Chapter 26: Beginning of the plot
**Earth-66, 2012**
Later that night, Gwen returned home from her girls' night out, collapsing onto her bed with a satisfied smile. Spending time with her friends had been refreshing and she cherished the memories they'd made.
Moments later, Peter materialized from her body and now is lying beside her. She immediately hugged him with her smile widening, "Did you have fun?" he asked gently.
Gwen nodded with her face still glowing from the evening. Peter ran his fingers through her hair affectionately. "That's good," he said softly, but then his tone turned playful. "Though I do have to ask... why did you lie about being a virgin?"
Gwen froze mid-hug and her face began turning crimson. Slowly, she lifted her head to glare at him. "You promised not to listen to our conversations!"
Peter grinned unapologetically. "Gwen, we're bonded both physically and metaphysically. It's impossible for me not to hear or see what you experience."
"But you still promised!" she shot back.
Peter raised a hand defensively. "I said I'd try not to hear. Didn't exactly work out," he admitted with a chuckle.
Gwen's blush deepened and she began punching him lightly on the chest. However, her hits did nothing but make her look even more adorable to Peter.
Laughing at her cuteness, he pulled her into a hug and kissed the top of her head. "I'm sorry for not telling you earlier, but... it was totally worth it to see you like this."
Still red-faced Gwen buried her face into his chest. Her voice was muffled as she asked, "Can I have no privacy from you at all?"
Peter sighed and tightened his hold on her. "I really am sorry, Gwen."
After a moment of silence, Gwen said softly, "I knew you were lying when you promised. Through our connection, I can always tell when you're not being honest. I can even feel how you feel everytime."
Peter tilted his head in amusement, "Wait... you knew I wouldn't keep my promise and still made me swear? Even though it wouldn't mean anything?"
She didn't answer and her face is still hidden in his chest.
Peter chuckled while shaking his head. "Gwen Stacy, you're impossible. Even with our bond, I can't figure you out."
Gwen tightened her hold around him, "I hate you." She whispered.
Peter smiled warmly, kissing her forehead. "I love you too."
With that, the couple fell asleep in each other's arms.

**Earth-10005, 1983**
It had been two weeks since Peter gained immunity against his weakness in this world.
During this time, he discovered that the timeline hadn't diverged much from the movies he remembered.
His bond with Jean had grown significantly; they were now best friends. Additionally, he had made a new friend, Jubilee—a lively and cheerful girl who, after some time, grew comfortable enough to open up to Jean as well.
Yesterday, Scott Summers joined the school. Peter knew what this signaled: the arrival of Apocalypse. The thought excited Peter. The idea of consuming someone so powerful, gaining immense abilities, and potentially even Apocalypse's mental powers thrilled him. All he needed was to find a way to weaken the ancient mutant and then he could devour him to claim his strengths.
That night, Peter felt a psychic disturbance from Jean. Moments later, the entire mansion began to shake violently. Her room began to decay slowly from all sides.
Without hesitation, he materialised himself from her body and used their psychic bond to calm her raging mind, stabilize her power, preventing any more damage.
Through their connection, he witnessed the terrifying vision: destruction on a global scale. Apocalypse's rise brought flames, ruin, and despair. It felt like a warning—a dire premonition of what would come if they failed to stop him.
More than that, he felt a fire, so hot that can burn the entire world ready to awaken itself inside her.
Even Peter had a hard time to control her this time, but thanks to his adaptation skill, he quickly adapted to the load she was giving him and clamed her down.
Jean bolted awake, gasping for air and her body is sweating and trembling. Peter pulled her into a tight embrace and gently caressing her back. "It's okay," he whispered softly. "I'm here."
She clung to him, her voice shaky. "That was... that was... terrible. I saw the end of the world. It felt so real..."
Peter continued to soothe her in a calm voice and reassuring her. "I know, Jean. I felt it too. It wasn't just a dream—it felt like a warning."
Suddenly, the door swung open, revealing Charles Xavier and Hank McCoy. They froze for a moment, taking in the sight of Peter holding Jean so protectively. Jean quickly pulled away as Peter looked at them.
Charles moved his wheelchair forward, "May I ask what happened here?" His voice is filled with concern.
Peter frowned internally as he sensed Charles trying to enter Jean's mind. He already amplified Jean's mental defenses, erecting a telepathic shield so strong that it would take Charles years to break through.
Jean, now feeling more composed, explained the dream in detail and even shared the images she had seen with Charles. The two men offered words of encouragement before leaving.
Once they were gone, Peter sat beside Jean as she lay back on her bed, trying to find some rest. After a moment, he stood and lay down beside her.
Jean turned to him clearly startled by his actions, "What are you doing?"
Peter smiled innocently. "I'm helping you sleep."
He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, gently rubbing it. "Now you can relax."
Jean's face turned red and she stammered, "I-I definitely can't sleep like this!"
Peter chuckled, "Okay, how about we read something? I've got a book I wrote."
Jean blinked in surprise. "You wrote a book?"
Peter grinned and pulled out a copy of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He handed it to her, and together they began to read. Jean's tense expression softened as she got immersed in the story. Before long, she drifted off to sleep.
Peter smiled while watching her peaceful face. He closed the book and lay beside her, falling asleep as well.

Charles and Hank made their way toward Cerebro in a tense mood .
Moving in his wheelchair, Charles spoke first, "Her nightmare is different this time. There's more to it than we initially thought."
Hank nodded while adjusting his glasses. "I believe it might be connected to something I picked up in the lab earlier. There was a tremor—an energy surge of some kind. One of my meters detected it."
Charles raised an eyebrow. "Are you suggesting Jean caused those surges?"
Hank shook his head as they walked. "No, not Jean. I think something else triggered them, and she simply reacted to it. The readings were strange—powerful, and..." He hesitated. "They originated halfway around the world."
Charles's expression turned serious. "Halfway around the world? That's quite the distance for such an effect."
Hank stopped at the entrance to Cerebro with his face lined with concern. "Exactly. That's why I was hoping you could take a look. Maybe Cerebro can provide some clarity."
Charles nodded. "Let's see what's happening then."
As he spoke, a bright light passed over him, scanning his eyes. A smooth, automated voice echoed through the chamber.
"Welcome, Professor."
The heavy metal door slid open, revealing the vast, spherical chamber of Cerebro. Both men entered inside to uncover the truth behind the ominous signs that had begun to unfold.

The next day, Charles left the mansion with Alex, Scott's older brother, to attend to some business.
Meanwhile, Hank called Scott over to test his newly-designed visor—a device to help Scott control his optic blasts without causing destruction. With the visor securely in place, Scott could finally see without the fear of unleashing uncontrollable lasers.
Excited about being able to see, Scott made his way to the garden where he saw Jean, Peter, and Jubilee laughing and chatting. Intrigued about them, he approached them. After a round of introductions, Jubilee offered to show Scott around the campus and the group agreed to join in.
As they walked, Peter noticed Scott's lingering glances at Jean. His body language tensed as he subtly stepped between them, keeping Scott at a distance from her. Jean noticed Peter's possessive behavior and couldn't help but chuckle.
Jubilee who is picking up on the dynamic, made scott walk a few feet ahead of Jean and Peter and leaned over to Scott and whispered, "You should know Peter and Jean are a thing. They might not say it, but it's obvious."
Scott raised an eyebrow. "How long have they been... a thing?"
"About ten days," Jubilee said with a grin. "Ever since Peter got here."
Meanwhile, Jean decided to tease Peter about his protective attitude. "You better be careful," she said with a smirk. "Otherwise, people might start thinking I'm your girlfriend or something."
Peter sighed, shaking his head. "That guy... I just don't like him. He's way too pushy." Then he turned to Jean, "And honestly, it'd be better if people thought that way. It'd keep the other guys away from you."
Jean's teasing smile faded slightly. She hesitated before asking, "And what about your girlfriend, then?"
Peter stopped walking, surprised by the sudden shift in her tone. Jean turned her gaze toward a nearby window, "I know, Peter. You're not from this world, and you already have a girlfriend. You love her very much—I get that." She paused while gathering her courage. "But you're the only one who stood by me when no one else did. So, I... I..."
Before she could finish, Hank approached with a blue-skinned young man and a striking blonde woman at his side.
"Ah, there you are," Hank called out. "I wanted to introduce you all to Kurt and Raven. The guy is new here, so I thought you could show him around while Ravan and I have some... business to attend."
Peter immediately recognized Raven as Mystique and narrowed his eyes slightly. He knew she wasn't just here for side seeing, she's here for Eric.
Jubilee and Scott quickly agreed, taking the lead in showing the new arrival around the campus. Kurt, amazed by everything, eagerly followed along.
Jean went silent for her failed confession but Peter's mind is on something else, he knew today the mansion will be blown away. So, he needs a plan to make sure everyone here is out of the blast range.
He can count on Pietro for saving everyone, just like he did in the movie but incase he's late from the butterfly effect of his arrival, he needs to be ready.
During the tour, Scott suggested they go to a mall and maybe watch a movie, thinking it'd help Kurt experience more of the outside world.
Jean tried to stop him, suggesting they stay on campus, but Scott's enthusiasm won everyone over. Even Peter said to go for some fun place for which Jean can't say anything and Eventually, the group decided to head out for the day.
Unbeknownst to the others, Peter left a portion of himself back in the mansion.

Meanwhile, in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of town, Erik stood before a group of terrified workers. His magnetic powers crackled with restrained fury as he demanded answers.
"Who exposed me?" Erik roared with his voice echoing off the cold steel walls. "Who is responsible for my family's death?"
The workers exchanged panicked glances, their eyes darting around the room but no one dared to speak.
Suddenly, a swirling, translucent spiral of energy materialized behind Erik. Startled, he turned to face the phenomenon as a group of figures emerged from the transparent globe.
"Who the hell are you?" Erik demanded with his hands instinctively raising to summon metal shards from the factory floor.
One of the newcomers, a blue-skinned man with an imposing presence, stepped forward. His glowing white eyes contrasted eerily with his dark complexion.
"Stay back," Erik warned.
Ignoring the threat, the blue figure's eyes glowed brighter. With a mere wave of his hand, the ground beneath the workers shifted violently, and in an instant, every one of them was swallowed by the earth.
Erik's eyes widened in surprise.
The blue man's voice resonated deeply, filled with authority. "I am En Sabah Nur, the first of your kind. I have come to punish those who have wronged you, my child."
Erik who is still reeling from the display of power, watched as En Sabah Nur gestured to the portal behind him. A shimmering, transparent globe surrounded the group as the ancient mutant extended his hand.
"Come with me," En Sabah Nur urged. "Together, we will save this world from the weak and create a better future."
Erik's mind torn between grief and rage. He turned to glance at the now-empty factory floor, memories of his lost family flashing in his mind.
With a deep breath, he stepped into the transparent globe alongside En Sabah Nur and his followers.
The transparent globe engulfed them and with a flash of light, they vanished from the place.
