chapter 1
1 – 1. Returning to the past
The truth that applies to all living beings in this world. If your heart is pierced, you die.
Regardless of complicated reasons such as excessive bleeding and nabal, the fact that the warmth of living creatures gradually cools down does not change.
Unless it’s somehow reviving someone who is on the brink of death.
So I was alive.
The knife that pierced my heart is gone, and at some point I stopped feeling the pain.
“He must have… Helped me?”
He must have been the one who saved my dying body. He was the only voice heard around him. How many people could have saved me in the first place?
For now, I thought it would be a good idea to ask my benefactor to thank me and move my body. However…
“Here… Is my dorm?”
Now that I came to my senses, I realized that something was wrong.
It’s a dead body. I thought how I could have saved it before I died, but it wasn’t.
Why the hell is the collapsed academy’s dormitory still alive and I’m in that room?
Why didn’t I feel uncomfortable even though I was lying on the soft bed? If it were a battlefield, there wouldn’t be anything like this.
As I gulped and looked around, I realized that my eyes weren’t wrong.
Sug-
I raised my right index finger and put my hand on the poorly used textbook and rubbed it, and the fingerprints were covered in black.
Since I confirmed that the textbooks I hadn’t used were dusty, I started to wonder if the time had gone out of order.
And that doubt made me feel my left breast, which had been pierced, with the thought of not being able to do it.
“The wound…”
No.
Only bare skin can be felt where enough scars or scars should have been left, and the heart that had stopped slowly is beating hard.
I can still vividly feel the sensation of the blood dripping down and my skin cracking with a terrifying sound.
In case you didn’t know, I swallowed and touched the left breast, but don’t you think it’s a wound?
Although it is a world where magic exists, I don’t know if such magic exists, but I wonder if it’s fair to say that there isn’t even a single wound or even the slightest bit of pain.
I looked all over the room right away, and an undeniable fact stuck in my mind.
“Couldn’t it… Return to the past…?”
This is not that the wound healed after recovering from the threshold of death, but that time went back in the reverse direction.
For a while, the ticking of the clock’s hands broke the still silence of the room.
And the question uttered by the mysterious man kept lingering in my head.
【 Do you really think this ending is right? 】
***
Regressed. Even with the memory intact.
I know very well how heterogeneous this sentence is, and that if I told it to someone else, it would be a subject of ridicule, asking if it was a dream.
That’s why it’s more frustrating. Because it became a reality.
Gulp. Gulp.
“After…”
I felt like my blood was drying up, so I drank a bottle of water at once.
As the clean water circulates the blood through the dirty esophagus, it is only now that a small amount of weight is added to the scale of facing reality and accepting it.
A bed placed in one corner and a desk and chair for study placed about two arms’ distance from the bed.
The space called the toilet that exists right behind the closet and trash can placed across a narrow gap at the end of the bed facing the feet.
Lastly, the front door and the entrance right in front of the bathroom.
“Megrez House’s dormitory… For sure.”
My room in the familiar academy dormitory.
The 2nd year uniform provided by Levant Academy.
The food stamps scattered across the desk and the textbooks he had used during his sophomore year undoubtedly proved that he was now a sophomore at Levant Academy.
So, it was almost two years since I had lived under the name of Junon after falling to the continent of Kempreton from the Earth I originally lived in.
Dalgrak.
I tossed a water bottle into the trash can and walked over to the window to draw back the curtains.
“As expected here…”
When I pulled back the curtains and peeked out the window, the peaceful campus was still there.
Even after washing my eyes, I couldn’t find any corpses or fragments of demons, let alone blood scattered here and there.
The dented and scorched terrain created by the aftermath of the magic, and the buildings that were chipped and half-destroyed are all standing neatly.
In other words, this is proof that the monsters haven’t invaded Lebrand Academy yet, and it’s another case that proves that I’ve returned.
Then what about my body? Unlike the scene in the eyes, is the body the same as you thought?
Hwaruk-.
As I concentrated my mana, a small, ugly flame appeared on my palm.
The mana that was lost in the past circulates. It means that the circuit that was greatly distorted is now spinning briskly.
“…The body is back too.”
I don’t know what happened. However, it returned to the time when nothing had happened yet.
That’s the only clue and everything I can figure out right now, so I have to use it.
I don’t want to repeat that dog-like future.
The present time when no event has occurred. And he himself, who vaguely remembers the events before the return.
All the puzzle pieces are given, so if you’re just putting the frame on the puzzle board to be matched, it’s worth trying.
I sat down at my desk and organized a series of events like a chronicle in big words on a piece of promotional poster paper I was going to write on.
The time I organized like that is 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours.
It took me a total of 3 hours to organize what I had to do.
I wrote the conclusion at the bottom with the largest text.
[ Levant Academy must not collapse. ]
The Principality of Ardelion, which belongs to the southern part of the continent of Campreton.
And the Levant Academy, the core institution of the principality, is a strong pillar and a place where magic is taught, the power to deal with demons that threaten humans from the outside.
The conclusion was reached that if Les Brandt Academy, which had been staggering inside and out, was shaken, the principality would collapse and the same future would repeat itself.
In order for me to survive, the principality must survive, so this needs to be investigated separately.
And… There are other sentences below that, but I don’t want to think about it right now.
“I need to wash my hair to cool off.”
[ Avoid contact with people involved in Thembris party. ]
It was a condition written under the comprehensive conclusion drawn after a long time of contemplation.
***
I figured out it was a sophomore and the weather is pretty chilly, so I’m guessing it’s about winter. It wasn’t hard, but I couldn’t figure out more than that.
Even if I knew how the next day would unfold, I wanted to find out about other information, including today’s date, outside.
First of all, after washing my body and putting on my school uniform, I went to the restaurant and heard all sorts of noises.
I even confirmed that everyone was avoiding me, so I was able to get a rough idea of today’s date.
─Hey, that, that, that…
─Kya. Are you still in school? When will you be expelled?
─Why? Who else did you touch?
—Just yesterday, when I ran to catch someone, Sylvia stepped in and stopped me. My stomach felt cold.
─You’re saying that he’s a guy with no skills. Doesn’t he just have to fight?
─The horse is Cheongsan Reservoir. Don’t even make eye contact, just go. What kind of insult are you trying to get? He’s the kind of guy you’d run into and punch even with a broken arm.
─In reality, everyone was ambushed from behind or had sand thrown in their eyes to block their view. Because he is not confident in his own strength, he can only compete in cowardly and mean ways.
At this point, I guess it’s time for me to pay a lot of attention to myself.
The nickname given to him because he repeatedly causes accidents on campus…
—Anyway, that E class sucker. I guess I’m the kind of guy who has to have an accident every day to live. It would be good for you to just shush and let it go.
—Aha… He’s a very strong guy.
Oh. Okay. That was it.
It was the nickname that the guys who called me the idiot of class E and fell into a sense of superiority during the class division process referred to me.
There seems to have been other nicknames like the weakest vanguard.
‘It’s been a while since I’ve heard. It’s just like that.’
After living on Earth for 16 years, it is around this time here. Did you fly to Levant Academy? So I immediately remembered being confused.
First of all, this is a school. It’s not an ordinary school, it’s a school that teaches magic.
Classes are divided into classes at Levant Academy. Classes are divided according to some kind of measurement method and used as standards.
Is it because the education method required by students is different?
‘Actually, that’s all bullsh*t.’
I don’t know what the class division standards were, but I remember that it was at a very serious level.
I, too, heard such sarcastic remarks and received unfair treatment. Now I’m listening to it so much that I don’t get any inspiration.
I know for sure that those things will die later, but I don’t think there’s any need to heat up over trivial things.
Anyway, I was satisfied with knowing what month and day it was today at the restaurant.
My stomach was full from breakfast, and today is the morning lecture day, so I went to listen to a lecture after a long time.
***
“Ha ha.”
Professor Kyoff sighed in the classroom where the E class students gathered.
A professor who sighs and tells how long it’s been since the lecture started.
“You. Stand up and explain why we learn magic.”
A middle-aged female professor who can’t even remember the student’s name.
Her wrinkles covered her entire face, which made her look like her devilish grandmother.
But that professor’s nickname is the real witch.
“It’s to deal with the beasts…”
“Then, why use magic circles?”
“It helps people who are not good at handling magic to draw out magic effectively…”
At that moment, Professor Kyoff slams the desk, and the answering student closes her eyes tightly.
“You mean a guy who knows that can’t solve a problem like this? You guys are the same. What the hell are you learning at this school?”
The class D and E students secretly call her a witch.
The reason this school is divided is to discern and divide the potential and teach correctly, but for some reason, the students in Class D and E, excluding Classes A to C, are simply despised.
Professor Kyoff, who lowered the desk in front of her, is the same human being.
I am showing the current behavior because I have no intention of teaching properly.
Lebrand Academy was created to establish a school where anyone could enter and learn magic in the same way as the empire chose, and to nurture talent, but the inside was very different compared to the outside.
The meaning of class division has faded for a long time, and professors are spreading it as a social and cultural issue in unity with the aristocrats.
“Tsk, this is why you guys can’t be promoted to the top class. What can people who can’t solve a problem like this do?”
As you can see from Professor Kyoff’s sarcastic remark, Les Brandt Academy is divided into halves.
Those who can generate enough firepower to catch the beast and those who can’t.
The scale is taught by dividing it into divisions.
Somehow, I didn’t like Professor Kyoff who continued the lecture like this, so I said a word on my own.
“The Alpheid line and the Vetrine line are out of balance. The four straight lines of the Vetrine line must be reduced by two and the size of the central figure reduced by 2/3.”
“…!”
I was perplexed. I was puzzled.
‘This side knows the answer at all. He said he was confident in one of the written lectures.’
My classmates applaud my answer.
However, Professor Kyoff interrupted the applause by punching his lectern with his fist, telling him to be quiet.
“It looks like you’re proud that you finally solved this basic thing. You guys clap your hands as if it’s amazing. You guys are pathetic.”
Huh. I’m just pissed off. Where do you see that being basic?
Even those proud Class A students won’t be able to solve this right away.
How much more so to the students who are learning for the first time today, especially to the students who stand in the foreground rather than using magic.
‘Even looking at it, he was just trying to discourage me.’
Things I didn’t know properly in the past, but now, every little thing catches my eye.
I had an intuition that this school was really wrong even if it was really wrong.
Come to think of it, Professor Lee told me that he used to gossip about me in the past, right?
So I did it too.
“Then why don’t you come up with a difficult problem?”
“Huh…!”
I wanted to break the spirit of Professor Kyoff, who was attached to it for no reason.
If you want to pay it, send it to me.
