Cobra Kai: The Dragon Warrior

Chapter 29: One Month Later

Dojo Sakura Bushido

"Rest!" Mr. Kim shouted, looking at Dash and Devon bathed in sweat after an intense combat simulation training that lasted more than ten minutes.

The current Dash had grown even more, and Devon was not far behind; she had developed both physically and mentally. The days without training were something she couldn't ignore, so together with Dash, they prepared to participate in the training that admitted the female division for competition.

Mr. Kim stood in front of his students and said, "Things have gone much further than I had thought. Both of you have adapted to the combat techniques you feel most comfortable with and have made giant strides. From now on, besides training, I have nothing more to teach you."

"Nothing more?" Devon was surprised after hearing this declaration.

"It's time for each of you to develop your Kung Fu in the way that suits you best, in addition to learning more in the doctrines that you still lack, which is something you can implement in your training."

Dash, who had opened his training report to wipe off sweat, smiled instinctively. During the last month, his combat experience had improved a lot because both he and Devon trained with Mr. Kim, who was very skilled in combat.

The techniques he used had leveled up, and he was sure they were sufficient to fight decently in the tournament, even though he wasn't sure of winning because he didn't know his rivals. He blindly believed that at least one of them would win.

With the holidays approaching, Dash knew perfectly well that the time had come to test himself and see if that burning desire inside him when he was lying on a hospital bed had been enough to become strong in the time he had lived in this new life.

"As you no longer require more instructions, what you should do from now on is train muscle memory movements and avoid heavy exercises so that you are in the best physical condition."

Dash, who understood this perfectly, asked, "Mr. Kim, what do you think are our chances now?"

"They will be the surprise of the place; don't forget that nobody knows you, let alone your great skills that you have been acquiring over the months." Mr. Kim replied as he bowed to greet and left.

"Then see you in the competition, Master Kim. Remember that we haven't learned about weapon techniques yet in case it's ever needed in karate."

Devon turned her head and asked, "Why the hell do you want a weapon?"

"I mentioned that you would look amazing with the black sword I gave you for your birthday. Won't we participate in a competition where weapon techniques need to be shown? Points could be vital in that kind of competition." Dash walked towards the second floor where there were private showers.

"That sword... How do you give a girl a sword as a birthday gift?"

"Then what do you want? You've put aside debates, so either I give you food you can enjoy or something you can use in the future."

Devon smiled without Dash looking at her, and she walked to the female showers, but before she left, he shouted, "You might consider showering next to me; we could share soap, and you could help me clean my back since I can't reach some places."

"Adolescence is bringing serious problems to your mental state. Stop mentioning silly jokes and hurry up, as we could go to the movies before it gets dark."

"Fine..." Dash thought, remembering Dre, the enamored guy, incredible how he enjoys himself in a country where everyone speaks Chinese.

The current Dojo, now remodeled with two floors, features a modernized interior with advanced training equipment, including practice dummies for Kung Fu and Karate that Dash had tried very frequently.

In addition to exercise tools, what stood out the most were the weapons on the walls, which were not just for decoration, although most of them were securely fastened.

On the second floor were the showers, but since there was also a place to train, it made it an incredible place.

Located near an agricultural forest, the natural breeze creates a pleasant atmosphere, offering a unique and serene place for practice and learning.

When Dash came out, he wore a two-piece set of clothes with marked purple letters on the Dojo, and Devon wore the same. For her, starting to promote the place where they would receive new students was important from now on.

"You seem even more interested in having more students than me. Is it really that bad spending all that time together with me?" Dash acted in a way that annoyed Devon, but she never told him anything, so this was his method to test her patience.

"Remember that your father can kick you out of the house. I don't want you to become a vagabond if you can't pay your debts; that's very dangerous." Devon pretended to be concerned as she caressed Dash's hair that he had just combed.

"Hey, if we win, shall we try beer?"

"Addictions are bad; we'll try some alcohol when we're at least fifteen..." Devon rode a scooter and followed Dash, who was staring at her.

"You lost last time..."

"I may have lost the race, but I will never lose entirely unless I give up..."

Devon smiled and said, "Then catch up to me, and if you do, I'll treat you to popcorn!"
