chapter 54
54. Priest Atsuku
Rinel leads the way, moving ahead.
—
The surroundings changed drastically from the entrance, filled with the armor of numerous knights, seemingly leading toward the deepest part.
As everyone moved while running, they all harbored a single thought within their hearts. That the Guild was fighting Yaiba, that fact was what urged them all onward.
Then, an elderly priest appeared.
“What business do you have at this hour, in this place?”
He held a Bible close to his chest, surveying everyone.
And the moment he laid eyes on Rainel,
“Ah—so that’s it.”
The atmosphere shifted dramatically.
From a calm and peaceful demeanor, it transformed into one of irritation as he glared at everyone.
Then Rainel stepped forward, one step ahead of the rest.
“Well! That’s how it is! So leave it to me and move on!”
Rainel made a gesture as if to brush off Aztuk.
“Do you think I’ll let you pass?”
The temperature around them began to rise.
Crack! Crackle!
“Can you do it, old man?”
Seeing this, Kelt protected himself and Gora with a barrier as they passed by.
“I’ll leave it to you, Rainel.”
“Yeah, I’ve got it.”
As the two moved ahead and became invisible,
Aztuk spoke.
“You seem to have grasped something, haven’t you?”
In a voice that resonated like thunder, Aztuk said.
“What are you talking about? I told you before, old man, have you lost your mind?”
His condescending attitude further raised the temperature around them.
And Aztuk, the source of the heat, was turning red.
“Ah, I see… then I’ll force it out of you!”
In an instant, lightning struck.
“Old man, are you really losing it?”
It seemed that Rainer’s strike had landed, but
“Shut up, brat…!”
His clothes were scorched by the heat, revealing the silver armor worn beneath.
Unlike ordinary armor, it had aspects reminiscent of magical tools, yet it was also engraved with church-like patterns, as if used in a festival.
“Huh? Old man, what’s with that ritualistic gear?”
Rainer spoke with evident annoyance.
“I anticipated facing you, which is precisely why I prepared to counter that lightning.”
Despite his anger, he kept his gaze fixed on Rainer.
“Tch! How tiresome!”
Rainer threw several needles from the pocket of his clothing.
“Is that a sneak attack? Do you think it will work on me?”
However, they lost their shape due to the intense heat and scattered.
“Yeah, I know that, old man.”
Bam! Crack!
Rainer took a significant step back.
“What’s this? Are you playing it safe?”
Crack! Crackle!
“〈Electric Palm〉”
Accelerated by the lightning, he returned to his physical form and delivered a palm strike to Atuk’s abdomen.
“Guh!”
Caught off guard, blood spilled from his mouth due to the blow.
“Oh? You managed to endure it? You’re tougher than I thought, old man.”
Rainer waved one hand lazily.
On that hand, he wore a magical glove.
“Ugh, you too have magical tools…”
“Oh? You can tell, huh? That’s correct!”
Rainer laughed wickedly.
