Chapter 80: Chapter 80: The Plan

Chapter 80: The Plan

After Ye Lingling left, Yang Potian began tidying up his dorm room. Now that he looked around, he noticed how messy everything had become — pieces of clothing scattered about, the bathroom faucet still running, and even traces of blood left from Ye Lingling.

Yang Potian sighed. "Well, now I'm in trouble. She's such a good girl; I'll have to find a way to take responsibility."

As for the issue with Ye Lingling's spirit defect, he didn't consider it a major problem. In the original story, Ning Rongrong's Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda evolved into the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda after she took the immortal herb Qiluo Tulip. If that herb could overcome a spirit's limitations, it should be capable of solving Ye Lingling's Nine Hearts Begonia flaw.

After all, the Qiluo Tulip was known as the king of immortal herbs, capable of absorbing the essence of heaven and earth and even commanding all forms of life. Fixing a "mere" Nine Hearts Begonia defect shouldn't be too challenging. Additionally, Yang Potian had another plan in mind — his father still had a lovesickness heartbroken red herb, a rare and priceless treasure among immortal herbs, with the power to heal the gravest of injuries and even regenerate bones. It would surely have a miraculous effect on the Nine Hearts Begonia spirit.

However, Yang Potian wasn't planning to use any immortal herbs just yet. At least, he'd wait until after the Spirit Master Tournament. By then, it would be easier to handle the potential risks. After all, if his spirit power increased too quickly, others might notice and become suspicious.

Throughout everything, Yang Potian remained cautious about the Strength and Agility clans. Should news leak to Tang San and attract Tang Hao's attention, things could get complicated.

Over the next few days, Yang Potian didn't rush off to acquire his next spirit ring. Instead, he continued his regular training, finding that his physical strength and resilience had significantly improved after consuming the whale gelatin. It seemed choosing to take it at level 40 was the right call, though it did have one unexpected side effect.

However, Ye Lingling hadn't joined training in days, and Yang Potian, puzzled, went to her dorm only to find her avoiding him. Meanwhile, Dugu Yan was looking at him with a strange expression, almost as if he were some heartless scoundrel.

After several days without seeing Ye Lingling, Yang Potian had no choice but to leave Heaven Dou Royal Academy to finally go in search of his next spirit ring.

As he left, Dugu Yan was busy trying to console Ye Lingling. "Lingling, why are you acting like this? Potian is a genuinely good person, and he's incredibly dedicated to training. He'll definitely stick by you."

Ye Lingling remained expressionless as she shook her head. "I know the captain is a good person, but you know the curse of the Nine Hearts Begonia lineage. It's for the best if we keep our distance. Otherwise, I'd only end up causing him harm."

Dugu Yan shook her head sympathetically, knowing that her own Jade Phosphor Serpent spirit had its limitations as well.

After Yang Potian gained some renown, he had rarely left the academy alone, typically accompanied by a teacher. This time, however, he informed his father to pick him up at the academy.

Once they arrived back at the Yang Clan estate, Yang Potian's father, Yang Zhentian, asked seriously, "What sort of spirit ring are you looking for this time?"

After a moment's thought, Yang Potian answered, "In terms of spirit beast age, I believe I can handle up to ten thousand years. The higher the age, the better."

"Additionally, I'm aiming for a spirit beast with strong physical power. If I could find a rare beast of the same caliber as the Golden Crocodile King, that would be ideal."

His father, Yang Zhentian, couldn't help but chuckle, "Son, aren't you asking a bit much? Beasts like the Golden Crocodile King are rare beyond measure. How often have you even heard of anyone coming across one?"

"As for absorbing a ten-thousand-year ring, are you sure your body can withstand it?"

Yang Potian's face showed complete confidence. "Father, don't worry. I've already taken the whale gelatin, so I can definitely withstand the energy from a ten-thousand-year spirit ring. In fact, if it weren't for the risk of mental backlash, I'd even try for a ring of up to 15,000 years."

His father, duly impressed, conducted a thorough assessment of Yang Potian's physical state, even testing his endurance and resilience. As his son had claimed, Yang Potian's physical strength was already on par with a high-level Spirit King, making it feasible for him to absorb a ring of ten thousand years.

Yang Potian then asked, "Father, what about your spirit power levels and those of my grandfathers and uncle?"

A slightly subdued look crossed his father's face as he replied, "Your grandfather is currently at level 88, while your uncle and I are both at level 87. As for your maternal grandfather, he's at level 89 now. At this pace, your grandfather on your mother's side could reach level 90 in a year, your paternal grandfather in two, and your uncle and I should reach Titled Douluo in about three years."

"Father," Yang Potian asked, "if you and the others break through to Titled Douluo, will that draw unwanted attention and put our clan at risk?"

Yang Zhentian chuckled. "Do you think we'd make ourselves a target? We're very aware of the danger. For the past two years, neither your uncle nor I have made any public displays, and we rarely appear in public at all. Hardly anyone outside our family knows our current levels."

"As for obtaining our spirit rings, we already have that planned out. Once your grandfather and your maternal grandfather reach Titled Douluo, it'll be much easier for the rest of us to do so quietly. Don't worry; no one outside the family will know our true power."

Reassured by his father's plans, Yang Potian finally relaxed, knowing that the sudden emergence of three Titled Douluo might otherwise make the clan a prime target.

"Father, where are we going to hunt the ring this time? The Sunset Forest or the Star Dou Forest?"

"What are you thinking? Of course, we're going to the Sunset Forest. There are plenty of spirit beasts there, and we should be able to find a suitable one for your ring."

Yang Potian grimaced, "Father, there aren't that many strong spirit beasts in the Sunset Forest. Last time, we had to search a long time just to find something suitable. Why don't we head to the Star Dou Forest instead?"

"Potian, don't lose faith. There are plenty of valuable beasts in the Sunset Forest. I'm sure we'll find one that suits your needs."

"All right, Father. If we don't find anything in Sunset Forest, let's try the Star Dou Forest afterward."

Yang Zhentian laughed and playfully scolded him, "Why are you so fixated on the Star Dou Forest? It's far too dangerous. Spirit Masters of our level should avoid going there unless it's absolutely necessary."
