Douluo 2: Way of Fake God With Soul Tools

Chapter 79: Pity

The girl before him was like a celestial being who had mistakenly entered the mortal world, flawless and perfect, making one unable to resist heaping all the praise and glory upon her. Every word meant to describe 'beauty' seemed as if it had been created just for her.

All the beauties he had seen before paled in comparison to this girl, feeling ashamed of their inadequacy.

She stood there quietly, her indifferent gaze sweeping over the three white wolves before her, as if she didn't regard the thousand-year-old soul beasts in front of her as a threat.

After a brief standoff.

"Roar—"

One of the larger white wolves finally couldn't hold back any longer, letting out a deafening roar as it lunged fiercely at the girl!

Yet, she remained calmly standing in place.

Just as it seemed she was about to perish in the next moment, Su Luoheng finally burst out from the bushes where he had been hiding.

Indeed, beauty could be a fatal distraction...

He couldn't bear to see such a beautiful and enchanting girl be devoured by wolves. Of course, if it had been a rough-looking man instead, the situation would have been very different.

His icy sword slashed forward, sending out a frosty sword light!

"Hmm?"

A hint of surprise flickered in the girl's eyes as she silently dispersed the soul power she had gathered.

"Slash—"

At the same time, the cold sword light pierced through the head of the thousand-year white wolf in an instant. Blood sprayed as the white wolf's body fell heavily to the ground, dying instantly.

The other two white wolves, seeing their companion's tragic fate, stared fiercely at Su Luoheng with bloodthirsty eyes, panting heavily.

"Roar—"

In the next moment, the two wolves, one on the left and one on the right, charged at him.

Su Luoheng, who had anticipated this, frowned slightly. His icy sword once again sliced through the air, sending out a fierce wave of sword energy.

The two thousand-year white wolves, unable to dodge in time, let out a pained howl before falling to the ground, dying with a look of unwilling fury, their eyes wide open, not resting in peace even in death.

"Whew..."

Though his fight appeared effortless, in reality, that one strike had consumed half of his soul power.

Su Luoheng let out a sigh of relief, sheathed his icy sword, and walked towards the girl.

The girl had her back to him at this moment, her slender and soft back straight. Her loose robe fluttered gently in the mountain breeze, and her snow-white hair lifted in the wind.

Her side profile was exquisite, as if sculpted, with features so perfect they seemed to have walked out of a painting. The only flaw was the cold aura that surrounded her, warding off anyone who approached.

Standing close to the girl, Su Luoheng was once again struck by her beauty.

"Are you hurt?"

"…"

"Miss?"

"…"

"Beautiful lady?"

Su Luoheng called out three times in a row.

But the girl remained silent, not uttering a single word.

Seeing this, Su Luoheng felt a bit frustrated. After all, he had just saved her life; even if she was cold and aloof, she should at least say something, right? No matter how beautiful she was, could it be that she was mute?

"Hey?"

"…"

"You really can't speak?"

"…"

Seeing the girl still not responding, Su Luoheng shook his head, feeling regretful. "So beautiful, yet it's such a pity... Could it be that you can't even hear what I'm saying?"

This time, the girl turned her head, her clear eyes meeting his directly.

"You can hear me?"

Su Luoheng thought for a moment and asked, "It's dangerous for you to be alone in the Soul Beast Forest. Do you need me to escort you out?"

"…"

The girl remained silent.

"Be careful if you're alone in the Soul Beast Forest."

Su Luoheng shrugged. This girl really was... too strange.

Then, without saying anything further, he simply turned and left after giving her a few words of caution.

"…"

The girl's eyes shifted slightly, and she eventually followed him.

She followed after all?

Hearing her footsteps, Su Luoheng chuckled softly and shook his head but didn't say anything. He just gradually slowed his pace to make sure he could keep an eye on the girl behind him.

In his impression, the girl behind him was nothing more than an ordinary person.

...

...

The sky gradually darkened as night fell.

The moonlight, soft and clear as water, bathed the silent forest.

Su Luoheng found a relatively flat clearing to set up camp. It was late, so he planned to rest here for the night and continue his journey the next day.

The girl stood not far away.

She seemed lost in thought, her gaze fixed on the distant horizon.

Meanwhile, Su Luoheng busied himself with preparing dinner.

Whenever he traveled, he would fill his storage soul tool with food. This time was no exception: vegetables, fruits, fresh frozen meat, various seasonings, and even an assortment of cooking utensils and tableware—everything he could possibly need.

Before long, he started cooking in front of the campfire.

After eating grilled meat for several days in a row, he decided to have some porridge tonight for a change of taste.

This was one of the only two dishes he knew how to make besides barbecue.

Su Luoheng skillfully washed the rice, cleaned the vegetables, chopped them, and diced the meat.

Cooking porridge was simple—he just needed to toss all the prepared ingredients into the pot and let it simmer slowly. Unlike grilling meat, he didn't need to keep a close eye on the food to prevent it from burning.

Because of this, his gaze occasionally drifted to the girl beside him.

She looked like a celestial maiden stepping out of a painting, the cool moonlight illuminating her jade-like skin, giving it a translucent glow, as if she were a goddess descended from the heavens, elegant and otherworldly.

Clad in a white dress, her long, snowy hair flowed down like a waterfall. Her delicate, flawless face remained expressionless, her gaze distant as if she were looking far into the distance. Her demeanor was as cold as an eternal glacier. Though she was right beside him, she gave off an unapproachable aura, as if separated by a vast distance.

Su Luoheng found himself momentarily lost in thought as he stared.

Her beauty was so perfect that it left no room for any flaws, but perhaps the only imperfection was her inability to speak.

Maybe that was the price for such a perfect appearance?

Thinking this, Su Luoheng couldn't help but sigh, feeling a sense of pity and sadness for her.

Just then, the girl suddenly turned to face him. Her sapphire-like eyes were as deep as the stars, sparkling and mesmerizing, making it impossible for him to look away.

She stared straight at him.

For a moment, their eyes met.

Feeling that the atmosphere was becoming awkward, Su Luoheng took the initiative to break the silence.

"What's your name?"

He suddenly remembered that she couldn't speak, and he laughed bitterly while rubbing his nose. "Sorry, sorry, I forgot you can't talk."

"…"

Silence fell again.

For a moment, Su Luoheng didn't know what else to say.

"Gurgle—gurgle—"

The bubbling porridge on the campfire broke the silence just in time.

"Well... the porridge is ready. Do you want to try some?"

Su Luoheng shifted his gaze and pointed to the spot beside him, extending an invitation to the girl.

The girl stared at the fire for a moment, but in the end, she gracefully moved her feet and slowly sat cross-legged across from him.

"Try it~"

With that, Su Luoheng scooped a bowl of meat porridge and handed it over to her.
