DC Heroes in Marvel

Chapter 163: C145

When Anton went home to see Jameson, he was beside a gray-haired, not young but energetic, not flashy, yet majestic man.

This person was John Keller.

Keller often appeared in the TV news. As a half-journalist, Anton was no stranger to him.

So far, Keller was also no stranger to him.

Otherwise, Keller wouldn't have called him to see him.

And it was through the old man, Jameson, who went around in such a circle and made an appointment with him.

This seemed to indicate that Keller was not malicious.

"Mr. Keller, first meeting, you look more imposing than on the news," Anton said as he shook hands with Keller.

"Anton, you're more energetic than I expected," Keller smiled and spoke.

Tailing?

Anton narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Relax."

Keller noticed the subtle change in Anton's mood and smiled. "I have no malice, or I wouldn't have asked you through Jameson! After all, I'm the Secretary of Defense."

"I and Keller are old friends," Jameson added, as if pointing it out. "Anton, Keller sees you for the Justice League."

"Justice League?" Anton asked, confused.

"Mr. Keller, since you're the Secretary of Defense, I'll tell you something frankly. I can indeed get in touch with the Justice League, but I'm just a minor character, and I don't know what your purpose is."

"It's about aliens."

Seeing Anton's cooperation, Keller bluntly continued, "The recent alien attack and the news report from the Daily Bugle made the whole world see real aliens. But there is one thing you may not be clear about, including the fact that only a handful of people know about it."

"What's the matter?"

Anton and Jameson both showed the same interest.

"The recent alien invasion is not the first time aliens have been discovered on Earth," Keller said slowly.

"So, you've found aliens long ago?" Jameson asked, surprised.

As a bigwig in the press, there was very little news in the world that could be concealed from him, including secrets that only circulated among politicians.

However, this level of confidential information was something he had never encountered.

"That's right."

Keller nodded, staring at the two people in front of him, and said in a deep voice, "As early as the beginning of the last century, we found traces of aliens. According to our investigation, aliens came to Earth thousands of years ago, when humans were still in the time of savages and living primitively."

"At the beginning of the last century?"

Now it was Anton's turn to be surprised.

Something didn't add up!

He had thought that Keller was talking about the Kree invasion in the 1990s. But unexpectedly, it was at the beginning of the last century. What plot is this?

"We call these aliens NBE—Non-Biological Entities," Keller said. "From the outside, they appear to be very advanced robots, but in fact, they are a kind of mechanical life..."

At this point, he suddenly looked up at Anton, adding meaningfully, "It's like the cyborg in the Justice League, except that cyborg is half-human, half-machine, while the NBE-ONE we found is a purely mechanical lifeform."

"Pure mechanical lifeform..."

Anton muttered these words, and an incredible thought crossed his mind.

Whoosh!

Keller turned on the laptop in front of him, turning the screen toward Anton and Jameson. "This is NBE-ONE."

On the screen, a robot covered in frost, resembling a hill, stood in the center with cables plugged into it. From time to time, people could be seen removing parts from the robot, sparks flying.

"At the beginning of the last century, a captain named witwicky discovered it. We spent tremendous effort to drag it out of the glacier and kept it frozen using our technology. Later, after research, it was determined that it has either fallen asleep or is dead."

Keller said, "But we have learned a lot from it, almost all of our current technology. Integrated circuits, lasers, spacecraft, cars, etc., are all the results of studying it."

"Do you suspect that the alien who invaded Earth not long ago came because of this... NBE-ONE?"

Jameson couldn't help but speak up.

"That's right."

Keller nodded, manipulating his laptop and calling up another video. "In fact, long before the alien appeared, we found a living, purely mechanical alien on Mars—specifically, the trace of NBE. After that, we've been preparing for them to come to Earth, but we didn't expect them to find a chance."

"The teleportation device..."

Keller glanced at Anton, his face solemn. "I have to say that the technology these aliens have mastered makes humanity unable to defend itself."

"So, you need help from the Justice League."

Anton remained silent when Keller mentioned the teleportation device, vaguely guessing Keller's purpose.

"It's not help, it's cooperation."

Keller replied. "Since you also have certain information, there's a basis for cooperation between you and the military."

Keller finished speaking, then added, "After all, the Justice League wants to appear above board, instead of always acting like illegal vigilantes, right?"

Now Anton understood.

Keller had learned from the World Security Council (behind Nick Fury) about the legal identity the Justice League was seeking. In addition, the alien attack in New York a few days ago had allowed the military to see the potential of the Justice League.

Under the threat of aliens, the military began to consider the Justice League—who had resolved the alien attack in New York. Since they were operating within their own territory, it was only natural for the military to want to control this extraordinary power.

Coincidentally, Nick Fury had reported the situation of the Justice League to the World Security Council.

And the U.S. representative to the World Security Council informed the military about it.

Thus, the military committee, composed of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the three branches, and the Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, decided after much discussion that Secretary of Defense John Keller, who had a friendship with Jameson, would come forward and approach Anton.

Their goal was to attempt to absorb the Justice League into the military.

Don't underestimate the Justice League.

After the military evaluated the current strength of the Justice League, they realized that, when assembled, it was no weaker than an army. If they could win over the Justice League, they'd have an incredible asset for the future.

The military wasn't stupid.

Even General Ross, who had died, was no fool; he was just too arrogant for his own good.

"Mr. Keller, I can't answer you about this matter right now," Anton said, pausing for a moment to think.

"I understand," Keller replied. "Batman is your boss, isn't he?"

Keller nodded, speaking mildly but with no doubt in his tone. "I don't have much time. I hope you can contact Batman. I would like to meet with him as soon as possible."

Hearing this, Jameson subconsciously became nervous.

He knew Anton's true identity and also knew that Anton had been trying to hide it.

Listening to Keller's tone, it seemed he wouldn't stop until he met Batman today. Was it possible that Anton would have to expose himself?
