Chapter 77: Divine Quest

Once Alexander accepted the inheritance he was given a path out and gifted the sword known as Lightbringer, he would check the details of his new class later but he wanted to open his unique rewards now.

~~~~~~~~~~
Server Announcement-
The first inheritance has been claimed, rewards are being distributed.
~~~~~~~~~~

Since he had already recieved such a significant reward from the inheritance he assumed he would not get much in terms of the servers reward from the achievement and he was partially correct.

He was given a chest containing a set of reward options the way a normal unique chest would offer.

Speaking of those chests it was time to turn them in.

As soon as he opened the first chest he saw a notification that was... odd.

~~~~~~~~~~
A divine gaze watches you.
Luminous is amused by your attempt to take the rest of her blessed items.
The goddess of light would like to bargain with you.
Will you accept?
~~~~~~~~~~

'A bargain? The gods never really did anything with players and the only known person to meet a god was the seer of the life goddess.'

"I accept."

A wave of light blinded him and he felt his body distort before he could finally see again.

In his view was a simple room with a table set with tea.

A beautiful woman with golden hair and eyes sat there drinking a steaming cup before she placed her gaze on him.

He felt his body burning as of he were inches from the sun the moment that gaze landed upon his body and although his celestial form seemed to react with joy he felt apprehensive.

"You are one of my children, please sit and do not be afraid."

She smiled and for the first time he understood why the church of light was so obsessed with her.

She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and her smile was enough to overwhelm his fears with awe.

He sat down and bowed his head but the moment he did so he felt his body react as if he had just done something horrible.

"Oh? Since when have my children ever felt the need to... oh I see, you are one of the otherworlders."

She laughed and the sound was like a beautiful bird song.

"You are not aware of how my children act when they are given a chance to meet me, that is not your fault young one... my children are aware that my love extends to all of them even should they fall from grace."

He took a sip of the tea and felt his body practically melt with the comfort it brought him.

"You attempted to use the system's rewards to claim the armor that goes with Lightbringer, I am not opposed to such a thing but you will not have it without a cost."

He sat up straight and nodded, he was keeping his mouth shut so he would not mess this up.

"You will go to neutral zone and find the city of Raylock, I assume you have heard about the church of light from my children from this world?"

He nodded, he technically hadn't but it was easier than explaining the truth.

"Normally I have a rule where my children are not to acknowledge any attempts of interaction from the church but you are technically an outsider and not one of those who took such a vow... the church is attacking an innocent city and since I cannot have my seer tell the otherworlders about my wish for them to help.... you can."

"The church has used my name for centuries now and I am disgusted by all the murder they have commited in my name..."

She began to stand up and walk around, the glow of her body getting brighter with each second.

"They disrespect me, they use my influence, they tarnish my reputation, they act as worshipers for a god that does not want them!"

She swung her hand and a bean of light was traced out which began to burn the room into particles revealing the space beyond.

"They MURDER THE CHOSEN OF NECROS!!!"

She was burning like a star now and with each word a flare would destroy more of the space beyond the room.

"They kill the race I GIFTED TO MY DEAR FRIENDS. THEY ATTACK PEOPLE FOR HAVING MAGIC, THEY SLAUGHTER DEMONS AND DEVILS AT RANDOM ANY CHANCE THEY GET!!!"

She suddenly released her fury and the only thing left unharmed was Alexander as he watched the room get burned into nothingness.

"GATHER THE OTHERWORLD CELESTIALS AND WIPE THAT CHURCH FROM THE WORLD, USE MY BLESSING AND DESTROY THEM ALL OTHERWORLDER!"

The physical form of Luminous was gone and all that remained was a female made of golden light.

"You are my paladin! This is my divine decree! Slaughter them all, burn their pope to ash, execute him for all to see and destroy every church to cleanse the ground they desecrate with their false prophet magic!"

~~~~~~~~~~
You have been given a Divine Decree.
Due to your class [Divine Paladin (Luminous)] you are unable to refuse.
Failure to complete this quest will result inthe unique gear gifted by Luminous to be reclaimed as well as the inheritance.
~~~~~~~~~~

He could not even respond, he had gotten to witness a display of divine power.

He had watched as an entire field of stars were erased just from the rage of this goddess and for the first time he understood why so many celestial players had declared war on the church of light.

The church hadn't simply disrespected the goddess but they had enraged her, they had slaughtered her creations and made her seem as a petty being that only cared about the money her church collected.

He was not aware of every single crime the church was guilty of but he knew that because they presented themselves as the true church of "Lady Luminous" they had inherently made everything they did a reflection of her will....

To those who did not know better that is.

Even if he wanted to refuse he was unable to so when she left and allowed the system to return him to the game world he made sure to claim his rewards quickly.

He would have to get to Raylock... he had already planned to but now his timeline was moved up.

~

In the dungeon Ezekiel was tearing through the skeletons.

He had managed to bring his signature spell to lv10 but he quickly realized it did not offer any upgrade option.

'Do I have to improve it myself?...'

That had to be the case, he tried to use the mana his needles could contain now but it wasn't so simple as adding more mana.

As the spell increased in level he noticed that it seemed to match his proficiency as well.

As the spell increased in level the projectile speed and casting speed seemed to increase.

This came in the form of his spell having a slight reduction in the mana needed to cast it.

With his proficiency going up he realized he could dedicate more of his focus to making each needle better, sharper and with more mana.

Without the need to focus as much on the creation of the spell he could modify it, he decided that he would try adding more to the effect.

He was able to make the mana denser and sharper while adding a small elemental effect to it with the shadowfire element.

Since he made the spell different enough and could cast it in a single thought the system seemed to recognize it as a spell.

~~~~~~~~~~
Frenzy Wing lv10 (L) -> Corrosive Frenzy Wing lv1 (L+)
~~~~~~~~~~

'Legendary....plus?'

He had successfully upgraded his spell but it was a small upgrade due to his inexperience, he did think that it would go to the next rank of spells though.

'Whatever, I'm almost at the next rank of void conversion so I have to keep farming.'

~~~~~~~~~~
Belial Void Mage lv154- Lesser Tri-Elemental Archdevil.
~~~~~~~~~~

Eighteen levels.

He had successfully gained eighteen levels in his time farming the dungeon.

When he had met the group in a rare chance of both leaving at the same time he had explained his plan to gain more experience and suggested they do the same.

In all this time he had hardly gotten to Void Conversion lv7, it was a skill that was very hard to train.

During his fights against the undead Ezekiel had gotten bored of just blasting through them like tissue paper so he had begun using his Frenzy Wing spell more creatively.

He was inspired by a monster from an old game to make the name of the spell so he tried to use the the monster's attacks as well.

He would make the needles into the shape of claws at the joints of his wings and effectively slash like a beast, he also used his own hands covered in mana shaped into claws to tear through his enemy.

It felt... natural.

He loved the feeling of tearing through his enemies like a beast as if the nature of his new bloodline was encouraging this behavior.

He liked being a beast.

Writer here, time to ask my beloved readers their opinions.

Should Ezekiel continue on the path of pure magic or should he have the option of becoming a magus?
