chapter 19
19 – secret(2)
Silverin was silently lost in thought. I can’t give a definitive answer yet, but I have strong doubts.
She briefly recalled memories from long ago.
There was no point in questioning Damian. If you ask why the magic regeneration ability is so good, even Damian would have nothing to say. I know nothing about magic.
Silverin put her hands behind her back and caressed a ring on her finger. It was one of the highest ranked artifacts she owned.
Artifacts allow you to dig into Damian’s past.
However, if you use force to reveal the dark place, your relationship with Damian will be ruined forever.
And Damian may close the door of his heart and never come out of the cave again.
‘Now is not the time.’
Silverin removed her hand from the ring.
“Me, teacher?”
Damian makes a worried expression as he sees the maid sitting down. The maid was holding her chest and breathing hard.
“that person… . Are you okay?”
You have absolutely no idea that you made it that way.
“No, it will be difficult to walk alone. I’m going to call someone now, so wait.”
Damian doesn’t seem to have the slightest concept of magic. It’s not difficult, so it’s a problem that can be told later.
Silverin pulled out Stitch. I had to have a servant take the maid.
“I will do it. You don’t have to bother with that.”
Damian ran to the maid and sat down, showing his back to her.
The maid blushes and shakes her hand, but, unable to overcome Damian’s insistence, she reluctantly leans on his back.
Damien stands up with the maid on his back and looks at Sylverine as if asking when he’s going.
When he started training not too long ago, he suffered from muscle pain and was supported by a maid, but now, after completing all training and having exhausted his magic power, he is carrying the maid who supported him in reverse.
Growing up.
The corners of Silverin’s mouth went up slightly as he watched this quietly.
‘Looking at it now, it has a bit of a taste.’
***
Garden trees are lined up on both sides of the road, and at the end of the road is a white mansion.
No matter how hard they manage, dozens of garden trees were maintaining the same shape. Every passing moment through the garden felt like déjà vu.
This kind of scenery even gave her the impression that landscaping was obsessive.
The butler was out to meet him.
“It is an honor to meet you.”
Faced with the archmage, the butler’s face shows fear even though he tries hard to hide it.
Even though they had asked Sylverin for help with their own hands.
“Where is the family head of Rayleigh and is the butler coming to meet you?”
With a face that seems to be 30 years younger than the head of the family, he is giving a face to the name of the head of the great family.
Despite such outspoken remarks, the butler was depressed and made only poor excuses.
“You responded to the call of the imperial family due to unavoidable circumstances.”
“Cowardly things.”
“I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Silverin.”
“I guess this person, Rayleigh, gave up at all?”
Even though it was related to their only blood relative, they were putting forward a proxy. It felt like it was a chore to go out on my own.
“… The head of household is always doing his best.”
Silverin snorted.
After following the butler’s guidance and entering the mansion, the butler continued to guide Sylverin.
“This way.”
The butler passed through the hallway and stopped in front of a door.
“My lady is in here.”
Silverin opened the door wide and looked inside the room.
In this room with no furniture, not even a window, a girl who looks to be about 10 years old is sitting alone.
She is sitting with her legs outstretched and waving her arms in the air.
The Reilless clan, the best elementalist family in the Empire.
This girl was Luna, a genius elementalist who inherited the ‘spirit king’s blessing’ passed down from generation to generation in the Reillys clan.
She babbles like she’s saying something with her mouth. However, as if a thick glass wall blocked Luna’s way, no sound was transmitted.
As if Luna was joking around, she waved her hands in the empty air and laughed.
In the butler’s eyes, it would feel like Luna was playing with a ghost.
However, Silverin could feel it.
Spirits filled Luna’s room.
And the language of the spirit that Luna shouted.
A girl who learned the spirit’s language before the human’s.
A child who has long refused to communicate with humans.
Even Luna’s parents couldn’t communicate with her.
Luna’s parents pointed out Silverin, who belonged to the Eternia Academy, and asked for help, and that’s how she came to the mansion of the Reillys family.
This room was all Luna’s territory.
And Silverin didn’t care about this and strode into Luna’s realm. If it was someone else, he would have been attacked by the spirit right away.
In response, Luna nervously glared at Silverine.
Luna shouts to the spirits to get rid of that person.
However, the spirit doesn’t do anything. All the spirits were terrified when they saw Silverine.
Luna is perplexed.
These spirits can never touch Silverin.
Because Silverin was a ‘higher’ existence than Luna.
Luna is terrified. Then, avoid Silverin and step back.
Luna is driven into the wall and her expression distorts.
Finally, Luna breaks down in tears and shouts someone’s name.
Tak Tak Tak Tak
A maid jumps into Luna’s realm with hasty steps in the hallway.
She was a young maid who could have just become an adult.
The maid hugs Luna and soothes her with the language of the spirit.
Silverin watches this with a gaze full of interest.
It was very rare for a maid to speak the language of the spirits.
Silverin said to the butler.
“Does this family even hire attendants as elementalists?”
“Not at all. Sonya has never learned any elemental magic, and is just an attendant who has served the Reillys family since she was a child.”
“How can a servant speak the language of spirits?”
“I don’t know that, not even Sonya herself.”
According to the butler, the only person Luna opened up to was Sonya.
Luna and Sonya’s relationship had lasted for nearly a decade.
Sonya also said that she hadn’t seen the spirits or understood their language in the years she’d taken care of Luna. But at some point, he said he was able to understand the language of the spirits and even handle some of the lower spirits.
It was a phenomenon that Silverin had also encountered for the first time. A meeting of two talented elementals. The probability was very slim to see that Sonya’s innate talent had simply blossomed after the meeting.
***
After dinner and a bath, Silverine sat at a table on the balcony. It was late at night and it was time to go to sleep.
A letter from Luna was placed on Silverin’s table. A few years ago, since Luna received Sylverine’s help, she sent Sylverine a letter of regards every year.
According to the news that flew in, Luna was also on the verge of entering Eternia Academy.
Silverin read Luna’s letter every time, but never replied. To her, Luna was just one of the beings passing by in miscellaneous daily life, and she had no intention of interacting emotionally.
Silverin yawned and went through the magical thesis and research materials.
I never thought that I would bring up a topic that I had lost interest in a long time ago.
Cases like Sonya’s were reported to the Magic Society, and research was conducted in earnest several years ago.
The reason Sonya learned spiritism was because of the ‘magical transference’ phenomenon that occurs when a person with magical talent maintains a strong bond and sympathy for a long time.
‘Magic Transfer’ is, in simple terms, assimilation of magic ability due to too much sympathy.
Funny enough, this wasn’t a new discovery.
The venerable wizarding families that have been in existence for hundreds of years have already been using ‘magic transfer’ for a long time.
This was like an open secret of wizarding families.
They selected children born with the ‘authority’ unique to blood relatives within the family and forced them into incestuous marriages.
By doing so, the power of the authority was completely subordinated to the family, and through the bond forcibly formed, ‘magical transfer’ was created to maximize the family’s benefits generated by the authority.
Of course, because it was forced, the effect was minimal. They considered it much better than sharing power with others.
Silverin suspected that Damian’s deformed magical growth was accomplished through ‘magical assimilation’ with someone with authority.
In Sonya’s case, spiritism also grew abnormally.
The spirit’s language was the ability to bloom through contracts with intermediate spirits. However, she spoke the language of the spirits while barely dealing with the lower spirits.
The vessel of magical power is small, but the regeneration ability is similar to that of Damian, who is exceptionally good.
Silverin assumed that Damian’s ability was due to ‘magic transfer’, and estimated the depth of bond and strength of sympathy that would have to be achieved in order to generate such regenerative ability.
If Damian’s below-average magical ability blooms to a higher level… .
In the cases of ‘magic transfer’ recorded in the society, there was not a single case in which the magical ability developed to a high level.
‘It’s too strange.’
Silverin’s head pounded the more concretely she imagined it, and she pressed her temples. I even heard unpleasant feelings.
Beyond simply having a good bond, it had to reach into the realm of pain.
The desire for each other is so strong that it hurts and chokes your breath.
I had to maintain such a bond for close to 9 or 10 years.
It was a very unreal story.
***
Harman’s workshop.
It was where Damien worked until a few months ago.
Normally, there should be no one at night like this, but this time it was different.
The studio was full of people.
All limbs were tied with ropes, filling the studio in rows.
All of them were Damian’s workshop colleagues and teachers. Among them were the orphans who lived with Damian at Lorail House.
They were trembling with extreme anxiety.
And where they faced each other, five assailants stood there with their robes and masks covering their faces.
Above their heads, hundreds of ice picks the size of a man’s forearm float, aiming at people tied to ropes.
In the center of the masked crowd stood a woman with long silver hair holding a long staff. Silver hair that Damien is familiar with.
And she aimed the staff at the neck of the one who was Damian’s workshop teacher.
“What about Damian?”
He shook his head and shook his head.
The staff is directed at the orphan who lived with Damian at Lorail House.
He also sheds tears and shakes his head.
“… .”
As if the woman lost all strength in her collapse, the staff descends and looks at the ground.
Soon after, hundreds of ice picks rush towards the people who are tied up.
Screams pour in, and the workshop quickly turns into a sea of blood.
The masked men next to him summon spheres of fire in their hands and throw them everywhere.
The workshop is instantly engulfed in flames, and the roof collapses.
And Damian woke up from his dream.
