Beyond The Worlds: I'll Chase After You

Chapter 17: chapter 17: Companions? Question Mark?

The school bell rang with a welcoming melody, the first period of Haruki's school life have always been the most boring time of all his school days, as the subject of mathematics had gotten even more useless to him as a former university student who now have a supercomputer that can run calculations far beyond this era's most advanced technology inside his head.

To pass the time, Haruki slept on his desk, while [Great Sage] took control of [Kyoka Suigetsu] to alter the senses of everyone in the classroom and make it seem like Haruki is wide awake and is paying attention to the lesson.

Thankfully, Haruki was elected as the class representative. This gave him a less boring activity in school, and he had always wanted to try being one, as he had never been appointed to a similar role before.

Haruki woke up to the sound of bells ringing like an alarm clock. Lunchtime came, leaving Haruki bewildered for a moment before quickly coming to realization that he slept through the entire class hours and woken up at noon.

He rushed towards the cafeteria, only to be disappointed. He missed his time to snag the food that he was looking to buy, and since his family is mostly of European culture, they never bothered packing a bento for lunch.

Thus, Haruki was forced to buy the classic bread and juice box combo for lunch "ugh...". It would take a while before afternoon classes starts, and so, as a boy that have zero friends and common interests among his age. He did what any normal friendless person would do, "[Great Sage]" Haruki called out, gaining his supercomputer's attention "play the whole Hamilton musical playlist"

// Affirmative. // [Great Sage]'s voice is the same as ever.

🎶How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot—🎶

Haruki enjoyed the nostalgia, before he coming up with a daring Idea. One that might irk someone. "I've never skipped class before, so why not start now?" Haruki said as he found a good spot on the roof and laid down with his hands behind his head, and enjoying the warm breeze of air and ignoring the commotion created between the heroes and the villains at the distance.

Nikko was at home, being home schooled. The local school couldn't handle the boy 10 his prideful personality, looking down on the more strict teachers and classmates who makes fun of the weak. Not to mention his appearance like that of a late teen bodybuilder was prone to solitude in the school.

Calmly joting down notes on his notebook, Nikko heard a knock on his bedroom door. His hand did didn't stop from writing down notes on his notebook, "Enter" He ordered with authoritative tone. Elly came in with a pitcher full of orange flavored cold beverage, with empty glass on a tray, coupled with multiple sandwiches. "I figured you could use some snacks." She stepped closer to set the tray on Nikko's desk.

Nikko only nodded slightly, he couldn't find any kind of way say his appreciation directly as his pride won't allow it. Elly leaned onwards to Nikko, overlooking his work to see his progress so far. "Y'know, Haruki has been going out a lot lately. Do you have any clue as to why?" She asked curiously. "Forgive me Aunty Elly, even I do not have an ounce of a clue as to why. He has been more... distant lately." Nikko replied. "Haaah, just what is that brat up to? He's been saying that he is going out to see his "friends" but! Though sad is it may be— He doesn't have one that I KNOW OF!!" She raged, before pinching the bridge of her nose. "Just what is happening in the brat's head?".

Nikko sat in silence, seemingly trying to remember any hints that might help him understand his brother. "Is it puberty?" Elly muttered, unsure of what young boys are interested in these days, aside from your typical Hero admiration. She wondered if Haruki had any unusual hobbies, beyond the typical interests of kids his age.

Nikko suddenly stopped writing, and a face of revelation took his face. "I do recall seeing something resembling that of magazines hidden under his bed." Elly froze upon hearing Nikko's statement. "Could it be!?" Even without uttering a word, the loud question hung over the air. After all what else could it be other than her nephew's secret stash?

She grabbed Nikko's wrist in a fury and dragged him with her towards Haruki's room, Nikko could have easily stood still and not move like a mountain but he complied to his Aunt's action and let himself be dragged by her, and silently complained about being unable to finish his studies early today.

Haruki got his room raided by Elly kicking the door open, making a loud bang. She immediately rushed over under Haruki's bed, spotting a slight reflection of white light, making her pinpoint the location of the said stash. Feeling the smooth and glossy texture of the "magazines" and it's string that keeps it from leaving the stack, she grabbed it firmly and pulled it out from its hiding spot, revealing it to the well lit room of Haruki.

After pulling out the supposed "indecent" magazines, Elly and Nikko froze in surprised. "Eh?" Nikko exclaimes "Eehhhhh?" Followed Elly. Nikko had expected that his aunt will find magazines of almost naked women under his twin's room, and was ready to accept that his brother have "that" kind of stash under his bed, as he had read it somewhere that it's normal for boys to be interested in that kind of hobby.

"It was just a manga... " They both thought the same, judging by the unwrinkled/undamaged cover and the smooth texture of it, it was probably newly bought. Curious, they untied the string and open one of the manga, wanting to know the content inside.

Flipping the cover open revealing the familiar drawings inside. Elly flipped over a couple more pages, feeling a bit of deja vú. Until Nikko recognized one of the drawing inside. "For a second Aunty." His voice made Elly stop flipping over the pages and backtracked to the page where Nikko spotted something. Nikko pointed out a certain character with his finger, "This one." The character in question is wearing a dress of armor holding on to what seems to be an invisible blade.

"I remember my brother showing me a drawing of this girl at one point. To think he would make an official looking manga." Nikko stated, Elly could only be surprised by the sudden revelation. "What?!" Elly quickly closed the manga to fully analyze the cover. The title was called Fate/Zero and it was written by Wakeru. It was an official manga and spotting the name of the one who wrote it made Elly sighed in relief, if Haruki were the one to write this then they'll will have a serious talk about this subject.

"Why does he even need to hide these under his bed? If it was what I thought it was then I'd understand but it's just a normal manga book." Elly asked. However her question was unanswered. Nikko meanwhile is in deep thoughts, unlike Elly, he spotted the published date of the manga which was today's year, a few years after Haruki showed a drawing of that character. Nikko could only conclude that his brother published this manga under a different name.

Nikko wasn't about to rat out his brother, no way. He respects him, and to think of ever snitching Haruki out just way too low and even he wants to, his pride will never allow it.

"Oh, look at the time!" Elly looked at her watch and saw that she is going to be late for something that Nikko doesn't know about. "I gotta go Nikko, I have some personal appointment I need to tend to." Nikko didn't notice it before, but Elly had already been wearing clothes and makeup that girls would usually wear if they are going somewhere with a partner, Like a lovers meeting or girls meetups... "Wait..." Nikko wasn't able to call out his aunt as she had already left the house.

(Haruki PoV)

I am currently in the persona of Aizen, entering a normal local club, Normal as in normal on the surface. I had already become a regular in the club, and had already put all of the people associated with this club under my hypnosis. What fascinates me here is the fact that this club was run by villains and is one of the branches that is responsible for circulating illegal transactions and hiring Hits, was still unnoticed by the authorities. The club was essentially for villains to earn money, and gamble in a fight to the death arenas.

Some of the villains have formed groups with specific goals they are trying to achieve. I also formed a group, or more specifically, a group of ostracized orphans with unusual and villainous quirks. Since there were at least a dozen of them, they had no other way to feed everyone in their group even if they were to scavenge all the garbage bins and dumpsters in the city. The three oldest children in their group decided to engage in villainous activities to make money. They primarily focused on information gathering, as it was the safest and easiest job they could do, taking advantage of their small stature. However, they are sometimes hired to clean up murder scenes, which could traumatize any other children.

The first time I got in contact with them, they were very cautious, always studying my every move and words to see if I have any ulterior motives. They were a pain to convince to trust me, especially the oldest one named, Jin. Who is very protective and foolishly brave, he can inject poisons to a target and makes them either paralyzed, knocked out, or die. It all depends on his mood on which kind of poison he can inject.

The second oldest is named, Shin. He's quite naive sometimes, but he would think thoroughly on every choices that involves his friends which he consider as family. He has the ability to create barriers which once inside you'll never be able to get out. The last one is named, Yu. He's quite hyperactive and "heroic"? He's like any other dumb character that act first before ever thinking. He can transform anyone into something the target wanted to be, though it is only limited to one person and would wear off after a day.

Right now they are about 10-11 years old and they are finally not looking like they haven't eaten for days. I also bought them proper clothings, three for each brothers and sisters they have back in their temporary shelter.

Jin, wore a white shirt under his red jacket, his brown hair flowed towards every possible directions. His yellow eyes showed a burning sign of carefulness and ferocity. Kind of like a bear readying itself to defend its careless cub. His black baggy leggings were quite thick, and of course his shoes was shaded in red. I questioned one time why he chose most of his clothes the color red, I thought that it was just because it was his favorite color, but no. His favorite color is actually purple, and the reason why he chose red was because it helps hide the color of blood. Yikes, thank God I managed to persuade them to stop being a cleaner.

Next is Shin, who is sitting to the left of Jin. He wore a simple checkered polo shirt, unbottoned to reveal a plain white t-shirt under. He was quite simple with his choice of clothing, opting to go with a more comfortable and functional clothing.

The last one is... Oh boy, Yu. The most energetic child you could ever think of, He sat to the right of Jin, fiddling on some Rubik's cube. His taste in clothing is somewhat questionable, he wore a simple yellow t-shirt with a picture of a NFT monkey at the center smoking a cigarette, acting all cool and all.

We sat in one of the corner tables at an underground bar, below the club. A restricted area for normal people, and a business area for villains and mercenaries.

"Our next mission is to find out about these heroes weaknesses." I said as I slid pass the information of the mission to the boys. Jin took the paper and carefully read about the details pertaining the mission.

"Oh! Let me look!" Yu forcibly snatched the papers and flipped through them like a flipbook. "Yu, give it back!" Jin tried to take the papers back using his words, but alas, it didn't work. Jin resorted to punching Yu on the forehead, and taking the mission details back into his hands.

Yu whimpers sadly, like a puppy who had it's toy taken away. "Shin, Jin is being violent again." In a low tone, Yu asked Shin for help. But unfortunately was ignored, left to his devices, Yu looked towards me, I simply gave a knowing smile. Taking it as his loss, Yu quietly picked up his Rubik's cube again and tried to solve it again. Keyword "Tried".

"So they want us to look for the possible weaknesses of these 5 heroes?" Shin asked. "That's right, the first hero on the list is called Anima, her quirk allows her to mimic an animal's physical attributes, gaining a boost of speed, agility, and strength depending on the animal she mimics. Kinda like a watered down Beast Boy." I chuckled a bit at my own joke, "Watered down Beast Boy?" The three seemed confused, have they never heard of the name Beast Boy before?

"Ahem, nevermind. Anyway, the second hero on the list is Blossom. Her quirk allows her to release a wave of pollen that can cause drowsiness, and reduce aggression." I stopped for a bit, letting them take in the information slowly and answer any questions they might have.

Yu put his left hand up, with an eager look on his face. I acknowledged his presence and gave a nod, signalling him to ask away "Aizen sir, do you happen to know who commissioned this?". I answered "Of course, The clients are just a bunch of small thugs preparing for a heist. The heroes mentioned on this list are the available heroes that they are going to face against when they finally do the robbery. Though I know how much you idolized heroes but you shouldn't worry about them too much" I ended my sentence in a reassuring smile.

"I- I wasn't worried about them!" He simply crossed his arms and game me a classic tsundere pose. "Anyway, let's continue." Hearing my words, all three of them returned their attentions towards me, I continued mentioning all the relevant informations of the target's on the list.

Hello! Yes yes I know, the updates on this FF isn't stable. I was busy with school work, and I just finished a project that needed 8 people to make solo. That and there's another event coming to my school, which luckily will start next two weeks (thank God, I've already emptied my allowance this week). Another reason is that I've been procrastinating, yep that's right.

Anyway I recently opened a Ko-fi page so if you wanna support me, (though you don't have to) I would greatly appreciate it 👍.

Here's the link
