Chapter 7 - Viewing
Chapter 7: Viewing
Yongcheng is Fang Jian’s hometown, so he’s quite familiar with it, having been born and raised there. Even though he has recently spent more time away from his hometown, he always returned during his university years and summer/winter vacations, making him well-acquainted with the city’s development.
The most expensive housing in this city was in the eastern part, but many elderly people prefer not to go there.
Fang Jian spent time talking with his parents and learned about nearby houses. His mother suggested buying a property close to their current location for the convenience of taking care of each other in the future.
The next morning, Fang Jian enjoyed spending time with his family. During lunchtime, he checked his parents’ recommendation for a nearby housing complex, which was just beginning to open for sale.
It had already attracted many buyers from the old neighborhoods nearby. Fang Jian nodded and took notes of the information. While agreeing with the idea of living nearby, Fang Jian’s father remained silent to avoid influencing his son’s choice.
The next day, Fang Jian visited the newly constructed neighborhood that his parents had recommended. The neighborhood was still under construction but had just started sales, which was considerate.
As he entered the sales office, he was greeted by several interested buyers. To his surprise, one of the women there recognized him. She was Aunt Chen, who lived in the same building as his family for years.
Fang Jian greeted her, and she expressed excitement about him returning to the country and inquired if he was looking to buy property and settle down nearby. Fang Jian smiled and said he was just looking around for now.
Aunt Chen, who was enthusiastic about the neighborhood, suggested that it was an excellent place to live, and if he decided to buy there, they would still be old neighbors.
Fang Jian smiled and nodded, which was also his mother’s wish.
The salesperson accompanying Aunt Chen smiled and asked, “Sir, do you have a preferred unit type?”
Fang Jian momentarily asked, “How many unit types are available here?”
“There are four unit types in total: 88 square meters with two bedrooms and one living room, 108 square meters with three bedrooms and two living rooms, 145 square meters with four bedrooms and two living rooms, and 178 square meters, the largest, with four bedrooms, two living rooms, and three bathrooms.”
Aunt Chen interjected, “Fang Jian, I think the 108 square meter unit is quite good and offers the best value for money.”
Fang Jian nodded slightly and asked, “The 178 square meter unit is the largest size?”
The salesperson was momentarily shocked, sizing up Fang Jian before saying, “There are a few 256-square-meter units, with six bedrooms, two living rooms, two walk-in closets, and four bathrooms. However, the price is a bit high.”
Having worked as a salesperson for many years, he had a knack for reading people. He knew the consumption level of the neighborhood where Aunt Chen lived. Although Aunt Chen mentioned that Fang Jian had just returned to the country, overseas returnees weren’t as highly valued nowadays. Moreover, Fang Jian was dressed quite casually, so he didn’t pay too much attention to him. But since Fang Jian asked, he didn’t mind elaborating more.
Fang Jian silently glanced at him and said, “Show me the floor plans.”
The salesperson’s eyelids lifted slightly, and his smile became more sincere. He bent down slightly and said, “Sure, please have a seat, sir. I’ll go get them right away.”
As Fang Jian watched the salesperson hastily leave, Aunt Chen opened her mouth and said, “Fang Jian, are you planning to buy the 256-square-meter unit?”
Fang Jian smiled and replied, “Just checking it out for now.”
