Chapter 37: Problem
When Noelle was returning from another day spent with Asta, she looked a bit sad and thoughtful. Why? It was all because of the conversation between Asta and Noelle.
After Noelle had finished her magic control training, she and Asta began talking. At first, everything was as usual, but then Asta suddenly said:
— Noelle, tomorrow David and I are leaving the capital.
Hearing this, Noelle's eyes widened, and with a trembling voice, she said:
— W-why?
Asta quickly answered:
— Well, we're traveling around Clover right now, and we need to head towards the sea.
— I see, — Noelle said a bit sadly.
But the next thing Asta said distracted her:
— I'm asking because… don't you want to come with us? Just for a few months, and then I'll go get my Grimoire and take the Knight-Mage entrance exam. You're going for it too, right? Maybe being closer to the sea will help.
Hearing this, Noelle fell into thought. She wanted it, but she wasn't sure. Should she? Brother Nozel wouldn't let her, and together with Solid and Nebra, they would start bullying her, which would lead to nothing good.
Adopting a thoughtful expression, she said to Asta:
— I need to think about it. I'll give you my answer tomorrow.
— I see… well, alright, — Asta replied.
End of the flashback.
At that moment, Noelle entered the house. It was quiet inside, and she immediately headed toward her room. But suddenly, Solid appeared around the corner with his sadistic smile. Seeing him, Noelle froze and started trembling.
— Well, hello, useless Noelle, — he said, getting closer to her, making it hard for her to breathe. — I'm just curious… where have you been disappearing lately? You're never around, and it's harder for me to express my emotions and remind you of who you are.
He continued to approach her, and at that moment, Noelle started to back away.
— Brother Solid, I-I-I...
— Shut up, you bitch! I'm not your brother!
At these words, Noelle flinched, and her magic wand fell out of her pocket, which did not go unnoticed by Solid.
— Hmmm? What's this? — he said, picking up the wand.
Seeing this, Noelle's face turned pale with fear. Noticing this, Solid smirked again.
— Is this something important to you, Noelle? — he said, unaware that it was a magic wand.
Noelle didn't answer, but the fact that she was silent made Solid figure it out on his own. He straightened up and said:
— Do you remember that toy you loved so much?
At these words, Noelle looked at Solid with desperation in her eyes.
— You remember, right? Time to repeat its story, — he said, preparing to break the wand.
— Nooo, stop!
Noelle couldn't just watch this, and without even thinking about it, she shot water magic at Solid's body, sending him flying and crashing into the wall, knocking him out.
Seeing this, Noelle first ran over and grabbed the wand, then realized:
— What have I done?
