Broken Tower Saga: The First Swordsman

Chapter 75: Interlude-II

Tanya came back to the couch with a pout on her lips after Wrik went back. She did not say anything, only looked a little resentfully towards her elder sister.

"I didn't know you to be so interested in someone else?" Sophia said as Tanya took a seat close to her.

"It's all because you hide things from me," Tanya retorted.

"So, you are not interested in that boy?" Sophia asked with a smile on her lips.

Tanya went silent hearing that.

"I take your silence as a yes, then?"

"First you have to tell me what you said to him," Tanya said, laying her head in her elder sister's lap. "And why do you have to embarrass me like that?"

"I told him to be cautious when he arrived at the tower," Sophia answered in one sentence. "You have to be too."

"Is it that simple? I guess there's more to it you are not telling me," Tanya said.

"You will learn it soon enough," Sophia sighed. "I'll take you to Knightshade after I finish my job, then I'll tell you everything I can."

"Really?" Tanya raised her head from Sophia's lap and looked at her sister straight in the eye.

Sophia nodded. "Now tell me about the boy. Do you like him?"

"Can I not say it?" Tanya held her tongue out.

"You can, but then I'll have to ask Mister Evernight about it personally." Sophia chuckled. She said in a pondering tone, "Should I make a visit to his suite before leaving?"

"Sis, you're playing it dirty," Tanya complained.

"I'm being serious Tanya," Sophia said. "There's something unusual about him. The boy is not normal."

''I know that," Tanya muttered. "But I am .. . we're not normal either."

Sophia sighed, she could not refute that. What Tanya said was quite right, their family was never normal.

"Just tell me, will you?"

Tanya contemplated about it for a brief moment and decided to open some of her secrets to her sister. "The first time I met him, I became quite curious about him," Tanya started to share her experience in a softer voice. "You know, after I awakened the [Mist Of Change], I had some problems controlling it. I was accidentally drawn to others people's emotions whenever I tried to use my ability. The first time I saw him, something like that happened as well."

"Does he know about this?"

"I don't think so," Tanya shook her head and continued. "It was only a short moment, I was not even sure at first what I was drawn into. It was a place strangling in darkness. I felt heavy anxiety and fear the moment I was drawn into it and subconsciously disabled the [Mist of Change] the very moment. I was almost consumed by that darkness, yet on the outside, that fellow looked like any other normal person. That was when I picked up an interest in him. He hid the darkness so well that others couldn't find it even if they try. I think Wrik doesn't understand it as well."

Sophia furrowed her brows but did not disrupt Tanya.

"I tried the [Mist of Change] to smoothen some of his worries, on our next meeting, but it failed. It felt like an enormous wall restricting me from pulling his emotions. Then that interest became an unsolvable puzzle. I don't know if it's my failure that made me drawn to him or I just like him."

Tanya sighed, saying that.

"Wait. Did not you once say, you helped him in relieving his pain in the trial?" Sophia asked, remembering.

"Yes, but that time I only masked the physical pain. I even tried to pull his emotion that time but it did not work," Tanya said. "Moreover, I think I can only mask his pain away because he trusted me."

"Anything that relates to maha mana is not simple," Sophia commented. "After all these years, there are still many things that can surprise me."

She sighed after that.

"Tanya, train well when I am away, don't let your emotions consume you. You can give up if you want if you don't like in the tower. I'll still be there for, I just don't want you to be. . ." Sophia paused. "I already dealt with the issue about omega points, if you need something, just buy it."

.. .

On the top floor of the Omega Store, Ryat was sitting quietly on a vintage rocking chair. Not many use those things nowadays, and not many can find those nowadays as well after the technological revolution. The bald shopkeeper seemed to ponder over something, fidgeting with a weird-looking key in his hand.

After a moment of deliberating, he sat straight in the chair as it stopped in its motion. The weird key disappeared from his palm while another weird looking item appeared in its place. It was a crystal cube, pale blue in colour, small enough to rest in on the palm of the short bald man.

Ryat infused some strands of mana into it as the pale blue light glitter inside it.

"Baldie, is that you?" a faint voice of a male came from the cube as it vibrated in Ryat's palm.

Ryat did not seem to care about the nickname, opened his lips. "Who else is going to be then? Is the matter in your end taken care of?"

"Nah, you know Gala, It's quite a mess here. I don't see much of a chance for success." A raspy voice came from the cube.

Ryat went silent for a moment. "Just do your work as you have done for years, Balat. I should not have to tell you that," he said. "I called you cause I need your help to find some information about someone."

A grunt came from the cube. "Of course you need something, why am I even surprised."

"Balat, it's quite urgent."

"Just tell me. I'll see what I can," Balat said from the other end of the call.

"I need you to find information about two people." Ryat paused for a bit. ''Wait. Make it three. And make sure not to tell anyone else about them until I tell you.`"

"Whatever, just get it over with," Balat said in annoyance.

"Alright the first two are Wrik Evernight and Anton Blaciel, they used to live in Elena, Safe Haven. I'll give you some more info about them later. Be cautious, Balat, don't leave any sign that could lead to us."

"When will I ever be an idiot?"

"I'm telling you this seriously, these two seemed to have some connection with that blonde woman from Knightshade."

"Alright," Balat said, still carefree as before. "And the other one?"

"It's someone named Aasan, but I don't know the surname. I think you will have some headache finding his past." Ryat continued. "Give up as soon as you find anything unusual."

"Roger that."

"Oh, I'll return in a couple of months to the Gala, it would be best if you could find it before that."

"I'll see," Balat's voice came echoing through the cube. "May Maha be with you."

Ryat sighed hearing that. "Goodbye then."

And the blue light stopped glittering from the cube with that.

Ryat sighed. 'There're more players than I had assumed, let's see whose move is sharper.'

This is the end of part two. Part three will start with a bang, a game I have prepared with all my effort. It would be quite long for sure (probably 80k plus words). I'm so excited to write it, it would be twice or more better than anything you have read in this book. Stay tuned.

Also, Please check out my other book Choas Reborn, you will definately like it. It's about a guy who failed to save the world and got a second chance. Kek! Sounds quite typical story right, but its not. You will understand just reading the synopsis.
