Chapter 1054: The Magician Tower Production Facilities

-----

"Master Ashhand, are you sure it's okay to invite them to the upper floors? I know they're very talented and you've grown fond of them so quickly, but even then…" Tomas seemed slightly doubtful over his master's rash decisions.

"Hmm, you might be right that it is quite rash," nodded Ashhand. "However, I can guarantee you that Elizabeth and her friends might become Wizards in just a year, their talent is immense. The more I show them, the more accustomed they will become to the entire tower and its inner workings." The old magician's eyes became slightly sharper for a moment.

"I-I see…" Tomas looked at us with some concern and… pity?

"Tomas, I have taken you as my pupil because you were indeed a promising young magician, but it seems you're doubting your master's decisions now?" Ashhand wondered. "Where has all that discipline gone to?"

"I-I apologize, I understand… It won't happen again, master," Tomas nodded.

"Very well! Now, now, let's go," smiled Ashhand. "Let me show you the grandeur of this tower!"

Jumping over the floating platform, we moved across the tower.

Ashhand showed us all matter of scenarios, from areas where Potential Cubes were synthetized, to other places where Enhancement Scrolls were made.

It seemed Magicians were the principal producer of these enhancement items, and I had absolutely no idea of that!

Although the System also provides them through rewards and things, I suppose the majority of people still have to buy them out of stores.

By combining Alchemy with Magic and using these pocket spaces, they can both farm the necessary ingredients and materials and produce it.

Magicians were incredibly self-sufficient, and that was amazing.

However, seeing how there was the possibility of corruption, it actually felt more terrifying than anything…

After that, Ashhand also introduced us to other wizards, they were rather distant, however, and didn't introduce themselves, but Ashhand had to do it.

Eventually…

"And this is where Floor 90 begins," he explained. "You see that there's a ceiling above, right? Well, it is something that will limit the magicians from entering. Not a thing for wizards such as myself, however."

Tap, tap!

With two gentle taps from his staff into the ceiling, a huge magic formation activated. Magic circles and runes glowed and rotated around, slowly opening a huge, bright, magical gate.

FLASH!

"As you can see, only those of my Rank can access… Now, come with me, let us go higher. There are several other facilities up there…" Ashhand smiled. "First, the Soul Extraction and Refinement Forges, where we use the souls of monsters we hunt or buy from other sources and refine them into various materials."

He led us towards one of those other doors, a green door. After entering, we found ourselves floating above a dark, lugubrious and eerie-looking landscape.

It resembled a giant black cave, and right below, a giant hole bubbling with gold and green liquid was constantly swirling.

There were dozens of wizards down there, using magic to make everything move. Some mixed the ingredients while others controlled the souls.

There was a huge pipe that constantly poured souls down there, they groaned, making all sorts of animal sounds.

And I could swear I heard words too in between them, but we decided to remain in silence and not address it.

"As you can see, souls are poured down here and refined over a long period of time. Wizards usually have shifts, and we exchange shifts over time," he said. "These are some of the products we produce."

He quickly went to another section of the area, where there were piles of crystals of several colors, some were darker, and others lighter in coloration.

"These are Soul Crystals, it has two varieties, Purified ones, and the Cursed or Unpurified ones. Both have their uses in alchemy and magic," he explained. "They're essential for the creation of Chimeras and also Magic Formations."

"Woow… So amazing!" I said.

"It is indeed impressive, the manipulation and refinement of souls!" Hendrick said.

"It's a bit creepy, but I like that…" Maria nodded.

"I hope they don't use human souls, hahaha!" Erika laughed.

"Hoho, naturally, of course not!" said the wizard. "We only use monster souls we previously purchase or extract ourselves. Using human souls is… strictly forbidden by the law."

"I see, I'm glad the wizards are good people!" I smiled.

"Of course…" Ashhand said. "Now, let's go to this place…"

The next area was a giant laboratory.

It looked exactly the same as the abandoned laboratories we've found and destroyed before.

They were butchering corpses of monsters and unifying them together through their chimera-creation magic.

"As you can see, this is where we create Chimeras, the Laboratory of Chimerism," he explained. "Life Magic is very important when it comes to their creation, so we appreciate someone like Elizabeth joining our guild now, I am sure you could become a promising Chimera Creator in the future!"

"Ooh, I am a bit grossed out…" I groaned. "But I could try… eventually?"

"Hahah, of course, I won't force you. Not everyone can stomach handling corpses and whatnot, but the pay is definitely worth it," Ashhand said. "You'll be helping our organization not only create Chimeras to serve us, but also to defend us against other forces, to serve as powerful soldiers, for example."

"Interesting…" Hendrick nodded. "I suppose the wizard organization still has their fair amount of enemies, hm?"

"Of course we have… Many, in fact," the wizard nodded.

"Hah…" I noticed Tomas sighing, looking really sad and nervous.

What's wrong with him?

"Now, now, let us go, there's much to explore yet!"

Ashhand quickly led us to a different zone, from the Soul and Chimera Facilities, we moved to the Grimoire and Skill Book Creation ones.

Both were amazingly large, resembling both workshops and libraries. The wizards imbued empty and blank pages with powerful magic, runes, and several other magic ingredients.

The creation of Grimoires and Skill Books seemed incredibly complex, something that even as we watched, I simply couldn't properly grasp.

"As you can see, we produce Grimoires and the Skill Books here, we only produce a couple of them that go by our brand, and we often only sell them to fellow members of the guild," the old wizard explained. "You are all lucky to have received yours already, my promising pupils."
