Begin Again In Marvel

Authors Note:

I know that the Ten Rings that are holding a Tony speak several different languages. But for simplicity, I will be writing it all in English as Rio can understand them anyway. That and I don't know all the different languages nor do I think using Google Translate for all of it would be a good idea. Now on to the chapter.

POV Rio

It had been a few weeks since I left the trial and it was time to go save Yinsen. As Tony would escape regardless. I was going to save them early in the morning to ensure Tony could still make his suit. I didn't need Tony to be indebted to me. All I wanted was for the innocent Yinsen to live. I got dressed in some robes that would conceal my face. I wasn't going to leave any evidence of my presence. Only 3 people would leave those caves alive.

Rio: "I will be back soon. Make sure that my presence is not missed, please."

Monika: "Don't worry no digital traces will be left behind."

I teleport to the outskirts of the base. Once I am there I start leisurely walking to the cave. Two lookouts see me and approach with their weapons aimed at me.

Lookout 1: "Halt... Eugh!"

I don't even have to lift a finger as both of them drop their weapons and start choking. I just keep walking past them as they slowly suffocate to death. As I am walking a few more people approach and end up just like the first 2. Finally, someone realizes something is wrong and tries to run away. They don't make it more than a step before they are on the ground like the others.

'Let's get rid of them first before I go get Stark.'

I walk through the base killing everyone I sense. After killing the 30th or so member one finally manages to shoot at me. They smile when they see me stop but I simply look at them and continue walking. For managing to shoot at me I instead let him die by using an overcharged Force Fear. He starts to rapidly shake and mumble.

Soldier: "M-m-m-m-monster-r-r."

It doesn't take long for his mind to fail and then his heart gives out due to his intense fear. He falls like a puppet with its strings cut. I just nod.

'It seems Fear can kill someone if it is strong enough.'

I continue my walk to the remaining area with Ten Rings members.

POV Raza

I was shaking at what I was seeing. The cameras were showing a man in robes just walking through the cave and wherever he walked everyone would start grasping their throats as if they were being strangled. I had already lost most of my men. I wasn't even certain if this thing was a man.

Raza: "Gather all the remaining men and you will stop this thing at intersection 8. If he manages to get past you I will blow up this entire cave system and take him with us."

They nod and get all the guns and grenades they can before heading out. I am left behind to watch as this thing just keeps walking slowly through the cave. It seemed as if it could sense where my men were as he walked towards them and even if one hid he would find you.

'I should take Stark as a hostage. If that thing is here for him I can negotiate my escape.'

POV Rio

I was listening to Raza's plans. It may have been a nonsensical and stupid plan but desperate people don't think straight.

'I mean how does he expect to hold him hostage if I can kill someone without even having eye contact? He also doesn't know how far my range is or how I am doing it. Even his plan to blow up these caves is nonsense as I have already disabled all the explosives they have planted. Whatever let's just get this over with.'

I walk towards the 'trap' they set for me and just Force Choke all of them at the same time. They don't even get a chance to fire a single shot before they are all dying on the floor. Any who resist have their weapons thrown away so they can't cause a mess. As I confirm the last one has died I move to where Tony and Yinsen are as Raza is heading there and I will intercept him before he arrives.

'Can't let him get blown up by the door bomb, now can I?'

I get to the prison chambers and wait as Raza approaches. He freezes and goes pale when he sees me. Before he can even lift his gun I knock him out. Then I use Drain Knowledge before making him Suffocate like the rest. Once that is dealt with I knock on the door.

Rio: "Housekeeping."

I hear some whispering as they are surprised to hear someone speak an accentless English. I just decided to disable the door bomb and open the door. As they are discussing they look at the door and see it open with me in the doorway.

Rio: "You are now free. I suggest you leave as soon as you can before reinforcements arrive."

Yinsen: "Who are you?"

Rio: "I am just a stranger who came to ensure you didn't die."

Stark: "What are you supposed to be a Jedi?"

Rio: "Yes."

Stark: "What!? I was joking. Jedi are from Star Wars. They don't exist."

Rio: "The universe is quite large. Just because something is a story doesn't mean it doesn't exist."

Yinsen: "What is a Jedi?"

Stark: "Space wizards from a movie series made in America."

Rio: "Well I will be leaving now that everyone has been dealt with. You don't need to keep stalling me to activate your armor."

Stark: "Well this armor would have ensured we would have escaped."

Rio: "Yes, it would ensure you would survive Stark. But not Yinsen. That was why I have come to interfere. Yinsen is innocent and doesn't deserve to die in this cave in the middle of nowhere."

Stark: "Impossible nothing can get past this armor."

Rio: "It wouldn't have been done in time. Yinsen being as brave as he is would buy you time and cause a distraction. He would get cornered and be mortally wounded."

I appear before them before they realize it.

Rio: "Let me show you what was yet to happen."

I tapped their foreheads and imparted them a vision of the future.

Stark: "What was that?"

Rio: "A vision. Of what was to occur should I have not interfered."

Tony: "That makes no sense. How can you show us the future? Was it some kind of implant or chemical hallucinogen?"

Rio: "As much as I would love to break your world view I have other things to do today so I will leave you with this last warning. Beware those around you. As you are surrounded by Vipers and Snakes. They have poisoned you but you can't see it. When you require me then call for me."

I vanish before their eyes as if I was never there.

POV Tony

Stark: "How did he, wait... Where did he go?"

Yinsen: "And how do I know how to contact him?"

I tried to think of a logical explanation of what just happened. But before I could really stop and think about it the lights went out as the armor was powered on fully.

Yinsen: "We should leave as soon as we can. I do not doubt that the Ten Rings will notice that this base has stopped reporting eventually. And when they do more men will come."

Stark: "First, I need to destroy the Stark Weapons they have. Then I will ditch the Armor and we can start heading west as that is what the direction I went in the vision."

Yinsen: "Yes, the vision."

Stark: "Hey, look at me. It didn't happen and we don't know if what we saw was real maybe it was some sort of psychological hallucination."

Yinsen: "You don't believe that. Nor do I. What we just saw was real. I have done the math and he is right the armor wouldn't have been operational in time. I know I would have done the same actions that I did in the vision. Now let's get out of here."

Stark: "Stay behind me just in case the stranger didn't get everyone."

We walk through the cave and what we find is unnerving.

Yinsen: "There are no bodies or signs of fighting. We heard some gunshots earlier but I see no evidence of blood or damage to the walls. It is as if everyone just vanished."

Stark: "Yeah."

I was getting more and more convinced that who we met wasn't a fake and that brought up some questions I wasn't certain how to answer. I decided to ignore the questions in favor of getting us out of there alive. Once we made it outside what I saw made me even more worried.

Yinsen: "They didn't leave. All the equipment is still here. Which means..."

Stark: "He killed everyone in this base without leaving any traces behind."

I didn't say that it made the vision and the claims of the mystery person much more likely to be true. Or that our helper leaving behind the equipment indicated that either they were useless to him or they were here so I could destroy them.

Stark: "Yinsen head West and once you are far enough away I will destroy all these weapons. After that is done I will make my way over to you."

He nods and starts walking which gives me time to start thinking about what has happened.

'I technically owe him nothing. I would have escaped either way. But.. Yinsen wouldn't have made it out. The vision ended when I was rescued by Rhodey. But I wonder why? Does he know more? Should I contact him?'

I force myself to stop going down that rabbit hole and focus on making the calculations for how far Yinsen needs to be to be safe. Once I make sure I was right I start blowing up everything they have collected. I use the Flight Mode and end up crashing in a Sand Dune not far from Yinsen. He comes running and pulls me out of the remains of the armor. Once we are done we start our long walk. After an hour or so we see Helicopters approaching and breathe a sigh of relief as more of the Vision has come true. As we get on the Helicopter I think about what I need to do from here.

'First I need to hold a press conference. Then I need to figure out what he meant by Vipers and Snakes.'

Iron Man is born. Also, I loved Sidious arriving on Mandalore so I used it as inspiration for this. If anyone is curious Rio took all the bodies and weapons from inside the base. Also, Rio gave them no mercy as the Ten Rings members gave none to others. Tony will learn Rio's identity later but for now, Rio is staying secret. Until next time Ciao.
