Ascension of the Monster Queen

The princess placed her hand on Nessa's shoulder and the girl glanced at her then she smiled, while staring at her and Nessa tilted, her head, then the knight scoffed as the demon kept a watch on the council members then he sighed.

"So, you really are here on vacation and we are sort of spoiling it for you, sorry about that," Mikala said and Nessa smiled at her.

"There is no need for you to apologize, if it's anyone, it's my friend," She replied and Mikala smiled. Enjoy new tales from empire

"Yeah, but, I am glad you came, I got to meet a nice person so I guess I should be a little grateful, also, I didn't know you were friends with someone that works within the council, that's nice," Mikala said and Nessa smiled a little.

'I didn't know as well, that idiot...' She thought.

"Yeah, it is, in a way, at least," She replied and Mikala sighed as she turned around to look at the council members.

"I know, not all of them are as nice as they may seem, right?" Mikala asked and Nessa's eyes narrowed as she looked at them then scoffed.

"That's right, not everyone or thing is as they seem," She responded and Zack nodded then the demon glanced at her and Nessa lowered her head as a few questions came to her head, ones that she didn't even know who to ask and she sighed.

"Nessa," The king called out and she looked at him then he called her and she went to him without the demon by her side and the council members looked at her then she smiled at them.

"Well, you know that the choosing will happen soon but for now can you assist them here, that's if you can of course?" The king asked.

'Oh? Well, this is a good chance,' She thought.

"Yeah, it will be my pleasure, your highness," She responded and the king smiled a little.

'This girl seems a bit cunning at times, but whatever, she is a good kid, but I want her to be more careful, for some reason, now I am starting to get a bad feeling about things but, I don't know exactly what it was,' The king thought and Nessa looked at him and her brows furrowed.

"Your Highness," She called out and he flinched then looked at her before sighing and she smiled at him.

"Is something wrong?" The woman among the council members asked and the king looked at her.

"No, I just have a lot of things to think about lately, a lot are catching up so I tend to focus on them a bit more and get lost," He responded and they laughed then he chuckled.

'He seems a little worried, is there something bothering him?' She wondered and the king sighed.

"Well, we look forward to getting to know you as well, Nessa," Quion said and she glanced at him.

"Likewise, sir," She replied and he scoffed.

"Just call me Quion, sir sounds a bit weird, coming from Kurson's friend," He said.

"Then, Quion it is," She replied and he nodded.

"Nessa, come over here for a few minutes, would ya?" The king asked and she nodded then went aside with him and just then she felt a few gazes on her and the king glanced at her.

"Some are looking, sorry about this," He said and a slightly nervous smile appeared on her face.

"It's fine and I am fine, don't worry about it, it's understandable, now, are you doing okay?" She asked and he glanced at her then exhaled deeply.

"Not quite, I have a bad feeling about something, I feel like something is going to happen very soon, you don't mind that I said you are Kurson's friends right and let them know you are just here to sort of spectate?" He asked and she sighed.

"Well, I don't mind, I am his friend, that was not a lie, I only know you told them that as well so that they won't know the real task that was given to me by you, if they did find that out, they would become cautious, am I right or wrong about that?" She asked and he scoffed.

"You are right about all of it, things are getting more uneasy with each day that comes by," He responded and she looked around then her eyes narrowed as she looked at Mikala along with Zack.

'I can't even tell him about some of the things that I know, I am not sure if they are going to do anything, there is a lot to gain from certain things but taking over?' She wondered and the king looked at her then flicked his fingers before her eyes and she glanced at him then he smiled at her.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked.

"A few things just came to my mind, also, you have every right to be worried but, you need to be careful as well, just in case anything, you are right to be concerned because these sorts of things can get out of control very fast if something goes wrong, there are times in which you have to be prepared for the worst, it's only natural when you have power, am I right?" She asked as he stared at her then a gentle smile appeared on his face.

"Yeah, you are right once again, bad things do happen unexpectedly at times, even when things are going smooth, in these types of things, it happened many times before with many people, it's indeed only natural, kid, you know, I have to say, you talk as though you yourself is a leader for something but, I guess that's just in your personality, you sort of give hope and push one to be brave, I guess," He responded then chuckled and she smiled at him.

"Well, if that's how people see it, then I don't mind, though I am not so sure of it, also, you are handling everything so far, pretty well, it's only expected of someone who has been doing these sorts of things for a long time and is experienced, but, for now, you have to be careful as well, think about the right one to choose, and always be on guard," She said.

"I was right, you are a good kid, I understand, I will be careful, also there is going to be a slight surprise soon for them," He replied and her brows furrowed then both of them looked at the candidates.
