Dc: The Brother of Superman

Chapter 43: The Tower (1)

It's been a couple of months of me doing nothing but work on my books, investments, and martial arts; I didn't even use magic.

I took a full vacation, but everything good must come to an end.

[You have purchased the expert dungeon key "Ivory Tower" and transferred it to your inventory.]

{Finally another dungeon; it's been a while}~{Equipment(check), potions(check), talismans(check), ok, everything is ready}~

"Right, [Wheel of Elements] spinn, please."

Inside my soul, I could see a wheel spinning rapidly, then the arrow stopped in the wind.

[Elemental Damage(Wind)+200%] (Permanent)

{Better than nothing. Later, I will change to fire}

"Ok, time to go..." I pulled out the key from my inventory, then I approached the bathroom door.

{I think going through the bathroom door has become a tradition}

*Click* I opened the door, and I went through the door.

When I recovered my sight I was in the middle of nowhere; only an impressive black tower was in my sight, and when I looked up, I couldn't see the top of it.

{It looks like the mythical Tower of Babel.}

Different carvings adorned the tower walls; the meaning of those carvings could take me weeks to interpret.

{So what am I supposed to do here?}

[Dungeon Quest]

[Capture or Eliminate the Arch-Mage 0/1][Clear the Trial 0/1]

[Decide the fate of Tower 0/1].

{Hmm...so this tower is a dungeon itself}~{Again, capture or kill}~

"Well, I need to find the entrance first."

Observing the tower, I saw what looked to be an entrance on the right side of it—a huge arch of a door—but the door was sealed.

*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*

I walked close to the entrance; I can see now how complex the carvings are, and there were some words carved on top of the entrance.

[Quod est primum in vita]

"Huh? What is the most important thing in life?"

{Money?, Love?, Food?, Water?}

~{wait.. I'm here to capture or kill a mage, so what is he doing there? I doubt he is here for those things, so the correct answer is...} ~

"scientia"

~Hum~

As soon as I said those words, the sealed door started to glow, illuminating the patterns on the door.

After a couple of seconds, the door moved to the side.

[Welcome Seeker of Knowledge] An ancient voice greets me.

"Thank you, I guess," I said as I went through the door.

When I passed the door, it closed itself, leaving me trapped here. I looked around the inside of the tower.

There was a circle in the center, and at the end of it there were some massive pillars made out of some kind of rock; they were connected to the roof, the floor, and the walls, and even the pillars were carved with runes.

{It's a combination of all of the runes, but it's blended pretty well}

[The knowledge, and Power you seek is within this tower.]

"But?"

[Everything has a price seeker]

"Of course it has..."

[Prove your worth, seeker, and maybe those prices will be bearable to pay.]

"How do I prove it?"

[The Trial]

"I see. Very well. I want to take the trial."

[Understood, good luck seeker]

In the middle of the room where the circle was, a smaller circle appeared, and I can see the runes of it.

"Space, so a transfer circle; I guess I need to go there." I approached the circle, and I took a step forward.

*Zing*

{Ahh, my eyes, fu**k!}

~{Note to myself: Close your eyes when you teleport via circle}~

*Huff*

When I recovered my vision, I was on top of a platform. There were benches around the platform, but no one was on them.

[Seeker, the trail consists of three parts: the trail of knowledge, the trail of heart, and the trail of power].

[Are you ready for your first trial?]

"Yes"

The trail of knowledge will begin.

Suddenly, four golems like warriors made out of pure Mithril descent from the rooftop into the platform and surrounded me.

[First Question: Name the ore these golems are made of]

"Mithril"

[Correct] *Kling* *bom* Suddenly, one of the warriors kneeled on the platform.

{Hmm?, so that means there's only four questions?}

[Second Question: What do you obtain by combining the runes (life), (time), and (death)?]

"Eternity"

[Correct] *Kling* *bom* Another kneeled.

{Two more}

[Third Question: What do you need to create a magic artifact?]

"Hmm...generally speaking, you need magic ore or magic leather, then you need a spell or rune matrix, and finally you need a clean or corrupt soul orb."

[Correct]*Kling* *bom*

{One more}

[Fourth Question: What is considered the most powerful magic?]

"Time Magic"

[Correct]*Kling* *bom*

[Congratulations, Seeker, you have passed the first trail.]

"Thank you"

[Do you wish to proceed to the second one?]

"Yes"

*Boom* *Boom* *Boom* *Boom*

Another four golem-like warriors drop from the rooftop. They put themselves on the four corners of the platform.

[The Trial of the Heart will begin]

A bright light engulfed the entire room, and when my sight returned, I was in a strange house. The house was poor, and the walls, furniture, and floor were worn out.

Exploring more, there was nothing to eat either, so I just went to the entrance door, but before I could exit the door, the door opened itself.

A woman came through the door. She was thin and dirty-looking.

"You wake up, Roland. Let mom prepare supper. Go wash yourself."

"Yes mom"{Hmm?, I'm not speaking}

I was watching as the child (myself) went through his day; they were from a poor family in the slums of some kingdom. The interesting part was that I could take some decisions.

*Gurgg*

"I'm hungry..." The child looked at the market fruits with desire, and when he was looking at some juicy apples, one fell from one of the shops.

The world came to a stop, and two choices appeared in front of the child.

[Take the apple].[Return the apple]

Those were the choices I could make, and like that, they shaped the personality of the child.

{Of course I choose to return it, then I ask for a job at the shop, which they granted me}

Like that, some opportunities for theft, fraud, and even killing were avoided.

Thanks to my decisions, he grew up and became a well-respected merchant, but tragedy struck.

"Sorry, for you lost, Mister Roland." In his office, two knights were telling him that his mother was killed in the slums by some thieves.

When they left, he didn't know what to do, and to make matters worse, some of his stores were destroyed by some thugs.

{Clearly, this was not a coincidence; someone was targeting him}

The only thing he was thinking was one thing: revenge.

{And I supported that decision}
