Billionaire in Kingsman with a Marvel System

Chapter 222: Chapter 222: Returning to the Castle

William was eager to return to the castle this time, with plans to transport the treasure he had found in New York back home. The thought of such a vast fortune made his heart race with excitement. Although his total assets already exceeded $10 billion, the impact of having tangible wealth like gold and jewels right in front of him was unparalleled.

The only downside was that William hadn't yet decided where to hide the treasure. Storing it in his basement wasn't secure enough; the value was too great. He worried that the Americans wouldn't easily give up such a fortune. If they suddenly authorized a search of the castle, he could be caught red-handed.

Upon arriving at Oxford Castle, William saw his mother, Lena, walking outside. She initially looked pleased to see him but then huffed and walked away. Internally cursing William for being an inconsiderate son, Lena was hurt that he had been away for months. Since his rise to wealth, he rarely spent time with her, and despite her best efforts to hide it, she felt neglected. After all, William was her only child.

However, since learning that William could inherit a title, Lena had found new joy in life, happily managing the castle, tending to flowers, and caring for horses. William spent the next half day making amends, being overly attentive during lunch, setting the table, pouring wine, and serving food until Lena finally smiled.

After lunch, Lena didn't let William rest but instead dragged him to see an Arabian horse she had recently bought. Seeing his mother so happy, William didn't want to dampen her spirits and walked with her toward the stables. Along the way, Lena enthusiastically described how beautiful and agile the purebred Arabian was.

As they walked, they emerged from a grove to see the newly renovated stables. William was pleasantly surprised. Seeing his expression, Lena laughed. "You were away for so long that I had to find a hobby. And with all the money you've given me, I didn't know how to spend it. So, I bought a horse and expanded the stables several times over. Now, there are twelve stalls in the front, enough for over twenty horses. The other three sides are reserved. If the horses breed well, we can expand. I also built a racetrack behind the stables.

You know what makes me happiest? The 300-acre farm next to us cost less than £800,000."

"£800,000? That's so cheap. Doesn't that mean the land prices around here have dropped by more than half?" William asked in surprise.

"Exactly, son. Many of the farm owners around here are nearly bankrupt. If you pay in cash, they'll be eager to sell and move elsewhere. You once mentioned wanting to buy all the surrounding land. I think now is a great opportunity."

William had always wanted to buy the surrounding land. Thinking it over, he realized that prices were already very low. Though they might drop further, the current opportunity to buy in bulk was rare. "Alright, Mom. I'll notify the Swiss bank to handle it. We'll try to buy all the surrounding land."

Lena was thrilled. "Are you serious? Just around the castle, there are 3,000 acres. If you include the area near the small river, that's several thousand more acres. Won't it be too much? This is farmland, not a ranch. We'd need to hire a lot of people, and Oxford might not approve the transaction."

Considering the local land, William realized it was indeed vast. "Okay, maybe several thousand acres is too much. We'll buy as much as we can. But I definitely want the 3,000 acres around the castle. I want our surroundings to become our private land, for safety and privacy."

Lena was delighted. "Just the 3,000 acres around the castle? That's no problem. If you want, we can sign the contract tomorrow. The owner lost a lot in the stock market and urgently needs money. We might get it for £500,000."

"That cheap? I remember Antony telling me it was worth £1 million or £800,000."

"Of course. But who else around here would buy land besides you? Those who want it can't afford it, and those who can afford it don't want to live in rural Oxford. Last month, he tried to raise the price. Now, he's desperate. We'll offer £500,000. If he doesn't like it, he can look elsewhere. He's the one who needs us now."

Calculating in his head, William realized that buying 3,000 acres for £500,000 meant paying less than £170 per acre. That was incredibly cheap. Land prices could easily multiply in ten years. Without hesitation, William agreed. "Mom, I'll call Antony. The Swiss bank and his law firm can handle the purchase. Now, show me your new pet."

Lena smiled proudly. "If we buy these 3,000 acres, we'll honor our Devonshire ancestors. This land used to belong to our family before your great-grandfather lost it. I'm proud of you, William. You're the best."

She affectionately patted William's head. "My, you've grown so tall. I didn't expect you to grow up so quickly. I miss when you were little. Come on, let's go see the Arabian horse."

William watched his mother walk ahead, bewildered. What did he do now? Shaking his head, he followed her into the stables. The new stables were far superior to the old ones. Soon, they reached a magnificent black Arabian horse. At first sight, William was stunned by its beauty.
