Becoming Usopp

Ch-7

During these days along with the regular physical exercises, the thought of how he was going to deal with the Kuro pirates when they arrive used to regularly come to his mind. At first, he had thought to take the support of Luffy and the rest to deal with them like how it happened in the original but one day when he was bored he felt like testing out his aim.

Since the original Usopp was known for his marksmanship just like his father he wanted to know whether he had inherited that ability from him or not. Needless to say, the ability was with him. The targets that he had hit with the small slingshot that he found in his house were hit perfectly.

The only problem with this method was that only throwing the stones at them won’t cause enough deterrence to the people who would be attacking the island. While pondering over that problem Usopp continued his training for the next few days.

After sensing the clear improvements in his strength and body performance thanks to all the training he was putting into all this an idea entered his mind, which was to use his strength directly rather than using the limited strength from the slingshot.

Not caring about his appearance or how cool his move looked he grabbed a stone from the ground and threw it towards the trunk of the tree in the most unprofessional and unfashionable way possible.

Though Usopp had already guessed the result seeing it from his own eyes still amazed him. A deep dent had been formed on the tree trunk as the stone had embedded itself onto the tree trunk. His aim also didn’t miss by a single point even after the use of all his arm and shoulder strength in throwing that stone.

As he was looking at the horizon Usopp was thinking of the most efficient way to deal with the trouble that would come to this island the next morning. There were only two convenient entrances to the island if they didn’t want to climb over the rocks so like the original he planned to block them at the entrance only.

He decided to collect a bunch of rocks and spread them all near the entrance of the island where Luffy and the rest had docked as it was the same place where the Kuro pirates landed aswell. The next few hours were spent with Usopp labouring away stones and rocks from all around the island to that place.

He finally stopped when he felt that he didn’t have to worry about not having enough ammo with himself. Satisfied with his work he was walking back to his house when he saw Luffy and the rest standing outside his house.

On seeing Usopp’s approaching figure Luffy had a huge smile as he shouted while waving his hands “Heyyy Usoppp!!”

Seeing the enthusiastic greeting by Luffy, Usopp couldn’t help but chuckle to himself while waving back at him as he couldn’t help but love the cheerfulness of the guy.

“What brought you guys here?” Usopp said as he looked at the three of them curiously as he really had no clue about their reason.

Hearing his words Luffy smiled widely showing all of his teeth as he said “Join my crew,”

“Alright,” Usopp said without thinking over it even once as that’s what his intention was all along. Seeing his immediate response Luffy nodded to himself in a proud manner.

Seeing the interaction between the two, Nami couldn’t help but lower her jaw in annoyance.

“The hell with you asking him to join so suddenly! Learn how to build up a conversation before requesting something! Would you?!” Nami shouted at Luffy before pointing her fingers towards Usopp as she said “And you! Think more before making such big decisions! You can’t just so readily accept to become a pirate!”

“Why you’re lecturing us all this…it doesn’t make any difference since he already agreed to join,” Luffy said while scratching the back of his head while looking at the pissed Nami.

“I accepted his offer thinking full well of the consequences since my father is also a pirate,” Usopp replied to Nami’s earlier rebuke.

Seeing the two of them Nami couldn’t help but sigh in frustration. She turned towards Zoro to ask “Was it the same way when he asked you to join?”

“Not much different,” Zoro replied as Nami sighed further.

“Welcome to the crew then,” Nami said the feeling that was shared by all three of them and to which Usopp nodded.

“Thank you all. The crew of the Pirate King is it? Then I must aim to become the King of Sharpshooters,” Usopp said with a grin.

“Hehe~ Sounds good to me,” Luffy said with a laugh.

“I’ve been meaning to ask you earlier, where had you gone? You’re all covered in sweat.” Nami asked Usopp seeing the sweaty shirt he was wearing.

“Since we’re all a team I’m just going to tell you all everything. The village is going to be attacked by pirates tomorrow morning so I’m preparing countermeasures to battle it out with them.” Usopp said thinking that it's better to have some more help rather than doing it all alone.

“Attack?!” Nami exclaimed.

“Yep, from what I know they’re going to appear in the same place where you guys have docked your ships so I’m preparing to keep that at that place until I deal with all of them,” Usopp said.

“And how do you plan to deal with all of them alone? Since they are pirates then it's obvious that there would be many people coming.” Zoro asked.

“That?” Usopp smiled as it was his time to flex his ability. He initially was about to throw the stone the same way as he did earlier but thinking that there was a beauty like Nami watching him he decided to do something that looked a bit cool.

Usopp bent down to pick up two small stones, the size of a marble from the ground and said while pointing at the tree that was a couple of meters away from them “You see that tree over there?”

Hearing Usopp’s words the three of them looked towards the tree and then back at him, “Watch this” Usopp said as he placed a stone appropriately in his finger before flicking it towards the tree trunk.

With a swoosh, the stone travelled a distance of two meters in less than a millisecond as it embedded itself onto the tree trunk. While the three were still shocked by the damage done by just a flick of Usopp’s finger another stone rushed towards the exact same spot and hit the previous stone making it embed deeper into the trunk.

“I wouldn’t claim that I want to become the King of Sharpshooters without any ability,” Usopp said with a smirk which made Luffy laugh out loud while Zoro just smiled at him to show his admiration.

As for Nami, she was clearly impressed with what she had seen earlier but before she could put words into it her flow of thoughts was broken suddenly by another thought that entered her mind, “Wait a minute! My treasures! They are still there on the ship! I can’t let those pirates take it!”

With her treasures, the only thing on her mind Nami rushed towards the coast where they had docked their ship in a hurry.
