chapter 15
15 – The Grand Sorcerer’s Theory Class
I narrowed my eyes at the middle-aged woman who was looking at me, but Lovepeace pleaded beside me, so I sighed and ignored me, going somewhere else.
“I’m sorry… because of our mother… Let’s go inside for now…”
Lovepeace apologized to me, who seemed lifeless in an instant. And we slowly moved into the spacious mansion.
Community nickname: love peace. She was using the name Rienna in the novel she possessed.
“Her real name is probably not that, of course.”
The Myeolsogael is a community of Koreans. Therefore, the fantasy novel-style naming of Rienna is likely a pseudonym. First, gather information about Rienna.
“Um… are you okay?”
Rienna looked worried, and I glanced at her slowly.
At first glance, her well-maintained beautiful pink hair. The slender jawline and sharp nose that reminded me of a Westerner made it clear that she was probably a noble family member just by looking at her.
In short, she was beautiful. And very much so.
I thought that someone who goes by the nickname Love Peace and claims to protect peace would most likely be doing some kind of conceptual role-playing, but I never expected to encounter such a lovely girl.
As I was staring at her absentmindedly, Rienna asked again.
“Are you still not completely healed? I’ve already treated the visible wounds with healing magic… but it seems like I couldn’t get rid of the psychological aftereffects… I’m sorry if it’s because they haven’t been properly healed.”
Seeing her disappointed expression, I sighed.
“That’s not it. I was just lost in thought for a moment.”
Then, I naturally asked her a question out of curiosity.
“Seems like you don’t have a good relationship with your parents.”
“…Yeah… Could you tell just by looking at me?”
“There aren’t many people who breathe hostility towards guests brought by their children.”
“I’m sorry… My mother is a bit unusual…”
“I owe her my life, so it’s nothing. I’m just worried, that’s all.”
I had a brief exchange with Rienna. We asked each other about our names, the nature of our relationship with our parents, and so on. By the way, during this process, I revealed that I was an administrator. Based on our conversation so far, she didn’t seem threatening to me.
“Are you really the administrator?! The one using the nickname ㅇㅇ?”
“Yes.”
With a curious mind, Liena started asking all sorts of questions. She had fundamental curiosities like how she could enter someone else’s novel.
“Wow… So, with the Administrator Warp Skill, you can transport not just objects, but also people!”
She clapped her hands in excitement, wondering what was so exciting and fun about it.
Talking to a pure-hearted person was healing to the point where it reached the depths of my heart. However, because she was so innocent, there were times when she unintentionally said things that hurt.
“Administrator, you must be very weak, huh? I mean, you were hit by an ordinary person who can’t even use magic…?”
Pure curiosity. It was a statement that didn’t have a hint of malice, so I coughed and replied.
“There were circumstances.”
Actually, it was the other way around; I was the one who got beaten to death, but I didn’t need to reveal that. There would be no benefit for either of us to admit that I suspected her.
“I see… By the way, what kind of magic exists in other novels? Do they have the same magic system as us?”
As we continued our conversation, I realized that her curiosity was not just a lot, but too much. I finally understood now. The reason she helped me on the day we first met was probably because of her own curiosity. I explained vaguely about the magic system because if I explained it in detail, it would take all day and I’m not very good at using magic.
“That’s a shame… If the Administrator knew a lot about magic, we could have had more conversations… Hmph…”
I’ve noticed it several times, but her occasional pouting was incredibly cute. If an average person did that, using strange language and pouting would have been uncomfortable, but with Liena, her entire existence was adorable, so I accepted it all. It was a different story from rational favorability. I kept feeling that I just really liked her as a person.
“Why did you help me? Did you happen to know that I’m an Administrator?”
“No? I really didn’t know!”
“Are you naturally inclined to help people in danger?”
Liena thought for a moment when she heard my question.
“No… I’m not like that either… Um… I just feel like there’s a feeling that something has to be done? Actually, the path I took to meet the Administrator today wasn’t my usual route, but for some reason, I wanted to go today! After we met, I had this thought that I had to help quickly! I don’t really know why.”
Listening to her conversation, I obtained useful information. I don’t know if it’s because of the effect of the Administrator Warp function, but when I warp, there might be a force that pulls the target towards me, even if they are far away. Whether it’s a favor or an enemy.
Thanks to that, I gathered a lot of information.
At that moment.
Thump, thump.
I heard the faint sound of the window shaking. I quickly turned in that direction and received a signal from Choi Ye-bin, who I had forgotten about, asking if she was okay.
“Oh, I forgot.”
I apologized to Rienna and naturally switched to informal speech. It was because she was much younger than me.
“Sorry, but can my friend also come in here?”
“Friend?”
“Yeah. I brought one more person using the warp function. As you can see, my bodyguard is needed because of my current situation.”
After talking around it a bit, Rienna nodded in agreement.
“They can come in… but they have to come secretly… “
“Don’t worry about that.”
As soon as Rienna gave her permission, I gently opened the window. Then, like a flying squirrel, Choi Ye-bin leaped up and jumped through the window.
“Eek! W-what just happened…! Is this person also a magician?!”
Choi Ye-bin entered and sat in a corner, whether she said anything or not. She put her hand in her pocket, ready to throw a spell at any moment.
“Um… Are you a magician…?”
Rienna asked Choi Ye-bin, but she cut off the conversation shortly.
“I wish you wouldn’t talk to me.”
Looking at Choi Ye-bin, I suddenly remembered again. She had survived for over a year in the den of assassins, killing dozens… or maybe over a hundred people.
“Yeah. This is probably her normal appearance.”
Choi Ye-bin was friendly to me because I risked my life to save her. Not only did I owe her my life, but I also provided her with a place to live, so it would be strange if she wasn’t friendly. However, for Lovepiece, Rienna, she meant nothing. She was just a passing person, someone who could be killed at any time if she posed a threat.
“Seems like a quiet person! Alright, I understand! I won’t talk to you!”
Though it was frustrating, she replied boldly. Choi Yebin cautiously surveyed her surroundings from a corner. She was about to say that there was no need to do so, but decided to let it be. It was probably her survival habit.
Lienna immediately approached me and, looking straight into my eyes, spoke quietly.
“A girlfriend…? Right?”
“No. It’s not like that.”
“Hmm…?”
Lienna narrowed her eyes and playfully tapped my shoulder.
“Hmm… so you’re embarrassed, huh? I see! You acted so strangely on the bulletin board, but in reality, you even have a girlfriend? That’s unfair! You weren’t a solo player!”
“It’s really not like that. Besides, didn’t you mention that there’s an academy entrance ceremony coming up? I came all the way here because of that.”
“Oh, right! You said they would give you a grimoire. Did you bring it?”
“Of course. It’s definitely in my bag…”
Huh?
I’m sure I put it in there, but the grimoire was nowhere to be found.
Lienna, with sparkling eyes, was waiting for me to show her my hand. I hesitantly took my hand out of my bag and honestly confessed.
“I did bring it… but I think I lost it.”
“What?!”
She looked down at the ground with a visibly disappointed expression.
“…It’s a shame, but there’s nothing we can do…”
Seeing her slump down, even her hair losing its luster, I felt somehow sorry.
“But she’s the one who treated me and even healed me.”
I reached out my hand to Rienna, thinking to myself.
“Try using magic. I’ll guide you.”
“But you said earlier that I couldn’t use magic well.”
“There are circumstances now. And theory and practice are different. I’m good at theory.”
“Hmm… Is that so?! Then I’ll give magic a try!”
Without any doubts, Rienna performed the magic, and I slowly observed the shape and spell created by her magic. Even though magic usage was restricted for 24 hours, it didn’t mean my ability to perceive magic had disappeared.
I focused. She used basic water magic. Streams of water emerged from the air, slowly gathering to form a shape resembling a belt. The belt continued to circulate and connect. Looking at the connected shape, it reminded me of a single line.
“A Möbius strip.”
“Oh! That’s right! That’s what I was trying to make!”
Rienna looked at me with an astonished expression, and she asked me with an expectant tone.
“What do you think? Is the magic I’m using good?”
The intention to materialize the Möbius strip itself wasn’t bad. But above all, the lack of noticeable coherence stood out. The Möbius strip Rienna created was merely an inverted 8 shape.
I remained silent for a moment and honestly answered her.
“It’s terrible.”
“Is… is that so…”
In an instant, the magic was released, and cold water poured onto the ground. Rienna looked disappointed, her excitement extinguished.
I spoke to her.
“But don’t be disappointed. I’ll give you private tutoring from now on.”
“Really…? Thank you…”
Eyes that didn’t have much expectation. Of course, that was natural. She knew that I wasn’t good at using magic.
“The formula for magic must possess continuity in and of itself. Keeping that premise is the beginning of magic.”
As I held her hand, I began adjusting the trajectory of magic.
