfied with her current power, thinking to herself, "Just a little more, just a little more."

Looking up at the round moon in the sky, which was showing signs of turning red, she felt an odd sensation that once tonight passed, the round moon would elevate her power to new heights.

With her enchanting looks, Liu Sisi revealed an eerie smile toward the direction of the Ye family villa, spitting out the names "Ye, Zi, An" with hatred.

As dawn approached, Liu Sisi turned and returned to the Liu family villa, waiting for the arrival of the full moon tonight.
