Chapter 18: Prodigy
"Oh,Good evening Miss Aveline." Avon said respectfully.
"Good evening Avon, so did you get into the academy?" She asked him.
"Yes, thanks to your guidance. I have been attending since the last 7 days."
"Oh great great. Give your best. "
"Ofcourse thank you." Avon thanked her.
"So what are you doing here?" Aveline asked Avon.
"Nothing much, I was just having a talk with my classmate who left just before you came."
"Hmm?wait a minute...is that classmate of yours Sylvia Stella?"
"Yes, that's her." Avon answered as he thought 'Sylvia seems to be very famous'.
"You got into the elite division?" Aveline asked Avon again.
"I don't know anything about divisions...I just joined the class they told me to " Avon answered again.
They were talking near the entrance of the cafe and realised that the way was being blocked so then Aveline said "come let's have a seat "
"Okay"
Then Aveline ordered some food for herself and Avon ordered the Elecola again.
"So Avon, based on the answers you give in test, you will be placed into one of four divisions: Elite, Good, average and poor."
Aveline was speaking when Avon said suddenly
"But isn't it the academy's duty to provide education? How can they expect people to know everything before they even join..."
Hearing this Aveline's face froze. She then asked.
"Avon, is the education system different on your planet?"
"Yes" and then Avon went on explaining about Earth's system and then just like that he and Aveline talked about various things about planet Steela and the differences between Earth and Steela for a long time.
Aveline told him that on this planet people don't join the academy since a very young age. Everyone studies about the basics at their homes and it was a normal practice. Things like ethics and etiquettes were expected to be taught at home.
After having a long conversation, they decided to return to their homes. Then Avon left and so did Aveline. It took another forty minutes for Avon to return to the ship.
After entering the craft, he sat down and just closed his eyes. Today he almost died....
'If Sylvia wouldn't have been there I would have definitely died. And if I died now, master and big sis Laia would never know...they would just wait for me and who knows , because of the incomplete medallion they might lose too....the planet would be doomed....even if they won it wouldn't be easy for them to find me..."
Feeling the weight on his shoulders Avon again stood up and he continued learning the movements given to him by the coach.
The next day when he went to the combat class, Thamo did nothing to him during the entire class. It seemed Sylvia did report his behaviour. Sylvia greeted Avon in the class and that surprised everyone present. It was obvious that these two had become friends.
Then Avon continued his movements and kept on progressing quickly thanks to his extra training he was doing in the craft.
When exiting the class, Avon heard Sylvia call out his name.
"Avon so...if you want to progress even faster in combat, then I have a suggestion for you. "
"Oh, please tell me"
"Follow me"
"Alright "
Then Sylvia and Avon walked out of the academy together, Avon felt many gazes on him, especially the jealous boys. What he didn't know was that from the shadows of a building behind Thamo was glaring at him. A physcotic look in his eyes.
After walking for ten minutes they entered a different area. Avon noticed everything here was much different. It seemed to be much brighter and the houses were bigger too.
"This place is the administrative area where the Administrative families live. " Sylvia told Avon who was observing the place.
"Oh..there seem to be only homes here though"
"Yes. Only the administrative Families live here after all. Now Avon was confused as though where she was talking him.
After walking for another 10 minutes they arrived before a grand house.
"What is this?" Avon asked
"My home" Sylvia answered.
"Why did you bring me to your home?"
"I will show, it will definitely help you progress in combat training."
Then Avon followed her into the house.
The interior was beautiful. Everything gave off a calm vibe. Avon followed her deeper into the house. Then a man came and then saw them both and asked
"Sylvia, who is this?"
"This is my classmate Avon, father. "
'her dad?' Avon thought in panic.
"Hello sir" he tried to greet her father.
"Hello " her father replied back.
"Father I want Avon to practice on the simulator"
"Sure"
Avon immediately thanked them saying "thank you" and then followed Sylvia again.
Then Sylvia took him to a room which was huge in size. In there were many capsules capable of fitting a human inside.
"In there you can simulate fights and train yourself in combat. You experience certain amount of pain too if you want to make it realistic. "
Avon was amazed as this would be perfect for him. Then Sylvia taught him how to use it. Before entering it he asked her, "Why are you helping me this much...I have no way to repay this favor along with you saving my life yesterday. "
"Do not worry. You do not need to repay any favor because you owe me none. Think of me as a friend, then you will realise this is the least I can do for you. "
Avon felt very happy as Sylvia called him a friend. It seemed that she even trusted him. Then he got into the simulator and completed the tutorial. At first no pain reception was set. He easily learned about the simulation and tried to incorporate the given movements into the fights. It wasn't easy but he could see it happening. After he was tired,he exit the simulator. Upon exiting he saw no one around. He forgot to keep the track of time inside.
'I must seem so rude! How can stay in for such a long time! Idiot!'
Then he exited the room and entered what seemed like the hall, there Sylvia was seated with her family. They saw Avon and then Sylvia said, "Did you finish already? "
Avon then answered "yes, I am sorry for staying in for so long, I lost track of time."
"No, no, you came out early. Do not worry about all of that, I already told you right. So did you finish 10 levels?"
'Oh yeah....she told me to finish 10 levels, I forgot and went till 25..'
"Yes..." Avon gave a weak answer thinking about how to tell her that he went overboard in a better way.
"Did something happen?" Hearing his weak answer she asked him.
"No.... actually I forgot about the 10 level limit that you said and in the flow I finished 25 levels..."
Sylvia's eyes widened and then the next moment she laughed "Haha, look at this prodigy dad and mom!. I told you he might surprise us."
Looking at this reaction Avon felt relieved.
Then the Stella family invited him for dinner which he tried to reduceibut wasn't allowed to leave without eating. Then a maid served tenm food. After a long time Avon ate homemade food, even though of unknown cuisine, felt a bit nostalgic.
