As The Only Mutant in Marvel

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Reached The Limit! The Power Of Tens Of Millions Of Nuclear Weapons!

Trident headquarters.

It took Nick Fury just five minutes to get back.

The tires screeched as he slammed on the brakes. He jumped out and stormed into the building, moving with the urgency of a man whose world was about to catch fire.

Agents bustled around, eyes glued to monitors and terminals. Most of them were running on fumes—working double shifts, sometimes triple.

Nick Fury's motto, "For world peace," kept them going even when their bodies protested.

But tonight, even Fury felt uneasy.

Cosmic Testing Room No. 3

Nick Fury pushed open the door and saw Hill standing in front of the main screen, her arms crossed.

"How's the situation?" Fury asked, walking up to her.

"He hasn't moved." Hill pointed at the figure still floating near the sun.

"Are you sure he hasn't left?" Fury pressed.

Hill gave him a sidelong glance and shook her head.

"We can't confirm."

Fury's eye twitched.

He wanted to yell, but he knew she wasn't wrong.

They weren't watching the sun 24/7—it was just a precautionary satellite, not something designed to track superpowered beings.

Who would've thought someone would be on the sun?

Even S.H.I.E.L.D., with its paranoia and endless resources, didn't prepare for that scenario.

Fury leaned closer to the screen, staring at the burning star.

"Don't let him out of your sight," he muttered.

Meanwhile – On the Sun

Lance floated near the corona, feeling the raw energy coursing through his veins.

"Ten minutes."

That was how long it had taken for his body to reach its limit.

He'd tested his powers before, absorbing explosions and energy bursts, but this was something else entirely.

Right now, the energy stored in his body felt equivalent to the combined detonation of millions of tons of nuclear weapons.

If he unleashed it, he could wipe out an entire modern metropolis—skyscrapers, subways, and underground bunkers included.

"Let's not test that theory," Lance muttered, glancing down at the roiling plasma below.

The longer he stayed, the closer he came to the upper limit of his absorption capacity.

Even with a thousand times enhancement, there had to be a breaking point—and he didn't want to find out what happened when he passed it.

"It's time to go."

Teleporting out of the corona, Lance reappeared on the sun's surface.

"He's back!"

An agent shouted, and the room erupted into controlled chaos.

Hill leaned in, her eyes locked on the image.

"Record everything!" Fury barked.

Dozens of agents scrambled, analyzing energy readings and trajectory patterns.

Onscreen, Lance's figure appeared again—but this time, he was wearing a black, form-fitting battle suit.

The sleek design reminded some of Superman, though Fury quickly dismissed that thought.

No capes.

And whoever this was—he wasn't the type to pose for the public.

"Sir, we're tracking his movements!" an analyst reported.

Fury's single eye narrowed.

"Where's he going?"

Back On The Sun

Lance didn't leave immediately.

Instead, he pushed his powers further—releasing a fraction of the energy stored inside him.

The sudden burst of energy propelled him forward like a rocket, sending him shooting toward the Earth at incredible speed.

"That's new."

Lance grinned as he stabilized himself.

Flight had never been part of his abilities, but with this much stored energy, it felt almost natural.

"I could get used to this."

Still, he knew this wasn't sustainable.

Using that much power on Earth would be catastrophic—equivalent to detonating a 500,000-ton nuclear bomb.

One mistake, and he'd level a city.

"Looks like I'll have to stick to teleportation," Lance muttered.

But for now, he let himself enjoy the freedom of space.

He surged forward, riding the momentum, but soon gravity began pulling him back toward the sun.

"Alright, enough fun."

With a flicker, Lance vanished—teleporting back toward Earth.

"He's gone!"

Hill's voice rang out, and Fury slammed his fist on the table.

"Where?"

"We lost him," an analyst replied nervously. "He just—disappeared."

Fury's lips pressed into a thin line.

"Get me every available resource we have. I want his movements tracked the second he reappears."

Hill nodded and started issuing orders.

But Fury's mind was racing.

This man had just absorbed the heat of the sun—and walked away without a scratch.

Was he a hero? A villain? Or something far worse?

One thing was certain—this wasn't someone Fury could afford to ignore.

"We need to find him," Fury muttered, staring at the image frozen on the screen.

"Before it's too late."

Back On Earth

Lance materialized in his penthouse, his battle suit dissolving back into a bracelet with a single thought.

"Not bad," he said, glancing at his reflection.

His muscles were practically humming with power.

Even after releasing part of the energy, he still felt stronger than ever.

"Next time," Lance smirked, "I'm going deeper."

He turned off the lights and lay back on the couch, his mind already planning the next test.
