Setting: The village outskirts, late afternoon. The sun is beginning to set, casting long shadows across the land. Sakura is walking back from her brief meeting with Sasuke, her mind in turmoil.

---

Sakura's footsteps were heavy as she walked through the quiet streets, her thoughts tangled in a web of confusion and guilt. The conversation with Sasuke had left her reeling, and she could still feel the warmth of his touch on her skin. She wanted to push it all away, to pretend it hadn't happened, but the truth was slowly unraveling inside her, and there was no way to stop it.

Her mind kept returning to Naruto's words—the hurt in his voice when he confronted her. I love you, Sakura. I always have. How could she face him now? How could she look him in the eye knowing the truth of her own heart?

Sakura knew that Naruto deserved better than this. He deserved someone who could love him without hesitation, without the weight of another man's presence hanging over them. But every time she thought of Naruto, she felt the ache of his absence in her life. He was the one who had always been there, the one who had supported her through everything. And yet, the pull she felt toward Sasuke was undeniable, as if a part of her had always been tethered to him.

She reached the familiar training grounds, her place of solace, but even the comfort of the old surroundings couldn't ease the storm raging inside her. She leaned against the wooden post, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. The wind tugged at her hair, but it was the quiet inside her own mind that unsettled her the most.

As if summoned by her thoughts, a voice broke through the silence.

"Sakura."

She looked up, startled, and found herself face-to-face with Naruto. His expression was unreadable, but there was a tension in his posture that told her everything she needed to know. He had been searching for her, and now that he had found her, there was no turning back.

"Hey, Naruto," Sakura said, her voice soft, almost too soft. She didn't know what to say, how to explain the whirlwind of emotions that had taken over her.

Naruto's eyes narrowed slightly as he took a step closer. "I've been looking for you," he said, his tone quieter than usual. "We need to talk."

Sakura swallowed, feeling the lump in her throat grow. She had known this moment would come, but now that it was here, she felt completely unprepared. She had hoped she could buy herself more time, but she knew that wasn't possible. Not anymore.

"I know," she whispered, unable to look him in the eye. "I've been avoiding you."

Naruto's gaze softened, but there was a flicker of pain in his eyes. "Sakura, you don't have to keep hiding from me. You've always been able to tell me what's on your mind. But now... now I can't help but feel like you're keeping something from me. Something important."

Sakura's heart ached. He was right. She had always been able to confide in him, but now she felt like a stranger to herself. The truth was right there, but the words refused to come. She opened her mouth, but nothing came out.

"I'm not asking for much, Sakura," Naruto continued, his voice tinged with frustration. "I just need to know what's going on. I need to know what's really in your heart."

Her eyes filled with tears, but she quickly wiped them away, refusing to let him see her weakness. "I... I don't know what to say," she admitted, her voice breaking. "I've been confused. Torn between you and Sasuke. And it's been killing me."

Naruto's eyes widened, and for a moment, he seemed at a loss for words. His usual bravado was gone, replaced by a vulnerability that made Sakura's chest tighten.

"Sasuke?" he repeated softly, his voice almost a whisper. "Is that what this is about?"

Sakura nodded, her heart heavy. "I never wanted this to happen, Naruto. I never wanted to hurt you. But... I can't ignore what I feel anymore. It's like a part of me has always been drawn to him. Even when he was gone. And now that he's back, I don't know how to handle it."

The words hung in the air between them, thick with the weight of their meaning. Naruto stood there, frozen, as if trying to process everything she had just said. The silence between them stretched on, and Sakura could feel her heart breaking with each passing second.

Finally, Naruto spoke, his voice hoarse. "I don't understand, Sakura. How could you... how could you choose him over me? After everything we've been through?"

Sakura felt the sting of his words, but they were the truth. She couldn't deny it any longer. "I don't know how it happened," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I never wanted to hurt you, Naruto. But I can't pretend anymore."

Naruto took a deep breath, his jaw clenched tightly. He was trying to keep his composure, but Sakura could see the pain in his eyes, the hurt that he was struggling to keep hidden.

"I need time," Naruto said finally, his voice quiet but firm. "I can't just pretend everything is okay. I need to figure out where we go from here."

Sakura nodded, her throat tight. She understood. She had been holding on to him, but now she had to let go. She couldn't keep stringing him along when her heart was divided.

"I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice breaking.

Naruto didn't respond. Instead, he turned and walked away, his back stiff with the weight of his emotions. Sakura stood there, her chest tight, her mind a whirlwind of confusion and regret. She had known that this moment would come, but now that it had, she wasn't sure she could bear the consequences.

The silence that followed was deafening, and for the first time in a long while, Sakura felt completely alone.
