Childhood Friend Is a Genius Wizard

chapter 21

EP2. At the end of everyday life (7)

Sean is looking for Levy.

Perhaps it was because he stayed at the inn with Tina until late yesterday, Shawn woke up later than usual.

When he woke up, he found that it was already past lunch time and he couldn’t keep his promise to have lunch together.

He headed to the village chief’s house to apologize to him.

But Epinel said that Levy left for Sean’s house to punish him.

It was a very strange thing. Because Sean and Levy never met. There isn’t just one road from the chief’s house to yours, but of course it makes sense to choose the shortest path.

Until then, Sean didn’t think much of it. That’s because he may have wanted to go a different way depending on the day. In fact, there were a few times when Sean took a different path slowly with the mindset of taking a walk.

I would have come if I had waited a little longer. With such a silly thought, Sean went back home.

From then on, he felt a bit puzzled. He blames Levy for not being there even after returning home.

Just in case, Shawn even looked at Levi’s house right next door, but he couldn’t find any trace of Levi.

Sean was overcome by anxiety. Just in case, he searched all around the house. Sean didn’t know why. Perhaps it was because he knew only one piece of information: that Levi was coming to his house.

Then Sean was able to find something among the grass. It was a pair of shoes. Levi’s.

Sean felt like he was about to go mad. Obviously it wasn’t normal.

At first I thought Levy was playing a joke, but there was no way he would go this far and play a prank on her. At this level, you know Sean will worry about you.

I was overwhelmed with emptiness. At least he was able to set a goal when he parted with Levy in the back mountain. In any case, he had to go down the mountain. But now it’s different. This town is a very familiar place. Rather, that made it difficult for Sean to move. He had never even imagined losing Levi in the village.

When I was so confused and unable to move, I heard the sound of someone running.

It was not just light footsteps, but urgent footsteps galloping with full force. The sound gradually drew closer to Sean.

At last Shaun saw the owner of the footsteps. It was Lielcia. Perhaps it was because she ran without stopping, she stopped for a moment, took a deep breath, and spoke urgently to Sean.

“Shaun! It’s a big deal!”

“Why. What’s the matter?”

“Levi, Levi!”

In the beginning, Sean sensed that Levy was in real danger, not just a concern.

“Levy has been kidnapped! To that adventurer who stayed in the village!”

“Where are you?”

Sean didn’t show his anger or panic. He seemed very calm at first glance.

But Rielsia could tell. The boy wasn’t calm right now, but he was so angry that he couldn’t express any emotions.

“I just went out of town! I was going to chase after you…”

Sean didn’t listen to her anymore and moved right away. The destination was the boy’s house.

Rielcia saw Sean coming out again. Sean came out of the house and was already holding a sword.

Yes. Shaun returns with Luke’s sword.

Although I couldn’t protect it with this sword last time, I vowed to protect it this time.

Sean said to Lielcia.

“Since I’m going to save Levy, sister, hurry up and tell her chief.”

“····Yes, I understand. You have to be careful.”

For some reason, Rielsia did not stop the boy and agreed to it. Sean ran straight to the entrance of the village as if he didn’t even have time to answer.

When Shawn disappeared and was completely out of sight, Lee Elsia immediately erased her troubled expression and corrected her posture as if she had never done that.

She looked at the place where the boy had left for a long time with an incomprehensible look.

***

Sean ran quickly.

Thanks to my much better physical strength after hunting hard for the past month, it was possible to run awkwardly with a sword that was difficult to lift before.

The boy now was only filled with the thought of saving Levy.

So Sean arrived at the entrance of the village. Two roads diverged outside the village, one leading to the lord’s castle and the other passing through Laes.

As he pondered where to go, he remembered what Lee Elcia had said earlier.

‘The man who kidnapped Levi was obviously a male adventurer staying in the village.’

For a moment, Shawn recalled his previous quarrel at the inn.

I don’t know why he kidnapped Levi, but he will definitely catch him and make him pay for it.

Anyway, since the man was an adventurer on his way to Laes, there is a high probability that he will go to Laes. Having made that decision, Sean tried to go to Laes.

Then Sean found something. It was a footprint.

Originally, he wouldn’t care too much about such a trivial thing, but with Joe’s teaching, Sean learned to find and track his tracks. It was basic and not just limited to animals.

Shaun studied the footprints carefully. As for the footprints, there were only those of a large adult from the village to the entrance. But from outside the village, one more footprint appeared. Footprints of children smaller than adults.

The place where those footprints were left was not on the road to Laes, but on the road to the lord’s castle.

Based on those traces, Sean guessed. Perhaps the adventurer had kidnapped Levi and then captured him himself, but when he came out of town, he missed it because of Levi’s defiance.

When Levi ran away in the direction of the lord’s castle, his man must have followed.

It seemed to be a reasonable reasoning to some extent. If you see the width of the footprints widening from outside the village, it means that these two started running from then on. If it was simply putting Levi on the ground and letting him walk, there would be no reason to run like this.

As soon as Sean finished reasoning through the trail, he ran straight along the road to the lord’s castle.

How far he ran, Sean realized that he had succeeded in tracking. For there were loud shouts and screams in the distance. One of those voices was clearly Levi.

As Shaun got closer to the source, the conversation was also heard.

“You! If you rebel just one more time, you’ll be in big trouble! If you weren’t a wizard, I would have killed you the first time you rebelled!”

“Noisy! Shawn will come to my rescue in just a little while!”

“Yes!? Will your prince come sooner? Or is it faster for me to scold you?!”

Sean didn’t hear any further conversation and ran right away. Just like a month ago, he shouted, blocking the gap between his man and Levi.

“Levy! Are you okay!?”

“····Shaun!”

***

William was taken aback when someone blocked his way, but when he realized it was a little boy, he snorted.

“What? Is it you again? Okay. I feel like a prince and I’m excited. Is not it?”

In spite of the man’s sarcasm, Sean fixed his sword and just glared at him.

“Ha! Okay. He even brought a sword. Is this it? I don’t know where you got it, but do you think you can defeat me with a cheap sword like that? If it’s a sword from ancient times…”

While doing so, William took out the knife from the scabbard.

“····This should be enough!”

Sean was afraid. He was born in a village and had never fought before. But how much more did he fight with a real sword? If it goes wrong, it could cost him his life.

Even so, Shawn couldn’t back down. Because he was determined to keep the existence behind him. Even if it means losing his life as a result.

Sean continued to look at his man as he spoke to Levy.

“Levy. Stay back.”

“····But, Shawn····.”

“It’s okay. I will protect you.”

I am. It’s funny. Originally, I was just going to give it a moderate amount of fear and go fast. Looks like this cheeky boy needs some training. Even if I get hurt a little in the training process, that can’t be helped.

“Yes. At that time, I backed off because of Tina, but it’s different now. There is no one to protect you.”

“I watch myself. And I’ll protect Levi too.”

There is no need to be swayed by the words of a kid. If that guy has come all the way, it means that he must have already been known in the village, so you have to hurry.

Her man swung a sword. She thought that perhaps if she was slightly hurt, she would cry and run away.

But the result was different from her man’s idea. The boy dodged the sword.

You’re pretty lucky. Thinking the boy’s evasion was a mere coincidence, the man swung his sword a few more times.

Obviously Sean’s movements were awkward and withdrawn. But,

Avoided. Although he did not completely avoid it, and the slight wounds on his skin increased. Shawn was obviously avoiding all of them, not taking as much damage as William expected.

‘Nonsense!’

Shawn’s counterattack began this time to the panicking man.

The boy’s movements were too slow. He is holding a sword that is not suitable for his age, so it is a natural result.

But the slow attack was fierce. He kept digging into places that were hard to defend, hard to be aware of. The man noticed that she was getting carried away by the boy’s spirit.

It shouldn’t be like this. Now she decided to kill the boy no longer. I wouldn’t be coming back to this town anyway, so even though it was a little uncomfortable, it was better than having to keep dragging on time.

Things began to change when William changed his mind. Shawn found it increasingly difficult to defend against attacks. There were more and more scars all over his body. And.

The man’s blow severely cut the boy.

Although he took his body to avoid it, the wound this time was quite serious. A stab wound left in Shawn’s stomach. The boy sat down feeling a sharp pain in his stomach.

It was a blow that William was about to finish Sean off completely, but he was horrified in his heart to see that even that was avoided. He had no choice but to admit it. That this boy didn’t just stand by chance, he had talent.

But if that’s the case, you shouldn’t let this child live. He doesn’t know how he’ll come back later. The man approached Sean, who was sitting hesitantly, and grabbed his sword in reverse and raised it.

‘I’ll let you go at once without pain.’

Aim the sword at the boy’s head.

Pow-!

With the sound of a fire burning on his shoulder.

“Ouch!”

William looked at his attacker as he grabbed his shoulder.

A little girl had her arms outstretched, her palms outstretched.

That can’t be.

This is nonsense.

William already knew from Tina’s words that the girl was a wizard. That’s why he checked carefully when he kidnapped Levi.

There were no magic circles on the girl’s belongings or body. That alone would have been enough, but the man even stole the magic book.

In the first place, William didn’t hear any chanting!

Using magic without any spells or magic circles? Even with the man’s shallow knowledge, that would be nonsense. Would it be possible for a wizard belonging to the Mage Tower? However, William had never seen a Wizard of the Mage Tower in his life. I’ve only heard that they are something beyond people.

It’s dangerous. He immediately changed his goals. From boy to girl.

Originally, they planned to capture the girl and sell her as a slave, but now things have changed.

I don’t know how far that girl can go. In the face of life-threatening threats, there is no choice but to choose a sure method.

Shaun watched as the man slowly approached Levy. After using the magic once, Levy sat there, unable to move, as if her strength had run out.

‘····No. I’m the only one who can save Levy right now!’

I forcibly raised my weak leg. When I got up and started walking slowly, blood poured out of my stomach. Maybe it’s because he’s lost too much blood, but he’s starting to lose consciousness. Sean didn’t care.

Shaun started running, trying to catch up with his man. He fell behind the man and slashed her man.

That was the end.

Shaun realized he couldn’t move anymore. The final blow only slightly wounded the man’s calf. William laughed at Shawn, who was lying on his stomach. And he mocked the boy, trying to drive him to despair.

“Ha! Is that the end Little Prince!? Then take a slow look there. The moment I put your princess to sleep. . . . Forever . . .”

Please.

If only I had a little more strength.

If only I had been a little stronger,

If I were Luke’s older brother. Could he have saved Levy?

William stood in front of Levy to finish off the girl.

And.

The coolness of the smooth metal hit her man’s neck.

At last, the deep voice of an old man rang low.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t think your wish will come true.”

A retired old knight. There was deep anger in Wilhelm’s voice.
