Chapter 35 – Arcueid’s Thoughts

Chapter 35 - Arcueid's Thoughts

Hestia felt a bit sour realizing that the closeness between her and Bell was surpassed by Hephaestus.

The kind of jealousy and bitterness she'd never felt before made her uncomfortable.

Her gaze lingered on Hephaestus; an inexplicable emotion grew in her heart.

Hephaestus and Bell didn't think much of it.

"This is so like you!" Hephaestus said, rolling her eyes at Hestia.

"Well... Have you forgotten Bell's skills? Didn't we discuss this last time?"

Hestia paused, her jealous emotions barely restrained. The question they talked about last time—was it related to Bell?

"Yeah... The number of monsters spawning?"

"That's right." Hephaestus snapped her fingers like she just had an epiphany.

Last time, Hephaestus had wondered why so many monsters were spawning on the first floor.

Obviously, the number and timing of monster spawns should follow the rules of each floor.

There would never be 264 goblins on the first floor.

"Under normal circumstances, the number and timing of monster spawns on a floor are fixed, especially on the upper levels. But because of Bell's skills, an extraordinary number of monsters spawned, directly affecting the Dungeon."

"This abnormal influence caused other floors to experience the same phenomenon as the first floor, and the Monster Party throughout the Dungeon stemmed from this."

"Seriously?!" Hestia was stunned. She hadn't known the Dungeon could be affected like that.

"Naturally, it's possible. The Dungeon hates gods and also dislikes adventurers who have their blessings."

"Bell's Luck increases the Dungeon's efforts to drive away adventurers because it feels that Bell is difficult to expel. So, the Dungeon intensified its actions on all floors to force Bell out."

In Hephaestus's view, Bell wasn't favored by the Dungeon but was hated by it. Because his Luck made it impossible for the Dungeon to locate him, it would spawn monsters crazily.

This made Hephaestus even more interested in Bell's background.

Glancing thoughtfully at Bell, she pondered, 'Harnessing some of the power of arcanum and being hated by the Dungeon—what is your identity?'

Although she cared about his identity, Hephaestus wasn't too worried about Bell himself.

"Though the time was short, judging by your expression, you've gained a lot today, right?"

"Yes," Bell replied.

He felt he had answers to many questions, which was really a great achievement.

The power of the low-star items shouldn't be underestimated. Moreover, today's fight proved how effective these items were.

At the same time, Bell was looking forward to pulling five-star items. These items had all sorts of abnormal abilities.

Of course, Bell hadn't forgotten that as the game progressed to later stages, the number of one-star to three-star items rarely increased, but four-star and five-star items kept increasing.

It's just that most of the four-star and five-star items were limited to Valentine's Day events, so many of them were essentially useless.

However, Bell was looking forward to getting weapons like Caliburn.

Even if he didn't know whether he could use it, the level of that thing would definitely surpass many top-tier weapons.

"The same goes for the goblin fangs—I got 241 of them. If there's any problem, please let me know, Hephaestus-sama," Bell said.

"You obtained so many in such a short amount of time?" Hephaestus was a little surprised to hear the number of goblin fangs he had collected.

Considering Bell hadn't been in the Dungeon very long. But in that short time, he had killed so many goblins, which showed how much his strength had improved since last time.

"Well, after all, you have many skills and magic that's nearly overpowered, so it's not surprising to see such quick progress."

Even so, Hephaestus was still amazed by Bell's strength.

Other adventurers grew slowly over time, but Bell seemed to be completely different, almost like he was riding a dragon.

If this continued, his basic abilities might reach the limit for Level 1 adventurers.

"Bell, how much growth do you think you'll see after entering the Dungeon for the second time?"

"Um... I'm not sure. Only after Hestia-sama updates my status will I know."

How much had he grown after entering the Dungeon for the second time?

Bell wasn't certain.

These improvements weren't only from his second Dungeon entry; the muscle memory he got from the nameless martial artist contributed greatly.

He could only feel that his basic abilities had increased substantially, but he had no idea by how much.

Hephaestus then looked at Hestia, who was holding Bell.

"Hestia, aren't you curious?"

Of course, Hestia was curious about how much Bell had grown during this time.

But seeing how interested Hephaestus was, Hestia couldn't help but let out some annoyed grumbles.

"Well..."

Seeing Hestia's reluctance, Hephaestus knew that this idiot was being stubborn. However, she already knew how to handle Hestia in this state—just tease her a bit.

"Could it be that you don't even care about Bell?"

"Who said that!" Suddenly, Hestia jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

Yet she was still pouting, and it seemed it would take some time for her to calm down.

She didn't want to deal with her good friend for a while; Hephaestus was starting to get on her nerves.

"Bell, let's update your status!"

It's been three days since Arcueid arrived in this world.

Keeping an eye on Bell (Shiki) was pretty tiring, and there was also the risk of alerting the girl beside him. Still, it didn't take long for Arcueid to learn about this place.

Here, ordinary people can gain power just by receiving a favor—called Falna—from a god.

That was shocking to her because mysteries are supposed to stay hidden.

Ah, she had forgotten...

The Age of Gods hasn't ended here, so there's no need to hide mysteries. Even though the info she gathered said these gods have limited their power to that of normal humans, things probably aren't that simple.

Anyway, she was afraid of these gods; who knows, they might see her as filth and purify her in an instant.

But she had to protect Bell (Shiki); maybe he was also brought here by the same force. Knowing Bell (Shiki), she was sure he was worried about something.

'Shiki, don't worry. This time, I won't leave you.'

They say there's no medicine for regret in this world. She was heartbroken when she left him, and now all she wants is to be together again.

Arcueid realized she was wrong. She knew some of Bell's abilities, but she also thought he'd only live for about a hundred years.

She didn't want a tragedy to happen; she couldn't bring herself to hurt Bell (Shiki), so she left him after the fight with Roa.

With her infinite lifespan, their relationship seemed hopeless.

But now there's a chance: if Bell (Shiki) can become immortal or a divine being, they can move forward together.

With this Falna and Bell's talent, Arcueid was sure he'd become super strong. Then, she and Bell could personally torture Roa to death.

As for those dangerous girls around Bell (Shiki), she wasn't too worried about them. After all, she'd already given her first time to Bell, and he was her first too.

'Ufufu, just wait, Shiki. I hope you'll be as strong as ever,' Arcueid hummed softly.
