Broken Tower Saga: The First Swordsman

Chapter 56: The First Lesson (3)

"I don't know actually, I guess there's no harm in checking it out." Wrik shrugged, saying that.

And at that moment he recalled he hadn't had a brainstorm about which path to choose, should he stick with the Swords, or choose something else. 'I have to check all these later.' he took a mental note of that thought.

"Well, you can try.. .. But I have to tell you, a designer is the hardest and rarest path in the Tower, it's no joke when I said Omeganet preserves every Designer," Sophia affirmed.

Wrik nodded. Now there's one more reason to check out this Designer business. If a stuff is not hard enough to achieve, how could there be any meaningful satisfaction behind it? Besides the privileges from Omeganet were not bad either—it might be the best option for someone like Wrik, who did not have a strong background.

"Yes?" Sophia asked, noticing Michelle raising her arm.

"Do all designers get those privileges and honour or is it just a special case?" Michelle asked. "And exactly how difficult is it to be a designer?"

Wrik did not think anyone else would be interested in this business, but apparently, he was wrong. Michelle appeared to have some interest in it as well.

Sophia pondered for a moment. "Well, an actual Designer gets similar or more privileges than the highest level Inquisitors, and I should say it is Omeganet treats its people best," she said. "And as for difficulty, I don't know the exact fact, but it's pretty hard to be a proper designer, and it costs too many credits as well. And like most other professions, it also depends on proficiency and level of hard work. Ooh, by a proper designer I meant the one—who could create or alter omega codes."

Then a glitter of brilliance formed in the oceanic blue eyes of Sophia; she looked carefully at the redhead lass—who asked her the question. Sophia said, eyeing at the necklace—Michelle was wearing. "The necklace you're wearing should be the work of a designer. Quite a decent one at that. There should not be many designers with that level of proficiency in their job."

Everyone's attention was at Michelle; to be exact, it was at the golden necklace she was wearing. It did not look that expensive, yet it stood out in the crowd. It was only a thin chain with a small trinket with a scarlet jewel attached to it.

It was the same necklace Michelle was holding when she cast that horrifying spell at the ghoul in the underground dungeon. At that time, Wrik did not have a clear view of it, but now nothing was restricting his eyes. Even without inspecting with [Eye of Insights], he could tell the necklace about the necklace was unnatural.

"This?" Michelle clasped the trinket of the necklace with her palm. "It's a family heirloom."

"Your family is quite well off to have a necklace made of almaner," Sophia said.

Michelle nodded with an embarrassed smile.

"Almaner?" Wrik frowned. "Is it some kind of metal?"

"Yes, and one of the rarest metal of all. It is the best metal to make magical artifacts," Tanya answered in place of her sister. She gestured at the bracelet—the only ornament she had ever worn. "This had some amount of almaner in it as well."

Her last phrase seemed to only appease Wrik's curiosity as she had seen him gazing at the bracelet multiple times.

"Well, we spent a lot of time on this," the blonde lady said. She pondered for a moment before continuing. "Let's talk a little more about the eight basic attributes as it is one of the most important things to learn before advancing to the actual training.

"The eight compounds: strength, agility, constitution, vitality, perception, intelligence, magic power or Maha Mana and last Luck. I don't have to tell you what these each term represent, do I?" Sophia continued, seeing everyone's approval. "I'll say a little about how the attributes work, grow, and how each one affects the other. Remember, even though the attribute Vitality or Intelligence may not look that impressive compared to the others, but it still has its function. For example, high vitality can make you immune to poison, or it can say how long you will live."

"Does vitality affects our lifespan?" Anton opened his mouth in curiosity.

Most of them are like curious kids, sitting in front of their grandmother and listening to her tales. Will the princess ever meet the wizard again? Will the prime get his kingdom back? Wrik recalled the stories Aunt Anna used to tell them when they were kids. He, Anton, and Lucas had the same amount of curiosity about them as well. Well, Anton had the most.

"Of course it does," Michelle said mockingly at Anton. "You know nothing apart from messing around, do you?"

"I know a lot of things, Flame-girl." Anton clicked his tongue at Michelle.

Michelle ground her teeth hearing that. "I said don't call me that," she said.

Flame-girl was the name Anton picked after he and Davin got burned by her flames yesterday. And apparently, Michelle did not like her new nickname.

"Whatever, Flame-girl." Anton did not give any further attention to the redhead any further. It was one of the bad manners—Anton had picked up from Wrik—who would disregard anyone's presence if it became a bother to him. Anton gazed at Sophia, asking, "So, high value in vitality can make us live longer?"

Sophia only smiled in response. She did not deny, nor affirm it.

Sophia continued on the topic she was discussing. "So each of the eight attributes is important. You may choose the ones needed for your specific class, but you needed all eight attributes to reach a standard mark. Like for a mage high Intelligence, Maha mana and perception is more important compared to all the physical stat together, but they still needed to train to balance with the other stats."

"What about Luck?" Anton voiced out again, disrupting Sophia's explanation. "What does it do?"

"Luck is something you can't control, you couldn't see or feel it at your current level but it's omnipresent in the Axilia." Sophia said.

"I'm not going to die accidentally if I have low luck, would I?" Anton asked again, his face showing genuine concern.
