BTTH: Death Letter From The Future

Chapter 24: Spare a Life, or Not to Spare a Life?

As the Ninth Prince was writing down the agreement, Chen Guan approached Yao Ye.

He had rushed to the palace just in time to witness the infuriating scene. Any loyal person to the Jia Ma Empire would have been outraged, not to mention Chen Guan, who was close to Yao Ye.

Squeezing to the front of the crowd, Chen Guan caught Yao Ye's attention, and he responded with a gesture.

Even though they hadn't seen each other for over a year, their tacit understanding remained unchanged. Yao Ye quickly understood his intention, leading to the current situation.

It must be said that Yao Ye had a lot of trust in Chen Guan.

"Remember to spare a life," Yao Ye quietly instructed.

This was no place for a reunion; they had to take care of business first.

The Jia Ma Empire was facing both internal and external troubles, but the solution was simple: they just needed someone capable of taking the lead.

When Chen Guan returned, those problems were no longer significant issues. Before Jia Xingtian's end, Chen Guan should have grown enough to shoulder the responsibility.

Yao Ye was confident, and so was Chen Guan.

As a result, they were less burdened by concerns.

Chen Guan nodded in agreement.

Soon, the square was cleared, leaving only Chen Guan and the Ninth Prince standing far apart. At this moment, 90% of the eyes were on Chen Guan, curious to see where Yao Ye's confidence came from. Yet, very few could truly understand.

"Kid, you're just unlucky. Under these circumstances, I'm invincible in your eyes. Remember to choose a better birth in your next life."

The Ninth Prince's Dou Qi armour covered his entire body, fully displaying the aura of a six-star Dou Master. Those with sharp senses could tell his energy was solid.

Setting aside other factors, he indeed had some talent.

Even a lion uses its full strength to hunt a rabbit. Although the Ninth Prince looked down on the young man, he did not hold back. He made the first move, aiming for Chen Guan's throat, intending to end it with a single strike.

But as fast as he moved, he flew back even quicker.

The sudden change in the situation on the battlefield shocked everyone.

He had risen and defeated his opponent with one move—what more was there to say?

Sensing the aura Chen Guan released, Mittel Tengshan, seated in the VIP area, couldn't hold back and stood up, his face filled with shock.

Beside him, representatives from the Mu family, the Nalan family, and even Yun Yun couldn't hide their astonishment either. Yun Yun's companion, Yun Leng, flashed a trace of killing intent.

Chen Guan, at just twelve or thirteen years old and no more than fourteen, had already reached the level of a Dou Master. Compared to him, the so-called geniuses they once admired now seemed like clowns.

The royal family had hidden their talent very well!

Many people looked at the Jia Ma Emperor with newfound respect. He might have seemed weak, but his scheming mind was not to be underestimated.

What they didn't know was that the emperor was just as surprised as they were.

It turned out that Yao Ye's decision was indeed correct.

On the battlefield, Chen Guan no longer concealed his aura. He approached the Ninth Prince with a cold expression.

"Who dares to claim invincibility? Are you worthy?"

"You're a Dou Master, too?!"

Disregarding Chen Guan's taunt, the Ninth Prince struggled to his feet, shouting in disbelief.

In an instant, he realised that Yao Ye's confidence came from Chen Guan. He had been the fool all along!

Without time to curse, he took a deep breath and solemnly swallowed two pills.

One was a Wind Pill, a tier-three pill that temporarily heightened his sensitivity to wind attribute energy, boosting his speed.

The other was a Beast Strength Pill, a tier-four pill that greatly enhanced his strength.

With the pills ingested, the Ninth Prince's power surged, nearly doubling, and the potent effects gave him the confidence to turn the tide of battle.

"You're strong, but I'll be the one to laugh in the end. Ice Wheel of Mysterious Heaven, die!"

He had the rare ice attribute.

Unleashing a mid-tier Black-class technique, the Ninth Prince sent a two-meter-wide ice wheel spinning towards Chen Guan. The oppressive heat in the air seemed to cool as the attack bore down, its power undeniable.

But to Chen Guan, it was still no threat.

He summoned his broadsword and, with the force of splitting a mountain, slashed directly at the ice wheel, a move so simple yet ingrained in him to the bone.

From the VIP seats, Yun Yun and others were continually amazed, able to see clearly that Chen Guan had actually slashed seven times in that brief moment.

It was just too fast for the naked eye to catch.

Yao Ye, in her good mood, was also surprised. Lacking Yun Yun's strength, she couldn't see the intricacies and instead focused on the colour of Chen Guan's Dou Qi.

Profound red Dou Qi—it seemed he had switched to a higher-level cultivation technique, perhaps related to his disappearance over the past year.

Hiss—

Ice and fire clashed, creating a massive physical reaction upon contact. The enormous ice wheel shattered in an instant, leaving no doubt as to who was more robust.

The unrelenting force of Chen Guan's attack bore down on the Ninth Prince.

Under normal circumstances, the Ninth Prince would never have been able to dodge. But thanks to the Wind Pill, his speed had increased, allowing him to escape the deadly blow narrowly.

Just as the Ninth Prince, filled with shock, prepared to engage in a hit-and-run strategy, a hand suddenly appeared on his dantian. In the next moment, a surge of powerful Dou Qi poured into his body, destroying his foundation.

Under the control of an overwhelming soul force, speed was meaningless.

Like a deflated balloon, the Ninth Prince flew back and crashed to the ground, coughing up blood.

The pain spread throughout his body, but the destruction of his cultivation was far more complicated for him to accept.

"I told you, you're not worthy."

Those five simple words were like salt in the wound, breaking the Ninth Prince's last defences and putting him into madness.

"You crippled me! How dare you!"

Despite the pain, the Ninth Prince staggered to his feet and kept moving toward Chen Guan, furiously demanding an explanation.

"Take one more step, and I'll end your life," Chen Guan warned.

But the enraged prince was beyond reason, continuing his approach, determined to settle the score.

A man's word is as heavy as a mountain.

Without hesitation, Chen Guan hurled his sword.

It was a slow throw, but for the Ninth Prince, who had lost his Dou Qi, it was inescapable—like death itself.

At the brink of death, the prince finally regained some clarity, his face pale as he shouted, "Save me!"

The guard who had come with him had been ready to act earlier, but someone in the VIP seats had been suppressing him. Now, with the Ninth Prince on the brink of death, that pressure suddenly lifted, allowing him to spring into action.

As a Dou Spirit capable of shaping Dou Qi into physical objects, his enhanced abilities meant he could have saved the prince.

But his hope was dashed.

A shadow suddenly appeared in his path, delivering a fierce punch that not only forced him back but also inflicted a severe internal injury. Someone had ambushed him!

By the time he steadied himself and looked back, the prince was already pinned to the ground by Chen Guan's sword, blood splattering in all directions.

Chen Guan summoned his fourth-tier puppet, glanced at the stunned guard, and, seeing that he had no intention of retaliating, ignored him. The royal family would handle this.

Feeling satisfied, Chen Guan released his pent-up anger and returned to Yao Ye's side, rewarded with a slightly playful roll of her eyes.

Yao Ye was speechless. "When I said spare a life, I didn't mean you should let two people survive. That's a completely different concept!"

She strongly suspected that Chen Guan had done it on purpose.

But since things had already come to this, she didn't bother saying more. After all, in her original plan, the Ninth Prince wouldn't have lived much longer anyway.

"Big sister, you're beautiful today."

"Hm?"

"Your eyebrows are like the mountains; your eyes hold the stars; you sit in the dust yet are untouched by the mundane, indulging in the fire of life, a celestial guest in human skin."

"No matter how sweet your flattery is, don't think it'll get you out of explaining your disappearance for the past year," Yao Ye retorted with a cold humph.

Chen Guan's smile froze.

Alright, all that talk was for nothing.
