Chapter 24: Loose Ends

[A.N: Author-san here. Just wanted to let you know that the following events take place at the exacts same moment Hisashi fought his inner demons (Figuratively, perhaps literally) which should be at the end of Chapter 20, so keep an open mind. Don't forget about the two poles guys, or else... Well you leave me no choice dattebayo!

BTW, by Next Week, we would be seeing Hisashi in the war. Celebrations everybody! Wanna which chapter? Spoiler Alert! Check Out The Author's Note/Thoughts.]

The crimson hue of his blade flared violently, the energy around him erupting in a tempest of raw power. With a final, deafening roar, the spectral chains shattered, disintegrating into the air like dying embers.

Serafall stumbled back, her breath coming in ragged gasps. The bindings that once held him were gone, obliterated by his unrelenting fury.

She locked her gaze onto Hisashi, standing amidst the wreckage. His aura had transformed into a raging storm, an overwhelming force that seemed to tear at the very fabric of reality. Yet, even as her instincts screamed of danger, a flicker of hope refused to die in her heart.

"Hisashi!" she called out, her voice trembling but resolute. "Don't make me do this!"

No response came, only the haunting sound of his labored breaths and the violent crackle of his energy.

His hollowed form loomed before her, movements erratic yet terrifyingly precise. The obsidian blade in his hand glowed with molten crimson light, each swing carving destruction into the frozen ground.

She dodged another arc of energy, the searing heat brushing her skin as the crimson slash tore through the space she had just vacated.

'Is he fighting a losing battle?' Serafall thought. 'Regardless, I have to stop him.'

Summoning a magic circle beneath her, she poured her energy into a containment spell. Her hands trembled. It wasn't out of exhaustion but hesitation.

Could she do it? Could she bring herself to stop him if it meant risking his life?

The battlefield trembled under the weight of his Reiryoku. The oppressive silence that followed made the next moment all the more horrifying.

A scream erupted from Hisashi, something has only hear once in a her life, a guttural, haunting wail that resonated deep within her. It wasn't just a scream of fury or pain

It was raw, unfiltered anguish, a sound so alive with despair it shook her to her core, similar to the same cry she heard earlier.

Her knees buckled, the sheer force of it clawing at her mind. The earth beneath them cracked, jagged lines spreading outward like a web. She clutched her head, fighting the overwhelming urge to flee or kill him.

But she still couldn't.

Through the chaos, her eyes remained fixed on him. The transformation had reached its zenith.

The white, bone-like substance had spread across his body, hardening into an armor-like shell veined with crimson energy.

His face was now obscured by a grotesque mask resembling a human skull, its hollow eyes glowing a malevolent red.

"Hisashi…" she whispered, her voice trembling.

For a moment, her mind flickered back to his words.

Sometimes I wish I had met you earlier. Perhaps it would have been less annoying dealing with other devils aiming for my life.

He had spoken with such calm certainty, yet there had been a warmth to his tone. Hisashi had never been the type to wear his emotions openly, but his words carried weight.

She had come to rely on them, to rely on him.

In the future, I will make sure to stand by your side as promised.

Yet now, that promise seemed fragile, slipping through her fingers as the Hollow's power consumed him.

Her chest tightened. She wanted to scream at him, to demand he stop this madness. But the look in his glowing eyes silenced her. There was nothing human in them now, only fury, pain, and despair.

The air pulsed with a suffocating energy as Hisashi roared once more, his tail lashing violently, leaving craters in the frozen earth.

The Hollow mask covering his face seemed to pulse in time with his aura, a chilling reminder of the battle raging within.

In case I lose, do not hesitate to kill me.

His words echoed in her mind, spoken with the same quiet resolve he always carried. The memory made her heart ache, but it also steeled her resolve.

"I'm not giving up on you, Hisashi," she said softly. "I won't let you die, at least by my hands!"

Serafall thrust her staff forward, summoning another barrier.

The spectral chains returned, glowing brighter as they wrapped around his frame. The energy burned at her fingertips as she poured every ounce of strength into holding him.

The battlefield grew quieter, save for Hisashi's labored breaths. For a fleeting moment, she saw a crack in the mask—a faint flicker of the boy she knew shining through the monstrous form.

"Prove to me you're stronger than this," she whispered.

And then it happened.

A surge of energy erupted from Hisashi's body, shattering the chains and the barrier in an explosion of crimson light. The force sent Serafall stumbling back, shielding her face from the blast. When she lowered her hands, she saw him.

The white, armor-like substance began to crumble, fragments falling away to reveal the boy beneath.

Hisashi's blonde hair clung to his face, damp with sweat. His tattered clothes bore scorch marks and shallow cuts, but his eyes, though heavy with exhaustion—were his own again.

Serafall stepped forward cautiously. "Hisashi?"

He looked at her, a faint smile curling his lips. "You're still annoying, you know that Sera-chan" he muttered, his voice hoarse.

She let out a shaky laugh, tears welling in her eyes. "You reckless idiot."

Before she could say more, his legs buckled. Serafall darted forward, catching him before he hit the ground. Hisashi leaned against her, his weight heavy but reassuringly human.

"You did it," she murmured, brushing a strand of blonde hair from his face. "You really did it."

He closed his eyes, his breathing steadying as exhaustion overtook him. For a moment, Serafall simply held him, her heart still racing from the chaos.

"You're ready to enter the War," she whispered, her tone firm but gentle. "But not yet. I won't let you recklessly run to your death."

With that, she rose to her feet, cradling Hisashi in her arms. The icy winds had calmed, and the battlefield was eerily quiet. As she walked toward the distant castle, she felt the weight of his unconscious form—a reminder of the cost of his victory.

His humanity, though scarred, was intact.

Even though all hope is lost, cling to the little hope you have.

Her smile grew brighter as she recalled the moment he was cheering her up, after experiencing a devastating setback.

They had failed to defeat the descendants of the Original Satans.

Happy Reading Everybody! *Whispers* And sorry for the short chapter...

Anyways, School is reopening on my side, so I will only release 2 Chapters a week. I have to focus of Project Realms and this Fan-fic at the same time so as you can see... I got a lot to juggle.

I just need your support. Trust me when I say I am lazy with this Fan-fic. If you are interested then comment and let me know. That gives me more confidence to write my novel.

Don't worry, the Chapters will keep coming on both sides.

And for any potential racists, I suggest you don't read it when I do release the Novel...
