Chapter 33: What's the Outcome?
"What happened there?"
"He couldn't believe it, just one kick from that kid took down that large karateka..."
"It's insane, bro, you sent him to hell with that kick!" Shouted a man who was already drunk.
Daniel LaRusso, who had seen his daughter win in the preliminaries, saw a boy knocked down on the ground. Upon realizing that the opponent was the same boy who had been next to him a moment ago, he was surprised.
"Dash, idiot, did you break his leg?" Devon stood next to Daniel just after winning her fight and watched as the doctors attended to Dash's opponent. She was surprised, admitting that she was excited to see her friend defeat a gigantic rival, but that wasn't the point here.
"Do you both train in kicks?" Daniel looked at Devon, and upon realizing that they belonged to the same Sakura Bushido dojo, he asked with slight interest. Now knowing Dash's last name, he knew he was Frederick's son, who had bought the expensive car about to be auctioned.
"He specializes in strikes; I can't tell you what I specialize in because I might have to face your daughter." Devon looked at Daniel, and after seeing Dash's opponent being taken care of by the medics, she ran towards that spot.
"What's the result?" Mr. Kim had learned everything, so after finding Devon, he waited to know what decision the referee would take.
"It was a legal kick; you shouldn't think too much about it!" Devon shouted, looking at the kids from the dojo of the boy who had just been knocked down by Dash and glared at them angrily.
"Check his foot; he must have something hidden!" Shouted a Topanga Karate girl.
"Bitch, I'm going to check your mouth and get those ideas out of your head with punches!" Devon, who wanted to start the fight right now because that girl was slandering her friend, was stopped by Mr. Kim, who was in chaos.
"Whenever you're ready, Miss Lee, you must have grown up seeing that you won a fight, but I'll crush you once we fight."
"I'll break those teeth, bitch!" murmured Devon while whispering to the girl who was barking nonsense.
"This is crazy..." Dash is aware that he kicked in an area where he could hit the leg nerve, but he didn't think it would be as effective as Mr. Kim had said. When the referee spoke with others from the committee, he called the two senseis from each dojo, and Dash approached Devon as if fearing she would get into a fight.
"Did you hit him hard?"
"That guy was huge; I thought a normal punch wouldn't beat him, so I wanted to stop him when he started throwing punches at me..." Dash explained his point while seeking the looks of those discussing what would happen.
After reaching a decision, the referee looked at Dash and said, "Valid point. Since your opponent can't continue, you're the winner; you advance!"
"Yeah, take that, you damn bitch!" Devon celebrated the knockout victory and walked alongside the bewildered Dash to another place.
Mr. Kim was sweating cold, having two monsters in the combat as disciples. It was satisfying, but at the same time, they gave him many problems. Devon's aggressiveness didn't help at all, so after pulling them away, he ordered them to maintain composure.
"One more fight, and you'll be classified for the round of sixteen in each division. Don't do anything crazy and win with harder hits."
"If I end up with the bitches from Topanga Karate, I can't promise anything!"
"That's my Devon!" Dash smiled upon hearing those comments.
"Dash Hale and Devon Lee, get ready as you will fight in two minutes."
When called, Dash bumped fists with Devon, and both headed to their respective places where they were called.
"That's my girl, kick those witches' faces who have spread lies about Dash!" Mrs. Zoe supported her daughter from the side.
Elena clenched her fists seeing her son about to be hit. This is supposed to be a contact match, but it was still difficult for her to see her son in combat.
"Did you see that kick? My son was practicing it day and night, non-stop. It's no surprise that he hurt that guy's nerve." Frederick said, sitting next to Mr. Zac.
"The kids have really advanced to a level in this competition. I don't even want to imagine what a tournament in China would be like, especially in Kung Fu, which is a more open martial art." Zac praised Devon and Dash's results while watching the other fights that were a bit more normal.
"I contacted the organization of that karate tournament, and I have the date. You should plan a good vacation because Devon will want to go see the matches." Frederick couldn't hide his happiness seeing his son's overwhelming victory.
In normal situations, he would be at work, but seeing all the progress his son had made so far, he gave him a chance, and he hadn't disappointed.
"The fights start again at the same time. This is crazy because we won't be able to support them at the same time."
"At least they're recording the fights; we can watch the replays later."
