Broken Tower Saga: The First Swordsman

Chapter 71: Class Advancement

WRIK SAT CROSSLEGGED ON the bed of his VIP suite. He breathed evenly for a couple of minutes, making himself as comfortable as possible. Today was the day he was preparing himself for the class advancement.

"Are you sure about this?" Anton asked, standing next to the bed.

Wrik did not answer, opening the small crystal bead. "What would I be worried about?" he asked.

"Well, you will feel some pain in your head, nothing else," Anton said. "I was asking if you're sure about advancing to an Omega Designer?"

"That," Wrik became silent for a second. "Do you think I can't succeed?"

"No, that was not what I'm worried about," Anton said, shaking his head. "You can succeed in anything if you put your minds into it. I'm just worried if the path was right for you. You know you can't undo it if it succeeds."

Wrik got what Anton was trying to say, and he was worried about it as well, but he was too good at hiding it. Like any normal person, Wrik has fears as well. He had anxiety issues. But he never showed it outside, not even to Anton. It was probably because he wanted to prostrate a strong front, an image others could rely upon.

The Class—Omega Designer might not suit him, but it's the thing he needed, besides it's not like he did not like this sort of profession.

"No need to worry, I bought this after deliberating many times," Wrik said. He looked at the crystal bead reflecting the limelight a little. "I'm starting now. Look after me during the process. How long will this take again?"

"It took me a few minutes, but I know it's the same for everyone else or not."

"Well, there should be no problem," Wrik nodded.

With a deep inhale, he put pressure on the bead in an attempt to crush it. The way to use this class-advancement bead was to crush it, then absorb it through mahasaying. Most of the time, there was no problem with it, even if you failed to advance.

The bead did not break immediately. Wrik had to input almost all of his strength before cracks started to appear on the smooth surface of the bead. In the next moment, the hard bead liquefied, but it appeared gravity doesn't work well with the liquid as not even a single droplet dropped below.

The Liquid was overwhelmingly cold to Wrik, it almost froze his skin. Even before he started to absorb it, the liquid started to escape into his body. He did not delay anymore, started absorbing the liquid with mahasaying.

[Class advancement is in process.]

[Advising the user to be calm during the process.]

Wrik did not read the notifications, his entire concentration was absorbing the liquid.

Within a blink of an eye, the cold liquid reached his brain and caused a brain-freeze. Unknown knowledge began to imprint in his brain, as Wrik felt an impaling pain. Well. This kind of pain was not anything new to him, he had experienced this kind of pain on multiple occasions because of the [Eye of Insights], but that did not make it less painful. All the experience only helped Wrik in keeping clarity of mind during the process.

Wrik opened his eyes to notice Anton was standing close to him. He shook his head a few times as the fuzzy feeling started to clear out.

"It's over," he said. "Though, I have no idea what I gained."

"That's natural," Anton said. "I still haven't digested all the knowledge yet."

Wrik nodded. "I need a rest now. My head feels a bit heavy. I will not go to the tracks today."

"As you wish," Anton said. After conversing for a bit more, he left.

Wrik laid in the bed properly as he closed his eyes. He tried to rest for a few moments, but his excited heart did not let him. He was fretting over if he should check out what he got or not. After only a moment of deliberation, he dived into the knowledge he gained through the class advancement.

Aside from the useful information on the mana application, he got the basic knowledge of Axi scripts and Omega codes. While Omega codes were the foundation to be a designer, the other two Ancient Axi scripts and Maha mana application played a crucial role in it as well. Besides, there was other usage as well.

Wrik dived into the knowledge related to Ancient Aix scripts. He always wanted to learn this language. Even when he was in Elania, he had searched for it, but he found no sign of it. Finally, he got what he yearned for years, it's only time to learn it.

The Knowledge he got about Axi Scripts was a simplified one; nobody in this day of age knows the original ancient script. The simplified Axi scripts or now known as Simplified Elneo, have 72 characters in them—almost triple the number of the general tongue.

Even the simplified version of the scripts held so much difficulty, Wrik could guess why it was so hard to be a designer. And he still not entered into the knowledge about Omega codes yet.

Wrik prepared himself, it would be quite a challenge to learn all these. For some reason, he became way excited, not because of the chance of failure, but by the sheer amount of knowledge, he had absorbed.

A jolt of insight hit his head as Wrik's mind started to organise the 72 simplified characters. Remembering them was not that difficult for Wrik, as he had heard some takes weeks just to remember, moreover he found some inner link between the general language and the ancient script.

So, it was not false, the general terminology is related to the ancient Axi. After finding the link between the two, he dived more into it. Time seemed to pause in his consciousness as the tangled knowledge untangled in his brain.

This was not the first time Wrik was feeling this. Even before coming to the tower, he had the opportunity to experience this type of learning. What he can tell, this type of feeling was like he was standing in the very space, a void of knowledge and nothingness.

The quote, "A moment's enlightenment is worth a life's experience," seemed so true to him.

Wrik woke up from the trance as a sudden hunger consumed him. He did not know how long he was like this. As far as the hunger he was feeling, it could be a week or as far as a fortnight.

"Finally you wake up," a voice said beside him. It was Anton. "I was worried, you know."

With a bit of effort, Wrik picked his upper body and looked at Anton. "How long have I been away?" he asked. He could not tell how much actual time had passed, as did not even know how long he spent on the void of knowledge.

"It has been a day and a half. I even thought of calling Lady Sophia seeing you like this, but remembered this is not that unusual for you," Anton answered, examining his body. "You should be hungry, so I ordered some food."

Anton gestured at the table where a few packets of food were kept.
